To me, it seemed he never loved basketball. He made the NBA on pure natural talent and extreme size. Then after he made the league and a few years went by where he ever developed his game, he was quietly ignored in free agency and is now out of the league. And he doesn’t care to chase a pro career elsewhere because, again he doesn’t love basketball. He made a few million dollars. He’s going to try to live on that for as long as her can.

I bet the next time we see Bol will be him playing in China in a 2-4 years when he wants to make another million dollars.

Bol had a minute here in Orlando when it seemed like he could be a really useful, unique player. He had some injuries here and there, but I always wondered why he just vanished from the rotation. This explains it.

The NBA is different from the rest of the basketball world. Different foul called (every small contact is a shooting foul for example). Everyone is huge and quick. So, you also need to be tall, quick, and have genius level processing to be able to follow and react to what’s happening. Bol was tall but nothing else. That plus a lack of fundamental skills make him unplayable in the nba. He might do well in like china, where everyone is smaller, the game is slower, and less complex so it’s easier to process.
