Joe Ingles is older than Andrew Bynum, but he came into the league after Bynum’s last season.
Andrew Bynum was born on 10/27/87
Joe Ingles was born on 10/2/87
Bynum played from 2005 to 2014
Ingles came into the league in the 14⁄15 season
This is fun fact indeed
Ricky Rubio is 4 years younger than both of these guys and was locking up Jason Kidd in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Rubio and Curry were destined to play together but Johnny Flynn’s 8 OT game changed everything

well you’re certainly not an expert in fun lol
Kyle Korver is awesome
Who took the jam out of your donut mate?
A Laker fan, I see.
The rest of us Lakers fans disavow this guy. He’s no fun.
Ingles at his peak was much more than a three point specialist. Great playmaker, good defender.
I would guess probably a better locker room presence too.
On the doll point to where you got jingled
It’s all over
The problem with Bynum had nothing to do with his playing style. He just had spaghetti for knee ligaments.
Bynum fully healthy is still not a 15 year player.
Yeah he played pro ball in Australia and Euro League for like 10 years before coming to the NBA
Joe’s first season with the South Dragons was 2006. Dante Exum was around 10 years old at that time and became a big fan of Joe Ingles. Dante owned an Ingles South Dragons jersey.
Coincidentally, or maybe planned by the Jazz FO, Dante and Joe were rookies together in 14-15. Dante is currently out of the league but Joe persists.
EDIT: Dante is not out of the league. He is still with Dallas but has not played this season as he is recovering from a surgery.
Exum is at dallas
What happened to Exum?
He’s just an all-time injury prone player. Also he’s not out of the league but I see why they’d think that because he hasn’t played a game yet this season because he had a season ending surgery.
You’re correct. I checked his Basketball Reference page and it didn’t show any games played this season. Injuries have been the story of his career, hopefully he can come back from this one as well.
Yeah, I was gonna say I could’ve sworn Exum returned to the league a couple years back
What happened to the South Dragons?
Definitely planned. Utah signed Ingles to help Exum adjust to playing in America, hoping an older guy at the end of the bench from his home country would help him settle in. Ingles then became a far more important piece of the Jazz roster
Utah jumped on Ingles after he had done the 2014 pre-season with the Clippers. They cut him on the eve of the season and Utah snapped him up. He was mainly there to babysit Exum, who had just turned 19 a few months prior.
Joe’s first season with the South Dragons was 2006.
I’m old enough to remember him making the dunk highlights.
Andrew Bynum did not like Basketball, plain and simple. He just played for the checks and when he got them he cared even less
Bynum when asked about trade rumors:
“There’s a bank in every city.”
All-time great idgaf quote
How have I never heard that quote before lol , fuck that’s hilarious.
His best dunk
What
Dudes got Shannon Brown in his flair
God damn how have I never seen that?!?
Now post his best missed dunk.
Bynum is responsible for my all time favourite mental image of an NBA player.
Story goes that in his very last NBA practice they were scrimmaging and Bynum would immediately shoot as soon as he got the ball… from literally anywhere on the court.
The guy was with a straight face shooting full court heaves… it truly doesn’t get more IDGAF than that.
That’s what got him kicked off the Cavs. He signed with Indiana later that year and played a few games, so I don’t think it was his last ever practice he did that.
Dude was tall and long af, straight outta high school but yeah you could tell he didn’t really like it.
Great Bowler though
I remember the Lakers basically hiring Kareem to be a coach Andrew Bynum coach
And Bynum was like “Meh”
I got another one for you. Derrick White is older than Giannas but was drafted like 4-5 years later
Malcolm brogdon is 2 years older than Giannis, came into the league the year Giannis made his first all star game. Weird having RoTY being older than your star player. And when Giannis was the same age he won MVP
And now he is retired
Edit: which is crazy, im pretty sure no one expected it. I thought he’d be what Jordan Clarkson is doing for the Knicks right now.
AD close to joining him
I am also older than Giannas and am currently undrafted. Your move OKC, you’ve got the picks.
Thats believable because some players end up playing college ball 3-5 years while other players are 1 and done or from overseas
Ben Simmons made 5 3pt shots in his career.
Joe Ingles came into the league with one goal in mind– play long enough to get the NBA pension, which is three years.
Proud of this dude– even if he’s not great now, he’s just such a valuable bench presence.
Bro it’s not the offseason yet. This post would do numbers in August
Ingles absolutely could’ve played and contributed in the NBA far earlier than he was brought over. Joe was reasonably athletic and very skilled as a younger player in Australia.
It’s just that US scouts had (and to a large degree still have) a prejudice against young “unproven” Euro/overseas players.
Now imagine if Jingles had developed in the nba as a young lad, he didn’t get going until he was like 30 too.
You just got JIngled!
I’m 35. There are dudes younger than me that had ten plus year careers that are out of the league.
i remember me and my buddy picking random european teams to play against eachother in 2k and laughing at this fella names joe ingles
I miss that offensive post juggernaut. Blonded
LeBron too!!
Worth noting that Andrew Bynum was six days past 18 when he made his debut.
it really highlights how age and NBA age aren’t the same thing, and how entering the league early can lead to a much shorter shelf life even if the talent ceiling is higher.
Fun fact: I saw rookie Joe Ingles win an NBL Championship for the South Dragons! They broke up not long after, but it was a cool team. Have followed his career with enthusiasm ever since.
Fuckin love Jingles
