Lakers fans were mad all week about the “Lakers and Hornets have the same net rating” posts and kept claiming that’s a misleading stat
Well look what just happened lmao
It was a misleading stat. The Hornets are clearly a much better team.
Idk if ur a bot but you posted the same shit on multiple posts lol
If you aren’t convinced Melo’s a superstar you’re still living off of his tape as a 15 year old. So refreshing to see him play like this after half of the NBA was convinced he was a negative asset
More than half. Most of this sub and a lot of the talking heads kept parroting the “not a winning player” shit while he had zero help last year.
The guy is just a major talent. The pieces are finally falling into place around him, just 1-2 more and the Hornets are going to make serious noise.
It was exhausting for a few months there man — even in the city of Charlotte. The durability concerns are well founded, but between the lines he’s far and away the most valuable player on this team.
People will do that if a player is flashy or doesn’t play “correctly”
On this sub, once you have a label, it’s hard to shed it. Most people here will just regurgitate what they read on this sub without watching the games
As a guy who thinks Lamelo has always had the highest ceiling on our team even with the random year that people thought miller was better than him I feel like we are throwing the term superstar around here very loosely. He’s very underrated by guys that don’t watch him though and these primetime games vs the thunder and lakers have helped his reputation a lot.
lol let me have fun man. It’s been a frustrating season.
Of course until we become a winning franchise, LaMelo can’t join the ranks of SGA/Brunson/Curry/Cade/etc. but he was just the best player on the floor in a competitive second half on the road against Luka and Bron. I don’t think he’s as far away as you’d think. Especially when just a month or two ago many would have told you we’d be better off dumping him for scraps to build around Kon/BMill.
I guess that’s where we differ on our terms of superstar. I don’t see any of those guys as superstars rn besides Sga.
Saying Curry isn’t a superstar is definitely a take
It’s 2026 brother not 2016 you are a decade late
He dominated the Olympics less than 2 years ago but alright. I consider a superstar to be players known outside of basketball circles. Nobody who doesn’t watch ball knows who SGA is, your grandma probably knows who Steph Curry is.
It’s a combination of all the things, lead your team to some sort of success, putting up super star numbers, and name recognition. Yes curry has more name recognition than a guy like Sga but you could say the same that he’s more popular than jokic but jokic is undeniably a superstar.
I’m with you, I just don’t think you lose your superstar status once your game starts declining a little bit, especially for a guy like Curry. Regardless, Y’ALL JUST LOST TO SOME BUGS LAKERS FANS! SUCK MY KNUEPPELS AND PLAY WITH MY BALLS!
I mean that’s fair curry isn’t entirely washed and still all star caliber so it’s a fair opinion and he’s probably the most well known guy globally in the nba currently after LeBron.
Always the best watching this dude ball, used to watch him and his Brothers high school games on YouTube in chemistry class, him being a superstar is a surprise to absolutely no one that isn’t a D1 hater. Dude also has a whistle equal to Steph curry.
KK with 19/7/4
On great efficiency, never forcing a shot
It’s crazy that a 20 y/o rookie makes so few mistakes with the basketball. Even if he somehow gets treated like the 3rd or 4th option while playing with the starters, he never forces anything.
Just a winning player from Day 1
Dude does not look like a rookie out on the court at all it’s absurd. Absolute stud
Surely Kon is short enough lol
K2 if you must shorten it lol
2 because we have two nipples?
I think its K2 because he has 2 names that start with K
Nipple man, its /s.
His middle name is 2, spelled as II. That’s not a joke.
KK
That’s it, I’m buying a Hornets jersey. Any team with a losing record that can make Thunder fans and Laker fans sad in the span of ten days deserves that much.
Hornets unironically are a must watch for me whenever they play a rival west contender because they seem to go apeshit at absolute random on them lmao
We hate the Lakers for some reason. Prob for stealing Kobe
the failed mark williams trade that made him want out too.
Yeah that left a bad taste in all our mouths
Jamal Murray and the Hornets, man
Kinda weird not getting destroyed by LBJ though, dude had it out for us when Jordan owned the team.
their jerseys go hard too
How is the Hornets record so bad, they have some really good players. Maybe I’m just coping
Injuries and poor 3 pt defense (shitting the bed in tight games)
Yeah 0-6 in 3 pt games. That might balance out. I could see play-in
We’re like 4-13 or somethin in whatever a clutch game is defined as. It’s ugly and idk if that turns around mid season haha
Gotta think at some point this young team will get over that hump. It’s the next step in becoming an outright good NBA team. Of course there’s the possibility they just don’t get over the hump, but this team feels different than past hornets squads with their savvy rookies and I think Brandon, Miles, and Lamelo are just tired of losing.
Their defence now vs start of the season is night and day.
They’re streaky shooters who refuse to stop shooting no matter what (except Kon, the veteran presence in the team).
The team hasn’t been healthy until this week.
They choke in close games.
Injuries Injuries Injuries Minutes Restrictions and Injuries.
If God gives Charlotte any health luck they’ll have a Boom like the Pistons.
You forgot shitting the bed in clutch games and injuries.
Those minutes restrictions come into play. In 3 of those clutch losses LaMelo was a double digit +/- but didn’t get back into the game till the sub 3 minutes mark in the 4th when the lead, he played part of creating, had long since dissipated.
The Hornets staff’s precaution has cost them games, in the sense that typically the best players are allowed to impact games on heavy minutes— to secure the win. But Charlotte’s FO is prioritizing actually seeing their personnel gel on the court without running them into the ground, given their injury history’s.
I agree, it has been very annoying but hopefully it’ll be worth it in the long run. Games like this show that they clearly believe that these are their guys for the long run. Talent isn’t a question, the next moves necessary to compete are.
I wasn’t saying you’re wrong on minute restrictions, I’m pointing out that we’re fucking abysmal on clutch possessions. And injures.
we’ve shit the bed in a lot of close games
Injuries. The story of every season for us for like the last three years at least.
Easy
Health and we have the worst front court in the NBA.
Charles lee legit cost them a few wins
They have lost many games in the clutch. Young team.
Lakers D is 🗑
They’re a bad team with a fake record
Refs helping them win close games. Hence why they have negative points differential but a good record.
JJ Reddit clearly not watching enough tape
Showtime Hornets
Ball, Bridges, Brandon
Lavar’s BBB brand is back
and Bnuepple
LaMelo had 3 points at halftime
If the NBA made a Most Schizophrenic Team award, this Hornets team would run away with it.
Just attacking Luka every possession
Can we remove Luka’s name from the MVP ladder in place of Lamelo?
against lakers defense, didnt count
I had the realization that when the lakers lose they lose badly. But when they win it a blow out.
Also I miss Austin man
