[Highlight] The refs miss a blatant backcourt violation leading to the OKC jam. Udoka asks the ref about the no-call
That’s as blatant as it gets lmao
All time most blatant blown call is that one KD play where he “saves” it after taking 3 steps out of bounds. That one still has me wondering wtf happened
Edit: In case anyone here wasn’t following the NBA 6 years ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/fmz0NftxBR
I love that Harden absolutely fried them including a game winning dagger cause they did NOT deserve that win after that bullshit
3 defenders on him if I remember correctly. Harden was ridiculous that year.
And he got up and talked shit to Draymond
Harden spoke for all of us that day.
Oh it was that game? One of the best game winners I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t be more draped and still hit it.
“JAMES HARDEN A FLAMETHROWER” is burned into my mind forever. One of my favorite game winners
One of the best calls ever. Crazy shot.
I’ll never forget that game. They waved off a three from him earlier in that game too that was a BS call. One of the best individual performances I’ve ever seen where one guy lead a team with the sheer determination to win.
Harden’s three that did count should’ve been an and1 too.
over klay and dray; one of the highest arching shots i’ve ever seen
Nothing is ever ever ever ever going to be worse than Harden dunking the ball and them calling it a miss and the rockets losing the game in OT
double OT and we lost that game by 2
can’t make that shit up
I remember watching bc yall had Russ
that was a very bad game to be watching russ unfortunately lmao im pretty sure he and james combined for something along the lines of 15 of 60 from the field or so
It was fantastic. Adidas put Hardens on clearance after that playoff series and I got a pair. Great shoes James, thanks for the discount!
why’s it always us
I was so confused watching that. I had no idea why they didn’t count it. I still don’t.
Commentator also thought he missed. At normal speed it looks like the ball kinda bounced back up instead of going in. But since the net is messed up the refs should have guessed it went in and checked.
There was that time Giannis drove to the rim late in the fourth and blatantly stepped out of bounds
That’s up there with 2002 for my “it’s wrestling, treat it accordingly” moments in the NBA
Ive been mad at that shit for 6 years bro, and then KD signed with us and now I will deny that footage and tell you it was made with AI
Nah even if KD is a rocket I’m still gonna preach about that clip
I’m both surprised and unsurprised that this was already 7 years ago.
Yeah that KD one is crazy. Way, way worse.
At least in this OKC/HOU clip you can see the ref at half court is looking at SGA and actually missed the backcourt violation. Crazy that any other ref didn’t catch it though.
But that KD one is actually nuts. The baseline official is right there, looking directly at the play, and doesn’t call it. Then in the last replay you can see the sideline ref plain as day looking right at him and he just doesn’t react. Literally just day dreaming out there.
Wasn’t there a no call years ago of either LeBron or Wade just… walking like 12 steps?
Edit: I think I found it. Dwayne Wade 7 step travel
Or maybe this LeBron
Or this one.
My point is, when I say “like 12”, I mean a crazy amount of steps.
Lebron against the Jazz.
Bogey looks right at the ref with a “WTF just happened, no call?” And play resumes like nothing happened.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/kVjfeDW6jV
Is that’s the play then I love how the 2.5-3 steps became 12 steps for the previous commenter lol
And the Harden made dunk that didn’t count. Houston on the wrong side of all 3 😂
That and Devin Booker’s foul on Jrue Holiday are the two that stick in my mind the most.
Gonna be in the tiktok edits with the Cason Wallace hand holding clip smh
I blame the goofy ass court for not having the half court line go all the way through.
Yeah that too, but refs just probably wanted to go home early.
Yeah that was odd
The invisible half court line can get partial blame but the bulk of the blame definitely goes to the incompetent refs.
Here I am waiting for him to lose control of the ball and have to save it from the backcourt but nope. He just dribbled there himself
And it’s annoying, it only feeds conspiracy theorists at this point. Game was already over.
What is even more interesting is the fact that the Thunder broadcast totally ignored it, and also ignored the reason why Udoka got a tech.
See for yourself (from 1:23)
That was so obvious, can’t believe they didn’t call that
Then gave Udoka a T. Wild
I don’t blame him lol that was crazy. Surprised he got it though. He looked way too nonchalant going into the commercial break. I would’ve been flipping out lmao
It’s because he was just repeating the questions over and over to the refs. We only get to see the last couple of seconds before he gets T’d up, but the refs probably said they didn’t see the violation (They didn’t, and it’s a non-call so no replay or challenge) so they’re like leave it and move on, but him walking up and asking over and over “Did you see it?” That’s probably getting T’d up no matter who the coach is.
I’m not disagreeing with what you’re saying, that probably is what happened, but it’s so frustrating as a fan of the NBA, I can’t imagine how frustrating it is for a coach/player to see such a blatant missed call and there being no accountability or recourse for addressing it.
That’s part of what makes this so fucked up. The very best we can get is the NBA giving us a fucking memo a day later saying “we did an oopsie last night 🤷”. There’s zero recourse to retroactively change anything, and asking for any sort of accountability after the refs suddenly decide they’re now above addressing the mess they just made gets heavily penalized
Tinfoil me, but at this point the NBA has to be complicit with some sort of inside gambling or scheme. Not just cause of this missed call by itself, but the sharp decline in refereeing quality in general along with everything else going on in this country. It’s becoming a free for all wasteland where comprising the integrity of something for financial gain is the norm
I’m sorry that Ime got a T for that, but that’s fucking hilarious. Like a little kid asking his mom if she saw him run across the room.
Anyway, it’s not acceptable they didn’t see it. One ref was exactly on the line. These should be the best refs in the world lol
Fts for SGA
Funny how the ref had his eyes on SGA. Got to be ready at any time to call a foul.
It really results in SGA free throws? Lmao
Yep he shot the technical ft after ime went off on the ref for this
Did he freak out because he seems pretty calm and reasonable questioning a total blown call? Tech for calmly pointing out a huge error
Ref didn’t even see it actually you can see him looking at SGA. Maybe we need 4 refs
There’s just 0 excuse to not have at least one ref looking at the guy with the ball. Like reffing 101
I don’t think the other two would have a good enough angle since the line only does like 1⁄4 of the way. Surprised the NBA allows that.
More starstruck refs smh
aura
I’ll be honest, three refs to watch what could possibly be five different situations happening simultaneously has always felt wrong to me. Like, how can they possibly believe they’ll see everything that’s happening?
With a lot of noncalls actually seen by the viewers, the 4th could even be just looking at the screen and it might help like in this case.
I’ve been saying for years the game literally just needs to have an extra ref watching the broadcast to call this shit we see. It would make fans feel literally 100x better most of the time, simply by making the calls you miss more likely to be calls they can’t see you miss as badly.
Ref was staring at SGA in case he needed to call a touch foul
Obviously we were cooked anyway but that’s gotta be disheartening lol
Lmao it was so obvious
Nah he clearly didn’t cross the line. Now that big ass “R” though…
Bro as a Thunder fan, I was like, didn’t he just..
Same! Doesn’t matter who your root for, a bad/missed call is always bad for the game.
I mean, if it was missed it was missed, and likely wouldn’t have changed this game outcome by much… But seriously refs. Horrible officiating these last couple of years.
I appreciate ya being good opposing fans. We had a lot of ya come into our chat starting shit.
Tough loss unfortunately, our coach doesn’t know offense and we have an exposed defense
[removed]
Tbf this was horrendous, wtf was the ref looking at
He was looking at the off ball screen for SGA.
Look at you the way the refs look at Shai.
SGA mastered Kuroko’s Misdirection confirmed.
Probably the spread on the game
Didn’t it also seem like Ajay didn’t realize he dribbled into the back court? He made no attempt to avoid the half court line. I thought there must have been a tip that was hard to see, or he actually didn’t know where he was because the line isn’t painted through the logo. But on replay the ref just wasn’t looking. Very bizarre play all around.
He got pushed over the line, he presumably let himself get pushed over to make the refs call a foul.
I am not a fan of the OKC whistle but the correct call here would be a pushing foul on Thompson
I went back and watched it and there was a definite push. Ref probably just wanted to keep the game going
He wasn’t looking at Ajay, that’s for sure. (Literally wasn’t, he was staring off toward shai or someone).
He was watching the screen because, as an NBA ref, you’re making the assumption that the backcourt violation isn’t something that’s going to happen… instead the thing you need to be watching for is a moving screen or some other kind of off-ball foul
The ref who’s responsibility it was to make the call can be seen at :10 looking to his right, at SGA and not at the dribbler.
Not sure about the near side ref but the far side ref wasn’t looking at Ajay at all. Not like this call made much of a difference in the game but this was egregiously bad.
3 people in the world missed it and they all had whistles.
Shit like this is why the league is so unserious today, especially when it happens to your favorite team or in a high stakes game.
How there’s 3 refs on the floor and not a single one is even glancing at the ball is absolutely insane
Even im upvoting it for the jokes at this point
This one’s deserved, no idea how two high school refs could look at that & not call backcourt.
This is the kind of stuff that’s get you barred from reffing a playoff game lol
It’s definitely because Thompson gave a full extension shove to Ajay’s waist which further cemented him moving backcourt
Our whole thunder sub was like that’s going number 1 lmao
Lol for real. We’re not allowed to have highlights from our games, just missed calls. Nobody gives a shit when the refs blow easy calls on non-Thunder games.
Take it as a compliment. It means you made it to the top of the mountain and all the hate is a sign youre doing well.
Maybe Houston should paint the fucking line so he actually crosses something. Like why would you remove the line and the visual cue from the court? So dumb with that shitty ass logo. No excuse for the ref, but cmon.
that was my first thought too
Yup watch all the conspiracy theorists talk about how they’ve rigged it while they’ve barely gotten anything this game
being down 18 and blaming it on a single call with 4 minutes left is prime r/nba conspiracy
no it’s r/nba conpiracy on prime
Welcome to the blocked by u/MrBuckBuck club lol
Practically a badge of honor lmao
EDIT: rip, the mods got him
Mrbuckbuck just posts basketball clips, this isn’t “giving him a platform” for anything other than Deni Avdija propaganda
Everyone saw it except for the refs
Probably won’t top the several Wemby highlights that were being hate upvoted during our Spurs game
of course it’s a thunder fan bringing this up 😭
Yea dog. We were the ones playing wemby.. what do you expect.
Forgive the lack of critical thinking from my fellow bucks fan, we’ve all been drinking overtime with every game that doc continues to coach
Fairs. Tough time to be a bucks fun.
Thank you bro I had to block that MrBuckBuck clown
The political posts this week have over 30k upvotes, so I highly doubt this post comes anywhere close to that. But it definitely could be the top post of the week that’s actually about basketball.
Point spread.
Let me take this opportunity at the top to say u/MrBuckBuck is a zionist and this sub needs to stop giving that piece of shit a platform
What?
Edit: I’m legit just asking what he has said. I don’t know this person.
These refs sucks lol
No they’re very good at their job. This is modern basketball. Sucks to see it but it’s over.
Yep. They don’t even give af how obvious the bad call and no calls are. Nba has decided to go the wwe route long ago. Shits unwatchable
Insane missed call lol. Did the logo mess with their vision?
That was my line of thought as well.
Yeah, that logo is not in a circle. I even missed it for a quarter second.
it had to be the reason. god that was awful.
You can see in the replay that the ref simply wasn’t watching. He was looking towards Shai and the screen being set
I don’t see how they can’t have one of three refs always with their eyes on the ball
We got away with a foot on the line last game so maybe. That one was at least understandable because it was so close. This was stupidly bad.
The line being obscured by a big ass Rockets logo is probably why Ajay didn’t realize either. I’m pretty sure no other court has space between the halfcourt line and the logo
The ref wasn’t even looking, he was watching the screen.
The line should definitely go all the way across
Rockets not making the line cross all of half court disadvantage lol
To the top we go baby
Easiest karma of his life
Me too
Under/Over 10k karma?
10k unwatchable comments
I believe in Joe Hendry
Does this get more or less upvotes than Shai swatting Wemby’s shit?
This mfer at halfcourt not even looking at the line jfc, what these refs doing lol
Bro spotted some nice piece of ass
God damn Stevie Wonder could have called that
What do you expect the ref to be watching the ball or something?
How can you? They might miss a foul on SGA!
The Thunder are lucky the game isn’t that close. Otherwise, this would be the talk of the week in this sub if the Thunder narrowly won.
Still will be lol
Probably still will be if we’re being honest
Still going straight to the top
Literally still sitting at 2k upvotes.
No, the Thunder aren’t lucky, they were whooping Houston
Remember the first game between the rockets and the thunder this year? Durant called a timeout without having any and they didn’t give them a tech thus sending the game into double ot. No complaints there for missing that call
It will be. Non-Thunder fans watch this team explicitly to catch missed calls and it bitch about them.
Yeah that was bad lol 😂
Ime got a T after this talking to the refs lmao
That fan who got up and pointed with his hands is my hero
Yikes man. There was a ref literally staring right at him too. These guys just asleep at the wheel
Where? You can see the ref looking away when the foot is obviously over the line and looking back when the foot is on the logo, which obscures the half court line.
I can see why this was missed. Doesn’t mean there should’ve been eyes on the ball at all times though.
Don’t know how you miss that
Then they gave the ime a tech for pointin it out lol
😶🌫️
Yep that was blatant. Sub is gonna be drooling all over this one.
Seems like the ref didn’t call it because Thompson pushed Mitchell. Could have called a defensive foul but gave it a neutral no-call.
This is what it looks like at full speed to me, too. Maybe his momentum was already leading to backcourt, but full speed I can see why they’d miss it.
Thar was my guess when it happened in real time bc I couldn’t think of any other reason it wasnt called.
Refs suck sooo much this year
i’m weak, this already has way more upvotes than any other post. gonna be the most popular post for the night and maybe for a couple days
Missed back court call instantly more popular than any highlight lmao
thunder have crazy motion😭✌️ used to pray for days like this
If you ain’t got haters you ain’t Poppin
Yeah icl that was a bad miss 😭
Take me to the front page baby
my guy completely blind out there
That’s up there with the KD missed out of bounds call in the Warriors vs Rockets game
It ain’t that bad, that KD one might have been one of the worst of all time missed calls lol
Nah no way. KD was practically a court side fan with how deep he was out of bounds.
Bright ass yellow apron, white shoes, both feet out of bounds. Good thing Harden ended up clutching that game lol
Gotta get make sure the casino spread gets met. I’ll never trust basketball against because of the gambling shenanigans we have going on now.
To offer a counter point: do you think he didn’t call it because the defender blatantly straight arm shoves his waist leading him to the back court? If anything it is a foul and typically these get called as a foul if it leads to something obvious as a back court or an out of bounds. I hate how refs pick and choose because it is a shit product with the lack of consistency but it is clearly a foul. Just freeze the frame of the stiff arm that sends the ball handler over the line. Textbook foul.
The ref that should be looking at the ball is so fucking worried about SGA that he’s missing the easiest call of the night lol
We gotta get rid of these shitcourt styles. Make the lines clear. Make the colours clear. Don’t put weird coats on it so the players slip 4% more often either.
GOD DAMN IT
The check cleared I guess
What is this WOKE BULLSHIT?!
I’d void the win if I was the NBA
When you rig the league for one of your smallest and least profitable market teams, but get caught on live television. Gotta be more subtle with it Adam!
Lol and 10k
We need a Shaqtin a Fool for refs only
Ref fans eating good tn
He is so clearly pushed into the backcourt by the defender. Watch his arm extended out once i/’s on AJ’s hip
Terrible call lol even as an OKC fan I was scratching my head… however let’s not act like this was a game changing call. OKC defense held the Rockets to 35 points in the 2nd half.
Thunder fan here, watching that was incredibly frustrating. These refs are just doing no favors to anyone by having inconsistent whistles. People love to blame the baiters, but lets not forget these refs are the idiots in the arena.
Just give the refs a wig and red nose so they can all show up to games together in a tiny car.
If you pause it right when he crosses the line, the half court ref is literally looking the other way. My guy there’s a reason we added a third ref, and why one of them stands at half court as the ball comes up the court. This is just pathetic.
Everybody knows you get 2 steps and a gather
Ajay was pushed. It should have been a foul.
Technically he didn’t cross the line as there is no line where he walked. Checkmate, atheists
Who in the NBA office approved this decal? The lines are drawn for a reason.
Most egregious non-call of the year. What a farce.
Honestly that’s a fat ass decal it is pretty confusing
The least of Houston’s worries tonight.
(Yeah they missed that one)
OKC is back!
Especially the refs.
Probably didn’t want to call the foul on Amen for the light push.
Amen defensive foul for the push. Whistle. Side out Thunder.
What is going on with this league.
Yeah. It totally affected the 20 point win
I don’t care what he said, you shouldn’t be allowed to t someone up especially a coach when you fuck such a obvious call.
It’s ridiculous and really doesn’t help the allegations the league already faces.
I get they can’t review it. But they should just own it and let the coach blow off some stream
Yikes that was bad
refs prolly have a bet somewhere on “no backcourt violations”.
If the pivot foot goes to gather and crosses the line while the other foot remains on the other side of the court, and it’s placed in a 35 degree angle to Mecca during Winter then it’s not a violation. People are whiny without even knowing the rules smh
Ref wasn’t even looking at it. Crazy Udoka gets T’d up for this.
I don’t see a line, the logo is in the way
It’s all on the worst officiating in global top tier professional sports.
Time for all the fans to say it out loud. Get this right Fix this or no more watching, betting or attending.
