That is true. BUT … Giannis is on contract for one more year after this (the third year is a player option). So Giannis can leave in a year and a bit. Now Bucks can play hardball and say “now you’re well past your prime mwahaha” but they lose Giannis for nothing and they’ll have a year and a half of a team playing disunited. On the other other hand they get a year and a half of Giannis generated revenue.
They can trade him next year but one year rentals usually get lower returns.
