He was being openly talked about as an MVP candidate his best year with you guys. He was playing great. Heās an underrated play maker too. Developed all kinds of things about his game over the years. When he was playing point part time for the Spurs he had one of the best assist to turnover ratios ever.

They’re better because they play faster, and take more 3 point shots without him, not better because he has a poor mid-range shot or something. He has one of the best mid-range shots in the league, but the league’s moved away from that type of game.

Especially in the context of passing Garnett, who never went past the second round on the Wolves and then got traded into a super-team and is now looked back on as a consummate winner. Not saying that Demar is as impactful as KG was, but there is a lot about the team situation that dictates the individual narrative. If Demar got traded to a real contender maybe he could have been a difference maker, something like Aaron Gordon who had a similar reputation (non-impactful scorer) in Orlando. (Edit: looked up AG’s stats and realized he was pretty low scoring. Wiggins before going to the Warriors might be a better example. But I looked at the trade thread and ORL seemed pretty happy to be rid of AG for Gary Harris and RJ Hampton so he couldn’t have been valued that highly lol)
Bro there is no way we are mentioning DeMar in the same breath as Garnett as playoff performers. DD has been consistently very mediocre in the playoffs. Garnett was stuck on bad teams and then was the best player on a finals winning team the first year he got out of MIN.
I didn’t get to watch his play off performances but from stats, dude was putting up 20 ppg with Toronto in the playoffs, and was stopped by Lebron the 3 years leading up to the trade.
