Jonathan Kuminga is trade eligible 1/15/26
Finally it is almost here. Jk is trade eligible tomorrow!. I hope they do it quick rather than close to the deadline. Both sides deserve to move on
it’d be hilarious if they did a midnight deal
It’ll be midnight on Feb 4th. NBA GMs low ball the fuck out of each other until they have no choice not too
if it’s for someone like AD, they can obviously wait. but they’ve had time to negotiate until now and steph chef is frustrated
Steph is not frustrated. He played 20 and 21 teams.
Exactly. Our sub is really expecting an announcement tonight or tomorrow. No chance.
They traded for Schroder as soon as he was eligible last season
He looked awfully happy chilling on the bench last night. I think he knows he’s got a new team ready to play him.
It’ll be absolute cinema when he’s benched again on the next one.
You guys are gonna bench him?
If we make the mistake of acquiring him then there isn’t a doubt in my mind that he’ll be benched.
not sure if you’re undervaluing Kuminga or overvaluing your guys but you should be happy to have someone under 40 to start
Kuminga would be great if you could get him cheap. Like straight up for Monk or DeMar. If a third team gets involved and they start demanding picks to facilitate then it quickly becomes not worth it. His appeal is that his value tanked but is young and has potential, and is low risk because of his short contract
I thought I remembered him balling out against you guys earlyyy this season when he was playing
Warriors should have shut him down during that stretch
The Media Attention to Good Ball Player ratio for JK is the highest I’ve ever witnessed.
You must not know of the great Bronny James
Honestly the situation would be even more insufferable if Bronny was mediocre instead of bad.
Because the media would absolutely milk the hell out of it. And with Bronny being a fan favorite, JJ might be pressured to play him higher minutes than ideal. So then we’d see all the posts complaining how Bronny’s 20min per game is way too much and he isnt actually good enough to be in the rotation. Also Lebron and Bronny would probably share the floor quite often and every highlight they have together would make the front page…etc
Bronny is only because of his dad though. Kuminga is talked about A TON and I’m not sure why
he’s young and incredibly athletic. if he learns how to play basketball he’d be awesome for anybody. just isn’t right for us right mow
You guys aren’t real contenders this year. If he is unplayable on the warriors, he’s unplayable on most teams. There are a lot of young athletic guys in the league that haven’t got 1% of the coverage he gets.
I think saying there’s a “lot” of athletic guys in the league like Kuminga is underselling his qualities. he’s among the most physically gifted young guys in the league. if the Thompson brothers were free agents they’d be generating far more buzz
the Warriors are also a very specific player environment. plenty of players don’t work out for us but are fine elsewhere. most recently, look at Schroder for an example
Schroder has been an established player for a long time, and one of the best international players in competitions for years. There are no other examples of guys who didn’t fit with the warriors but turned into great players elsewhere. And the main difference between the Thompsons and kuminga (beyond the fact that they are better athletes) is that they are incredible defenders. Kuminga can play good on ball defense in spurts, but the main reason he’s not getting playing time is that he can’t play within a defensive scheme. GP2 gets minutes bc he knows how to do that. Draymond obviously understands how to do that despite his offensive limitations. Kuminga can’t, and he’s basically Wiggins on offense
Kelly Oubre.
He’s solid, but again, if that’s the comp, there is no reason to have this much attention on him. He’s the 5th player at best on a solid but not great team
If you watched his stretch before the all star game last year you would get why.
You made me laugh! Thanks
Yeah for real. Potential is great.. unless that’s all it ever is
Jonathan Kuminga is the Bruno Caboclo of Jonathan Kumingas
Oh yes
Can’t wait for the stories to leak about why Kerr hated Kuminga after he gets traded
RELEASE THE KERRMINGA FILES
Kerr invades Sacramento and takes Christie hostage, threatens Brooklyn if they don’t “wise up”
Is Sacramento China? Getting invaded by Genghis Kerrhn?
Pretty sure you can find those stories now.
I was gonna say the same lol
it’s very obvious and not a new thing. rick carlisle did it to nerlens noel. monty to dominayton. people think it’s something more but these obsessives are turned off by playstyles
Funny (and sadly) enough there’s been stories out there already lol
I mean it’s not rocket science to anyone who has watched Kuminga play. He plays smart, he gets minutes. Two games later he decides to ignore Steph and Jimmy and do hero ball (which is yelling “ayeeee” while being cleanly stripped in the paint) and gets benched, then complains to the media about one of the most respected coaches in the league.
Is Kerr really well respected though? One year where he didn’t have Curry his team got the 2nd pick
2019-20 warriors didn’t have Curry or Klay and KD had just left the team.
Dude still coached the team to 4 rings within 10 years and coached Team USA last year.
I think we already got those.
If there’s one thing the warriors organization excels at it’s shitting on players as they’re leaving.
Warriors media machine has got to be so excited for this trade. I bet they’ve had the first “behind the scenes” expose written for months ready to go.
It’s gonna be juicy
I think he does eventually get traded, but I would be shocked if it happens tomorrow. I think we would have already heard full trade details if there was an agreement in place already.
They probably already have something ready to go but I wouldn’t surprised if they hold off praying for someone like JJJ
Yeah if Ja gets traded, Grizzlies might as well go for a full rebuild.
But no real point to trade JJJ now vs the off season. There are more suitors for every star in the offseason compared to mid-season.
Maybe now you can get someone that thinks they are a JJJ away from winning to overpay.
nah i know they leak a lot but no reason to leak something like that early if the trade cant become official for a bit
kuminga knowing is one thing but the other players in the trade would have to play while knowing theyre already traded is wack
It might be to a team that keeps everything locked up pretty tightly, like the Lakers.
Woj aint around anymore
The craziest thing about the whole JK situation is that GSWs are really guard heavy and desperately need forwards but hate JK so much that they DNP’d him anyway
It’s because he’s not good right now. And every time he shows development, he regresses. The Warriors did him no favors but if he was able to contribute right now, he would.
meh Warriors are trying to fit square pegs in round holes. even without Kuminga, they barely had a 0.500 record prior to this recent stretch of easy games
Tbh he’s not a difference maker in wins (even in games he drops 30+ points).
And now look at the Mavericks situation - openly shopping AD who may now be done for the season because of an injury.
Demar DeRozan, come on down
People think the kings are bad now but just wait and see what happens if/when they trade DeMar. He is the only consistent scorer they have
Delete your post. Someone from the Kings front office probably based their job from reddit and I want Demar on a fun team!
Sac should obviously ask for more.
The funniest thing would be if he doesn’t get traded
Nice job, 50 mil for 2 years of sitting on courtside.
im thinking its a 3 team trade between the warriors/grizzlies/heat
some version of kuminga to memphis, wiggs to warriors, ja to miami with the relevant salary matching
That’d be a dream. Reminiscent of how the Warriors traded Wiseman for gp2, a guy they could have kept in the summer.
Warriors doesn’t really need wiggs.
lmao sure, u guys have so many 2 way wings on ur roster /s
Can I ask Warriors fans, genuinely
who’s the problem here
is it Kuminga or is it Kerr
The FO is. They waited too long to do this
The two timelines thing was such fucking bullshit lmao
The worst part is that it was totally doable. If the FO listened to Kerr and kept Poole (also maybe letting go of Draymond), drafted Hali over Wiseman, & drafted Wagner over Kuminga.
Imagine having Curry go to the bench and Haliburton steps in as his backup. Absolute hell
There’s a reality in which the Suns drafted Hali - he could’ve spent a couple of seasons learning from the best and then taking the reigns.
I’m glad we’re not in that reality personally
Poole is terrible
[deleted]
No he’s not
“what if the front office got the best player available every time in the draft”
Still crazy to imagine what might have been if we went for Hali like he wanted. Tbh you could also just play both of them together starting, I think Hali and Steph are a fine fit on the same floor honestly.
Steph isn’t ball dominant, and Hali can often be another great shooter from close or long range like a Klay…the only thing that might feel redundant is Draymond’s offensive game mixed with Hali’s but Dray could focus more on setting screens and PnR rather than playing a PG/facilitator role as much, and focus even more of his energy to defense if he wanted which would be a benefit with his mileage.
And, he could also just play with the 2nd unit/staggered minutes sometimes (like Hali might in his first couple seasons, in this case).
Main problem is front office who drafted a raw prospect who doesn’t fit.
Kerr wants to win and wants people who knows how to play with Steph. People don’t think he gave Kuminga a good chance but that’s not true at all. He tried to start him over both Wiggins and Draymond last year and it was not a good fit. This is not a team that can afford to give him more playing time when they’re always within the play-in spots.
It’s been years and Kuminga does not know how to play within this team, and I don’t think Kuminga wants to. He likes to take the midrange, but is not good at it. He tries to draw contact, but he ends up getting stripped or he falls to the ground instead of getting back on defense. He’s also not good at free throws so I don’t know why he wants to get to the line anyways. His bad shot selection is basically a turnover for the team and turnovers is what hurts the warriors the most. Kerr may be able to live with that if Kuminga also concentrated on defense and rebounds but he loses focus.
Correct me if I’m wrong, is this just a case of bad fit at the wrong time?
Like you guys with Steph and Dray and Jimmy are always potentially dangerous, Steph especially is always scary, while Kuminga is more of a rebuilding prospect?
combination of
Yes. Plus, Kuminga is the type of player who needs a lot of seasoning/experience playing through his mistakes before he can become good.
He’s just not going to get that on the Warriors with Kerr whose obsessive about players making the “right” decision in 1.5 seconds. (He calls it 1.5 second basketball)
Kind of, but Kerr has been telling Kuminga what he wants from him from the beginning and he still has not been able to play the role they want and it’s now his 5th season. I don’t think adding Jimmy helped Kuminga on the court because of the spacing issues so it made it even harder to give Kuminga playing time.
It’ll be better for Kuminga to go to a team that doesn’t care about winning, and it may also help him realize that he should change his playing style. He also needs to get rid of his agent.
that stats don’t show that
even last season, Warriors were 19-13 when JK played, 7-10 when he didn’t pre-Jimmy trade
Warriors also had higher net rating when Steph played with JK than without him
If those are the only two choices it’s Kuminga. I’m not saying Kerr is infallible but Kuminga never showed an ability to consistently do what the coaches wanted and he’s not good enough for the coach to change his plan to accommodate him. He also got buried by guys that are better or hurt us less when they are bad.
Kerr complained about rebounding and JK leads them in rebounding this season. still got benched
Media.
There is no drama actually.
Honestly probably a bit of both Kerr and Kuminga. It’s just a bad play style fit for the Warriors. Kuminga wants to be free and get more touches but Kerr system is tailor for Steph and ball movement. It’s just toxic because warriors need another scapegoat again
They’re scapegoats for each other. Pretty soon, fans are going to have discuss why Jonathan Kuminga is the exact same player he was coming into the nba without Kerr or the Warriors being there as an excuse anymore.
I ride or die with kerr at this point, kuminga just aint that good. Has flashes of good play, but has always been wildly inconsistent with his effort.
It’s both. His playstyle and clear goals aren’t in line with that of the team. At the same time Kerr has had a short leash with him in past seasons. Both JK and even Moody were robbed of valuable development minutes in 22-23’. Kerr could have given more consistent minutes over guys like Anthony Lamb.
Kuminga is a smaller Wiseman.
Zero BBIQ, made zero effort to learn the system and can’t play alongside Steph fuckin Curry which might be the biggest red flag ever.
He talks through his agent to get playing time rather than adjusting his game, plays horrible defense and doesn’t really seem to “get” it.
The FO trying to paint him as some massive prospect other teams need to pry away from them was a misstep, they value him too highly and just needed to divorce earlier.
Watching the Olympics, the only time we have seen Steph with a mix of high level talents outside of the Warriors themselves (KD excluded here since we already saw him), it became clear Steph truly is a guy who is a seamless superstar and a great fit next to basically anyone on the court.
He can make basically any player better by opening up their shot making, and we saw tons of numbers even last year like in the Playoffs, that supported this.
It was absurd how much worse they got without Steph when they lost 4 games in a row to the Wolves in the Semis. Kuminga being totally unable to adapt playing next to Steph or gain large, concrete results from being on the floor with him is also just sad.
this might be the biggest non story in the last decade of the nba
Mid season slop is like this this – everyone is mentally in playoffs but in reality it’s January. I’d rather have 41 games season instead of 82.
I thought 1/15/26 was a stat line for a second
hahahhahahahaaa
He might be gone at midnight fr
Please let it happen already so I don’t have to hear or read about this again.
Trade rumors would be way more prevalent if he was getting traded tomorrow
It’s happening before deadline though
All this Kuminga drama looks inflated. Kerr tried it several times, but it didn’t work mostly because of Kuminga.
Also i think all Poole nephews should start with impressive stats on Pelicans and Wizards.
Steve Kerr’s 12⁄25
Still leaves another week of the home stand. Hopefully, as rumored, something happens by then.
Let that boy go and be a star in someone else’s sky
no one wants to pay him anywhere near a max deal so he’s not worth anything
of course, he’s also a terrible player and no one wants that either
The JK situation should be a cautious scene for any young FA looking to sign with GSW this summer.
yeah you might get a ring and then get paid $50m for doing nothing.
contender window closed a few years ago buddy
We’ve heard this words before.
Wait there’s no way you think you guys are contenders right?
That’s what they said in 21-22 season. But in reality It’s all in match ups and injuries. Especially if they trade Kuminga (Hield, etc) for player that would bring better size, rim protection and rebounding.
Yes.
To all low BBIQ players shooting 32% from deep who can’t dribble, catch or pass… The Warriors don’t want you.
thats what people were calling Wiggins pre-Warriors
How many “young” FAs are on the market?
Yup. I’d stay away from GSW until they address their well known, young player development issues.
Like who?
