You are 100% right. He didn’t do anything wrong, the refs and nba did by not actually calling fouls according to their rules so players have to make it a dead play so they call it. As in not making basketball moves so the refs make basketball calls. It’s not enjoyable to fans. Basketball is a contact sport and we aren’t asking for it not to be but you can’t make rules that you choose when to call. So either call the rules you got or just make contact more transparent in what is ok or not ok and then actually enforce it consistently. That’s why we are all getting mad at watching this cause it could just be better but leadership is making this decision for why it is like it is.

My biggest issue with our guys trying to get the ball to wemby. If you can’t get it to him clean, move on and run a different play. When they just force it, it usually leads to a bad play.
Absolutely. It slows things down, takes guys out of rhythm, and generally mucks up the offense. If the pass isn’t there, you have to swing it. Hell, Fox is probably sitting in the corner. Get it to him so he can drive and throw Wemby a lob.

As much as it is clearly is flopping (or at a minimum, an exaggeration - noone in their right mind would suggest this isnt a foul), it is also because NBA ref’s have collectively decided that they aren’t gonna call a foul if you don’t do that shit.
This whole play is happening right in front of the ref, and yet he completely ignores it until he sees Wemby exaggerate the contact and force the ref to make a decision.
This is the current state of NBA officiating summed up in one clip. I don’t get people who hate the player for doing this, the NBA requires it to get a whistle.
What I do hate is when players are too busy bitching about non calls to get back on defense (looking at you Luka and Deni)
Look - I would be pissed off at the situations where there is no actual foul, and if Wemby was just trying to initiate, or feign, contact from Williams if it wasn’t there.
But as much as I don’t want him to do this kind of head flopping - when the ref is completely ignoring it (despite clear line of sight) not sure what else he can do?
Come on, you do not require it. Are you much more likely to get a whistle if you flop? Of course. But let’s not pretend it’s necessary and no foul calls happen without flopping.

Yup this is an officiating problem that is plaguing the league. Whistle should’ve been blown 3 seconds prior. That’s why we have this flop fest every game no matter who is playing. Players realize they have to do this shit to get the call, I don’t blame them.
