Standard for us this year, see a team that should be a straightforward win even for us and decide to play at a level scarcely thought possible from actual professional basketball players.

Try not to draw too much from one singular regular season matchup.

Teams often have no real time to prepare other than a brief gameplan breakdown. Facing a team without any of its key players, leads to a situation where coaches don’t know the strengths of their opponent + starters playing down to lesser players.

How do we know that he hasn’t tried, but that the trade market isn’t just kind of dry? I mean, it’s sure seemed kinda like it with how often he’s been deferring to his agent & Bucks’ management.

The aprons force (well managed) teams to think blockbuster trades over quite hard; fucking up can leave them assetless and in 2nd apron.

And even though Giannis is a top-3 player, the only Giannis-centered team we’ve seen contend has following the archetypes on the roster:

• A 3-pt shooting 7 footer to help create space & mismatches for Giannis
• Elite players at the 1 & 2 positions who can play defense, facilitate, and score, and do so with minimal reliance on PnR and with Giannis taking up a lot of time of possession himself.
• As many 3&D wings as possible.

There aren’t a lot of teams that fit that bill. Finding a “compatible” back-court is especially difficult. The league’s top couple tiers of guards tend to be merchants in the PnR + screen games, and need to be kind of ball dominant to get going. Giannis himself has always been fairly ball dominant & he leaks out of screens like crazy.

One of the best possible outcomes for Giannis would be for Milwaukee to fire Doc, pray that Myles gets his shit together, develop Rollins, and find a way to get a very good, young 2-gaurd who can be molded to fit.
