As flawed as he was he was on a team built perfectly for his skillset and they made the Finals, whether they lost or not. The question should’ve been whether you try to get someone to split Kyries minutes, or upgrade at the center position. Trading Luka should’ve never been an option, and trading him behind the scenes and getting what amounted to Cooper Flagg and 25 minutes of AD and Kyrie together was malpractice considering what Gobert went for just a couple years ago.

There’s just no way Nico could be right. Teams have gone decades without getting a guy of Luka’s caliber, and the Mavs had him and threw him away for Cooper Flagg and a bag of half eaten and stale potato chips.

Nico Harrison had such a skewed, vindictive view of his star player that he heavily undervalued him and was so terrified that it would get leaked, that he traded with the only person he trusted, his old buddy rob. That is a much more likely story compared to the NBA moving Luke to LA and basically destroying Dallas in the process, even if they got cooper flagg.
