i believe so too. whatever qualms one may have about his style of play, derozan always gives it his all on the court and is a great member of the community off of it. and you guys had him in his prime, at his best.
speaking of lowry tho, two of my favorite GOZ episodes include the one where house magic arrive in tor’onto and lowry refuses to give up derozan on account that he is his friend, along with the episode in which lowry breaks down when demar gets sacrificed for kawhi. i felt like both episodes captured the relationship between the two players, as well as what each player means to the franchise (even if one had to be sacrificed).
God I miss GOZ. Those 2 episodes were incredible.
Demar and Kyle were the main reason this team had one of the very best records throughout the 2010’s. Demar is just such an amazing dude. And honestly I love his style of basketball, it won’t win you championships, but his footwork is as good as it gets and long twos are the prettiest thing in basketball. It won’t take you to the promise land, but he’s just so smooth and fun to watch, I love his game.
Yeah I can never hate DeMar. He’s #2 behind Lowry for me for GROAT. I still remember him throwing up he’s got us on twitter when Bosh went to Miami. And whatever his playoff failures might be, he was still part of the rise of the era we’ve had in the mid to late 2010s.
Lowry was there for the championship, that’s why.

before Lowry won us the championship, DeMar won our hearts. That Kawhi trade doesn’t happen without DeMar (and not just as a trade piece, valuable enough to bring a guy like Kawhi over)… but because those two built a culture that Kawhi could be dropped in.
They had more success in the East during the 2010s than every team, but a Lebron team. When the 2016 (eventual champs) stomped & swept through the first two rounds, the Raptors took them to 6 games.
Even before Drake feud with Kendrick, pretty sure more people like DeMar than Drake – local man – himself. And it took a ring for Lowry to raise to that level.
The fact that DeRozan had enough value that he was able to be traded for fucking Kawhi Leonard should make him the GOAT raptor tbh
