Oddly enough, Ja could benefit a lot from being on a team like the Thunder. (Not that the Thunder would benefit at all) Just because I doubt the cohesion of the Thunder squad would be dented at all by someone like Ja. He’d have no sway, and their coaching staff doesn’t seem the type to take baited fights or give much tolerance to egotistical attitudes. Someone like Ja would find themselves very quickly feeling “sink or swim”, and know they have the shortest leash they’re ever going to get.

In terms of skill ja is a straight upgrade from IQ, there’s a lot of PG talent in the league but they are not very available or affordable

I didn’t realize Maxey is only listed at 6”2. He must have a long wingspan, or perhaps may be moving so fast he’s undergoing length expansion. I know he’s not huge but he seemed longer to me.

EDIT: Quick internet search reveals a ~6”7 wingspan for Maxey, ~6”4 wingspan for Brunson.

Most fans I see are very conflicted. We love Ja warts and all, and he DEF has that Memphis feel for the most part. The problem is the ship on him being a “leader” has kinda sailed so the locker room is rudderless, but the biggest thing is he doesn’t even average 50 games a season on his career which is a major problem for a non leader that doesn’t seem to be improving, his base skill is just so damn high that it makes you worry to do anything major with the guy, but damn that doesn’t seem worth a max to me let alone to be UNTOUCHABLE. Especially not after bending over backwards for him for years.

I actually don’t super care for Verno this is one of the reasons why, dude isn’t bigger than the program and tbh isn’t even bigger than those who have come before him. People just confuse followers for culture, and in our miniscule market people can be terrified of losing that, I personally am more scared of seeing another 5 years of flashing in the pan for NOTHING.

He is supposed to be so much better than the guys who came before yet we are still always a guaranteed first round exit, at least the core 4 could win series and not just have 1 or 2 electrifying games in a round.

So tldr most fans love him but the shit is just piling up, and we have a unique window where we could pull out from Morant and still have a good team to work with.

No way I would trade him right now unless someone offered something approachjng what we got for Bane.  Not saying that’s his value, it’s not, but there is just no reason to do a deal now.

He’s got two more seasons on his deal after this season.

We have two firsts, possibly 3, in what might be a generational draft.  Looks like suns will not be in the lottery, so that leaves our own pick.  If we tank the second half of the season because Ja continues to pout and fake injuries and sandbag his performances when he does play, oh well.

And trade market is in a weird place.  It isn’t even the Trae deal I’m referring to as I think Trae is a special case as a ceiling limiter.  This is the least “arms-race” kind of feel that the trade market has had in a long time, in both conferences.

So you just sit on him for now.  If you trade him, you trade him in the offseason when it’s easier to make deals anyway.

And here’s part of the problem with Ja right now. He didn’t have an agent to gently lawyer speak the FO’s concerns to Ja. So when ZK says “he’s only played 77 games in 3 seasons and wants an extension?!” The agent could say “Ja they love you and want to give you the keys to the city. You just have to have a positive attitude and play at least 65 games this year.” It’s going straight to Ja as “You’ve only played 77 games in 3 seasons and want an extension?! How dare you?” It’s so personal and he wears his heart on his sleeve. Plus he’s seeing many former grizz players having success after being traded. He probably thinks all this is the FO’s fault.

Yeah, I’m not a huge NFL fan but there are a huge number of journalists who actually talk X and O’s and break down games. While NBA fans were gushing over Prime’s coverage because they weren’t actively shitting on the product ESPN style.

Two things can be true at once. Stop speaking in internet brainrot hyperbole.

Brooks is dirty. Brooks does make dangerous plays. Brooks is also clearly a cohesive locker room guy much like many enforcers past and present.
