NBA broadcasts should show FTs being shot in a quadbox, with replays of the foul + other recent plays in the full screen
We don’t need to see Free Throws being taken in full screen until the release of the last in the set of FTs.
We need to get rid of the fluff during FTs as well. Always promoting something or showing a schedule of upcoming broadcasts is just tiring, we don’t need that.
During Lakers-Spurs the other day before a Laker foul led to SAS FTs, they showed Luka huddling up and him talking to his team about their miscommunication that led to them needing to take a foul…
That’s fluff! Don’t focus on that! Show the actual play again (they never did), so we can see where the Lakers’ D messed up.
It’s so simple, but they refuse to do it.
Free throws aren’t something we need to actually see. It’s just make or miss, nothing strategic or interesting until the potential for a rebound comes into play.
It can be really hard to judge where a play went wrong for a defense in real time at the wide angle. To see it again, and slower, it could allow us to see who missed a rotation, or who was late to help, etc. To be clear, I want a replay of the full build up of the play, not just the end when the foul finally occurred.
Like imagine trying to evaluate defensive backs in football if they never showed replays. I feel that way with the NBA. It’s hard to tell when normal-level bad defense happens.
It’s obvious when someone isn’t trying or makes a highlight block, but like 80% of stuff in the middle of the extremes just goes under the radar a lot IMO.
