If he was talking about before LeBron joined the Heat in the summer of 2010 then he’s right. The version of Shaq on the Cavs was not someone who stayed in shape, or was someone you would emulate to become a champion. With Luka, LeBron can show him habits that sustain someone through their career so I do think it’s a valid point.

Around 15years ago, there was a massive federal investigation which took down many MLB & NFL players, including Placido Polanco, Andy Petitte, Roger Clemens, etc … which only took down a single NBA player: Rashard Lewis. The investigation was centered around Miami-based clinic named BioGenesis.

Rich Paul, and others close to LeBron, during that trial televised on C-Span, as well as written about by many major newspapers and magazines at the time, were shown on camera entering biogenesis in Miami (and testified against by the bimbos who worked the front desk for BioGenesis) to pick up packages labeled “LJ”.

Those packages contained Winstrol, Deca Durabolin, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, Human Growth Hormone, etc.

The more visible Rich Paul is in the public, the more attention it draws to the PED posession charges he took on the chin for LeBron in the early 2010’s …. And the worse it is for LeBron’s legacy retaining an undeservedly clean reputation.

Jameer Nelson, Gilbert Arenas, Dwight Howard, Westbrick and LeBron all escaped that case with “not guilty” verdicts, on the technicality that they weren’t personally on camera entering biogenesis’ facility, and that their initials on packages isn’t enough to convict. I think this is actually pretty accurate, though Rich probably doesn’t mean to include Wade in this bucket. LeBron himself has talked a ton about how much he learned and grew from the people in Miami. (He also credits Kobe, and his experience on the redeem team a bunch in this regard.)

Whether you think that was LeBron was immature and didn’t take advantage of having late-career Ben Wallace and Shaq around is another thing, I think. Maybe that’s Paul being a bit of a biased storyteller, but the general contour is true– LeBron was a kid most of his first stint in CLE, and grew up a ton in MIA.
