The big difference is Wemby has much better/quicker feet. Gobert is an incredible interior defender, but when he gets isolated on the perimeter he looks like a giraffe trying to walk for the first time.
The big difference is that Wemby helps on both sides of the court.
Feel like that’s because Gobert is only good defensively. He doesn’t play offence enough to offset being cooked this way.

Joe (and really, the entire Celtics development staff) have been so unbelievably good at squeezing every ounce of potential out of players. They turned Luke Kornet from a floor spacing big who lost his shot on his way out of the league into one the best rim protectors and pick and roll centers in the league.

I was okay with the gather step rule changes provided they didn’t let them slip further and they’ve really been letting them slip as of late. That’s a pretty egregious travel on the second shot.

i usually defend these but he took three steps after gathering. he had to take the extra step so his foot wouldnt be on the line
He gathers with his left foot on the ground, or maybe in the air if you count the gather as later, either way it doesn’t matter because that wouldn’t count as a step anyway.
He then puts his right foot down, which is step one, and uses it to hop back and take steps two and three. He needed to time his gather with his right foot down here so that does not count as a step (make it the gather step).
