[Highlight] Evan Mobley with the Dream Shake and dunk on Rudy Gobert (with a replay)
Beautiful move but that’s not a dream shake
Not even close. Nice ball fake though. Don is teaching him some things.
That’s Rondo’s move
I remember cooking kids with the rondo fake in middle school lol
I’m gonna annoy my kids with Rondo highlights the same way my dad annoyed me with Pete Maravich
And it was a travel.
Why not? Ball fake towards the basket, ball fake back out, then back to the basket.
Here’s one where Hakeem does the same thing on The Admiral.
Because it’s not the dream shake lol
I made this video and somewhere in there I talk about what makes the Dream Shake what it is.
The Finals the NBA Didn’t Want You to Remember https://youtu.be/zhMJgjCTNWU
Hakeem had a million fakes, this isn’t what is considered “The Dream Shake” though
I can’t really blame anyone for being confused given how much that clip gets circulated and labeled as the Dream Shake. But the Dream Shake wasn’t that. As the name implies, Hakeem would give an extremely quick shake of the shoulders to freeze his defender before making a move, typically a turnaround fadeaway - or he’d fake the fadeaway and transition into an additional move like a step through (MJ and Kobe both did this all the time).
It’s harder than it should be to find an isolated clip of Hakeem doing it because the Robinson move shows up so much. Ironically, this clip of Shaq is actually a great example.
This game is what I hoped Mobley would be for the entirety of this season. Aggressive and confident
He just doesn’t have it. I’ve given up hope that he’s gonna step up and be the superstar we need. Five years in, he’s pretty ok being the third option.
DPOY pretty okay… Lol
that’s cute. We need him to be even better than that, yes we do to take this team to the top, and he doesn’t give a shit.
Chet variant
A dream shake is a body fake. You start in a post-up with the defender behind you, you fake to one side with your body by twisting at the hips and shoulders, then twist back in the other direction. Done on two feet stationary
This was a ball fake, extending the ball on a fake layup on a drive, then turning back so the defender flies by.
Bro that was a nasty finish
Why is Mobley a monster once in a while but often looks like he’s scared to take over the game offensively? Like is the coach giving him shit when he misses or it’s just lack of confidence?
He doesn’t have the insanity required to make it to the top. It’s sad honestly, because you can see the talent, but never the drive.
Our future success is dependent on him being a superstar but he looks content being the third option. Occassional blocks, occasional rebounds, defensive success, and he goes inshallah my job here is done. And then about 10% of the time he hits you with this and you get your hopes up again.
Phenomenal move, but not a Dream Shake
It’s actually better than a Dream Shake
Idk man. There’s something so satisfying about a true dream shake
It’s the cookie dough
lol
The Gobert haters are gonna love this
He was dominating the Cavs for the first half.
check DG highlights when uploaded, he cooked him Curry style
Rudy dominated the Cavs Thursday and dominated the Cavs today in the first half lol
we calling ball fakes dream shakes now?
titles here are just becoming ad libs with basketball words lol
(people are downvoting this? lol, like, what do y’all think a dream shake is?? oofta)
Are just? Titles here have been garbage for years.
for sure, just feels like the nonsense jargon has gone way up, like almost every one has some super simple term used completely incorrectly
Wolves fans in denial
That’s not a dream shake
I hate that you have Cavs flair. Learn what a Dream Shake is, youngster.
? lol, it was a great fake…… i’m just calling out the bad use of terminology (something that i’ve seen skyrocket on this sub the last year or so)
if you don’t know what a dreamshake is, they could just not use the word lol
That was actually a Dreamshake Pro Max+™
just so people know/can learn
the dream shake is when a player (mostly hakeem lol) would land a jump stop (almost always with their back to the basket, often on the catch so they still had a live dribble available) so that their pivot foot could be either foot, then wiggle/fake one or both directions, then actually go into a move using one of their 2 possible pivot feet
it is a riff off of triple threat position, but usually in the post and allowing either foot to be the pivot foot which is a bit unique
Just so people can learn, if we watch this video:
https://youtu.be/9J-WJ5739Tg
Half of these are done with a live dribble, not off the catch.
So, while I appreciate your explaination, maybe somebody can learn something today.
Maybe we can tone down the “well ackshually”s and just enjoy the highlight.
this is just a mix of hakeem making moves…. not every move by hakeem was a dream shake… whatever lol, words have lost all meaning
and i never said it had to be off the catch, just that is most often was, his famous move named after him wasn’t a regular fadeaway with a fake lol
(oh i see, you are literally the one that called it a dream shake from the start, condolences)
as a Rockets fans, Dream Shake just means Hakeem shook off a defender with at least one shoulder fake and then a spin move around the committed defender
I mean, did fans and announcers call anything like that a dream shake? yes, all the time, which is part of why this term is a such a funny and debated thing in basketball. The 90s were CRAZY with people arguing about what counts as a dream shake lol
It’s not really up for debate though. It’s not an official move or anything. It was literally just Hakeem (Dream) losing his defender in the post with any combo of shoulder shimmies (Shake), and the announcers would call it a Dream Shake.
Dream shake????
Not a Dream Shake
Dude in the upper-right of the thumbnail is gonna’ haunt my dreams.
That’s the ole show and go
👍 show and go into pivot spin dunk
I count two steps so it’s a travel not dream shake.
It’s not a dream shake and it’s a travel. If it were two steps it’d be legal, but it was three steps. I’m seeing this move a lot in the NBA and no idea why it is being allowed.
He clearly gathers in the air and his right foot comes down after which is his pivot. Then he puts it down again (travel) and moves it around a bunch more.
Step through dream shake. Legal. No problem.

Thank you
Real one
Nobody talking about the lay gobert tried at the start 😭
Brendan Haywood shit — you’re 7 feet tall if you don’t dunk the ball with your big ass, smh.
Mobley literally just stopped off the dribble. Not even close to dreamshake which was a crossover and footwork (in the space of a phone booth) that had david robinson in a blender.
Gobert ability to get back on defense is amazing.
This was cool and all, but I feel much more comfortable when my boy Mobley does a couple of quick pump fakes before getting stripped for holding the ball too low
Can we stop calling every post move a dream shake?
Gobert is a highlight magnet
I don’t scream travel as much as others, but did he not take 2 steps after his gather and stop?
Rondo fake
Gobert keeps getting his balls toyed with
Isn’t that the rondo?
Somehow that move still looks so stiff. Homie needs a Viagra sponsorship.
Still soft af. From A Cavs fan btw.
