Zubac was getting DPOY and All-NBA love last year. He is like Center Derrick White all the metrics love him. He would definitely flourish on a winning basketball team.

Sure we can say Garza is playing well, but he literally cannot defend, he just has physical limitations. They’ve done an incredible job still making him a positive player despite that, but we’ve seen in the NBA countless times that good regular season player does not equal good postseason player.

Getting an All-Defense level player that would instantly solve the rebounding and rim protection issue would be a no-brainer. It would take a lot, but people said the Derrick White trade was too rich and look at that now (Zubac is post-breakout too, unlike White was at the time of the trade).

Zubac is awesome, I don’t think the fact that he doesn’t shoot threes is a problem. There’s really only a handful of centers in the league that actually space the floor on the perimeter in a meaningful way while also playing good defense, it’s crazy that we had two of them the last couple years. It’s really more about asset management and what the Clippers would actually want in return

also, Garza’s been playing pretty well recently, but I 100% do not trust him as part of a playoff rotation. just gives up too much on defense

There is a way, it involves trading Hauser + a vet min and then using the Porzingis TPE. It locks us into being a tax team, but it keeps us out of the 2nd apron.

And then we’d be hoping that Simons extends on a friendly deal in the offseason.

Hauser + Minott + pick(s) gives LAC a lot of wing depth, a big boost to their spacing and a DJJ replacement. So if they wanted to move off Zubac and focus on their 5-out bigs (Lopez/Collins) that could be the play.

Whereas the Pacers are on track for a historically awful year. They are super dependent on Haliburton and they have a huge gap at center. About the only competent player is Pascal and I love him. Mathurin is a Hali merchant and needs to be shot into the sun

Yeah the Celtics are really impressive. I agree the Pacers had some injury issues but the Celtics lost their top player and three major starters and even a bench player. Hell I thought Neemais Queeta was a benchwarming meme after watching a lot of Celtics games but he’s actually a serviceable player this year.

Honestly I thought the Pacers would’ve weathered the loss of Haliburton and Turner better but they are straight up awful. Some of those role players are total garbage when Hali is out.

It wasn’t just because of Tatum, it was more because nobody thought their C rotation would hold up at all. So far Queta has been awesome, and Garza/the forwards have been more than enough to hold down the fort.

It still doesnt make sense to me. I thought we’d be 5th to 6th seed and I was considered an optimist on the celtics sub. We went to our 4th string center and lost our former all defense PG and our all star mvp contender PF as well. Yet we are 2nd seed.

We should be getting eaten alive in the paint yet we arent. If we still had tatum, I’d completely understand having him plus a hustling big in the paint would be enough.
