Anthony Davis was traded to the Mavs almost a year ago now but despite that he has struggled with injuries way more since being traded and that has led to him missing a lot of time and with his recent hand injury he might miss even more time.

All of this has led to Cooper Flagg having played 8 more games than AD as a Mav. Flagg has played 37 and AD has played 29.

AD when he plays is still a phenomenal player but the Mavericks are very much Flagg’s team now due to his availability, potential, and youth.

It does not matter how good AD is, he is never going to mean as much to dallas as Embiid does to Philly. AD will always be the lackluster return for trading the second most important and beloved player in Mavs history, while Embiid was the Process. The Process has not let to a title, but Embiid was the face of the sixers for the last decade, won an MVP with them and embraced the city like very few players do. Even if AD comes back fully healthy and plays like prime AD he wont have the standing with the fans that embiid has (but his value would be way higher).

It’s still Embiid and it would probably take a postseason run where Embiid is healthy and helps the team to make it a real discussion. AD has the luxury of being on a team that no one really expects to be good, even this year, him missing time arguably helps them more than it hurts them.

Sixers are on Maxey’s timeline now and Embiid’s contract runs from when Maxey is 25 till he’s 29, what you’d expect to be his best years. If Embiid is hurt/underperforming in the playoffs as he usually is, it’s gonna be so much worse because it’s burning through Maxey’s prime years.
