Sometimes I think that Paul Pierce is not all that smart. The rest of the time I don’t think about him at all.

The conversation has to be “Trae Young, his expiring contract, and his $50million player option.” He’s a rental + possible 1 over priced year. Even if he is a good player, is not on a long term contract. If Trae was a on a rookie contract his trade value would be much much higher. You can’t just talk about the trade value of a player without mentioning his contract at the same time. The two are welded together.

The reality is at this 2nd apron market he is a negative value asset.

His contract is huge so salary matching is an issue. He is the worse of all time defensively as a player also an issue.

Offensive efficiency has been on a decline the last 3 years also an issue, u can argue well he doesn’t have the good supporting cast, but still worse player than him can manage to have better efficiency, he just likes that deep ball shots a lot.

the only thing thats a positive is him being a great passer and playmaker for the team. but at 50 mil a year u better be much better than that.
