I don’t get it though, it’s hardly something that needs to be taught other than basic form adjustment. You spend enough time in the gym putting up shots as a kid and you just kind of figure out a somewhat repeatable motion that works for you despite your body changing like crazy.
Idk if he was focusing too much on speed+agility stuff or maybe other sports. But he does not strike me as a kid who put in their 10,000 hours shooting jump shots before entering the league.

At least he’s a willing shooter with somewhat decent form. The confidence to be pulling as much as he is, is important to becoming a competent shooter. I could see him eventually working his way up to about average. He’ll never be above average though.

From someone who has actually watched every game he has played as a rocket. He wouldn’t help. Last season he was a liability outside of legit just three games. He has was overpaid by the rockets, and while he did help them get their legs under them his first season with them. Last season his body and size made him a bigger defensive liability than reed is now. And he takes a lot of bad shots, and can only really run a limited set. He would help if he would come off the bench. But I doubt he or udoka would accept that.

2nd OReb: Amen is wide open because he’s a 20% shooter. Could’ve easily put the ball on the floor and gotten a layup or a dump off to Adams

It’s not schizophrenia. It’s a complete unwillingness to even approach the basket. In literally any other era they would have tried to drive a couple of those offensive rebounds towards the basket. Every single one of those rebounds was immediately thrown back outside for another three point attempt.
Fine. You like it. You think it’s a natural evolution. I think it’s simplistic garbage where the entire offensive game is exactly one shot. There is no skill involved here except the very first one every kid learns. Chuck it up from outside.

I did. The last shot is off a “drive” except it’s not off the rebound. It’s off yet another pass out to the three point line.
My favorite one is the first one. Eason shoots a terrible 3. Adams gets the rebound four feet from the basket with no one between him and the hoop. He doesn’t even look at the basket. He has a literally 99% opportunity, all he has to do is look at the basket. He never does so. A 7 foot center thinks that getting the ball out to the three point line is the only option, instead of reaching out and dropping the ball in. That’s the game you are defending.
Not a single rebounder took even a glance at the possibility of heading towards the basket.
I mean Adams catches the ball mid-turn, his momentum is carrying him away from the hoop. He’s not a fast player. Could he have scored? Maybe. But he wasn’t expecting to catch the ball as it completely missed the rim, had no eyes on anyone in the paint, feels a body on him on his left, AND has an open player to pass to. Adams is not a scorer and doesn’t view himself as one, so it makes total sense that he isn’t immediately trying to score off a missed shot that was essentially an airball he wasn’t expecting to catch. He’s the 5th option on offense for that squad and he’s all too happy to keep vacuuming up rebounds.
You can look at this on a replay and say “oh well of course he could have scored” but that’s really easy, convenient hindsight. The game is moving fast, Adams wasn’t moving into a position to score, so he passed the ball. Pretty straightforward if you ask me.

A modern NBA player should be able to hit an open layup 99% of the time. Adams is a 15 year veteran. It’s ridiculous you are so desperate to defend such bad basketball.
