I’d assume water polo balls are lighter and generally not going to hit you anywhere near as hard as any sport given the lack of leverage and only using your arms with some body english at best vs your legs or driving through your legs in other sports.
You are wrong. You can throw those really hard and they are super textured so players have a good grip on them. You don’t pass or shoot a basketball full speed. You shoot a water polo ball with your full body rotation. Shots come off at 60-70 miles per hour. It weighs 75% as much as a basketball.
