4y150 is what Mikal Bridges got. About 20% of the cap, rather than the 30% max he could get. Less per year than Brandon Ingram, Ja, Zion, Garland, Bane, etc.

He’s a weird player and insanely hard to build a championship team around. You basically have to do it the way the 2024 Mavs were. Long D&3 wings, great rim protectors, some shooting. But even then, Luka is a Turnstile but at least he had a body big enough to mark up on another team’s 4. Trae is way harder to hide.

Just a wild place to be on a guy that has been top 4 in assists for 6 straight seasons and top 10 in scoring in half of those.

Who is going to go into a bidding war for him? I would have said Utah would until Keyonte George took the leap. Needs to be a desperate, poorly run team. So the Kings.

He was never offered the extension. If he had been offered one, he would have signed. If he wanted to leave, he’d sign the extension then demand a trade. But you don’t leave that amount of money hanging out there because it would be impolite to force your way out afterward.

If the Hawks do trade for AD, then they should keep Trae. They aren’t going to get anywhere near his value and his fit will be a lot better with so many defensive players around him - especially the bigs. They can try to run something similar to what Dallas did back in 2023 with Kyrie and Luka, but with Trae and JJ. Not saying it’ll work as well, but the potential is there.
