0 TO, high efficiency with great defence and best team record. This mans gotta be the MVP.
I mean with jokic out there’s literally no competition lol
Tbf the rest of the competition died. We are gonna get the biggest fraud mvp of all time if shai ever goes down and misses 65
Steph for MVP!
(Nah, it would probably become Cade, Brunson or Brown. An Eastern team would be likely)
I like Ant’s chance too
True. He’d be the best chance for the West with Jokic, Luka and Wemby probably all missing it
Luka is also not good enough at basketball
At defense
Well he’s also too ball dominant for that roster tbh
No one else is close note that Jokic won’t qualify— he’s going to sleepwalk into two straight
Unanimously
Consistency merchant
Am I consistent
I think so yeah
Thanks man
Can you dribble yet?
I dribble like Jaylen brown’s left hand a few years ago
So pretty consistent
I thought there was a thing about him struggling to go left for a while? Well my apologies, Mr. Brown, I wasn’t familiar with your game
He’s just way better than Luka at this point. His efficiency as a scorer and playmaker is simply unmatched.
Has a real shot at being the 2nd ever unanimous MVP
Someone might not vote for him just because “I don’t think anyone deserves a unanimous MVP” which is pretty silly but just objectively speaking don’t think anyone will have a real case over him
Much different context but will still be deserved of course
It’s kinda funny how he seems to be following Steph’s 2015 and 2016 10 years later
his stats aren’t as insane as steph’s 3 point records that year, but Shai is making some all time great shooting and efficiency numbers from inside the arc. i think you’re right in saying the contexts are different, but maybe not as different as it seems at first glance
By context what I meant was, I don’t see it being unanimous if Jokic was in the running still for this whole year. Steph did win it with prime Lebron and KD playing full seasons next to him
In terms of the actual year he’s having, it’s obviously one of the best ever though
Prime kd and LeBron weren’t putting up jokic numbers if jokic was doing that when Steph wom unanimous he would’ve never won unanimous lmao
In terms of raw statlines, no. But the main reason Steph got unanimous in the first place is because he had the most impactful season ever (measured by EPM, which SGA is a bit behind him right now at +10.1, Jokic has like +9.5), and obviously because he led his team to 73 wins leading the league in both scoring and efficiency and a steals title as well.
For Jokic, it would depend how good his team was and how many games they won. I can see your argument that he would snag a vote from Steph if this Nuggets team was in 2016 and won 60 games, but idk if it would happen honestly.
Kawhi won DPOY that year and was 2nd in MVP too. Him and the Spurs won 67 games. Obviously he was nowhere near peak level offensively though.
Neither of them were second in voting and KD didn’t even get the most votes in his team
I did note in another comment about Kawhi getting 2nd FYI. He didn’t have an all time offensive season obviously but he was DPOY and led his team to 67 wins
What are his shooting splits now?
Is he not a 50/40/90 anymore?
he’s very close. 55/42/88. those last coupe of ft% will be the dealbreaker
Tbf I feel like if 2026 Jokic had a healthy season in 2016, Steph wouldn’t have a unanimous MVP either.
Lmao he’d have probably won MVP. Think about it, Russ hadn’t averaged a triple double yet, so he would be the first person since Big O to do it, who was ranked much higher all time back then.
Throw in the fact that his efficiency was as bonkers as it is and yea it’s a contest.
The triple double fact is the most crucial factor imo, cause it was unfathomable still at that stage.
Triple double fans…you think after Jokic couldn’t win MVP over SGA with his season last year, after SGA led the Thunder to 68 wins, that Steph’s 73 win Warriors wouldn’t have gotten him MVP over this Jokic period? That’s a massive stretch.
The argument is that the narrative Russ had behind him would’ve instead gone to Jokic. It’s a fact Russ got votes for averaging a triple double.
But would that narrative for Russ have worked in 2016 and not 2017?
They’re not saying Steph would have lost votes to Jokic in 2016…they’re saying Jokic would have won it over him. One look at 2025 and SGA’s season combined with the Thunder’s 68 wins propelling him over Jokic last year tells me otherwise.
That happened to LeBron before iirc? Some of the people who have votes are suspect…
Kendrick Perkins, we’re looking at you
Would’ve been 3 straight years of Shai and Jokic being the only deserving votes
Best defensive game I’ve seen from him this season. Deni was getting locked up
Literally a plug-in player
Comparing Luka to Shai is disrespectful to Shai.
The only thing Luka has going for him is playmaking and that’s it. And Shai’s still getting better at it, narrowing that gap as well
All time great guard peak
Best player in the league.
Such a fun player to root for
Fake MVP because Jokic is injured
Obviously you’re joking, but some people genuinely think that. SGA is closer (if not even ahead) to Jokic than Jokic was to Embiid in 2024 before Kuminga ended his prime. Jokic fans are the last people on Earth who get to put any asterisks on injury related MVPs.
That Embiid season was crazy
field goal merchant
Legitimately approaching the perfect guard game
We’ll never forget the first time we won though!
We started the process, the fact the Thunder are beatable :)
Every team is beatable it’s just about how well you can hide it and so far we’re doing a pretty good job, good game we had a fun little series good luck with the rest of yalls season
Yeah just catch them on the road in a second game of a B2B and/or have Wemby! Easy Peezy!
MVP
MVP!
He’s so good it’s not even funny
unanimous mvp
Having a top 5 guard prime of all time and he’s not 5 and maybe not 4. I believe he’s in Jordan, Steph, Magic territory after these last 4 years.
Efficiency merchant, bro playing like there is still anyone competing for mvp against him
His consistency is seriously astounding
Field goal merchant
He’s gonna be anonymous mvp now with Joker injury
People definitely know him, he’s got what a pro wants.
Our team stinks bro lol
yall right there tho bro, just need like a piece or 2
