Prime app is a much better experience in game, but it is annoying that it doesn’t have the pre-game stream like the NBA app.

NBA app is terrible. You are completely correct and I switched to Amazon for league pass for all the reasons you wrote. Like, why is the audio so bad? I thought it was me, but apparently the league office hasn’t noticed?

the reason is a technical one … AWS vs Microsoft Azure

since prime is owned and operated on AWS there are less technical issues that can come up. and if there is, it is much easier to troubleshoot and resolve because it is on one infrastructure

nba.com is hosted on MS Azure and is not a closed loop system. they use a variety of third party to host and streams games. if there is an issue, this generally causes lots of finger point to the issue between the different companies that are responsible for a part of the streaming experience

Prime sucks because if you try and start a stream from the beginning, and the game has ended, but the stream has not, it will just bring you to live stream - spoiling the outcome of the game, if you were trying to watch it delayed.

Also, there is no “All Possessions” clip on Prime app, and the 10 minute condensed is not available until several hours after the stream has ended.

I tried the Amazon app and hate it if the game has already started or Im a little behind. Because I cant make it not give me a live preview of what is going on right now when I highlight the game.

Also switching broadcasts is sometimes hard.

I’ve had the opposite experience. NBA games look better on the NBA app on my PS5. Looks like it runs at a higher frame rate too. NBA League Pass games on my smart TV’s Prime app run at a lower resolution for me.

Edit: Just to add some context, the issue isn’t my TV or internet connection. I’ve streamed live Netflix 4K content without any issues on my TV.

The league pass app has been trash forever. Thats what happens when you have no competition. No reason to make improvements if theres no other options.

I only watch league pass on desktop now. The roku app is horrific.

Mlb has the same problem, their streaming service feels like its from 2014

Prime’s audio is super glitchy, and has by far the worst fast forwarding of any video streaming service I’ve ever used.

Sometimes league pass jus crashes for me on apple tv. Like in the middle of a game. This year fortunately they dont have ads intermitently placed throught the games if you want to watch full recap but that shit was INFURIATING last year. If I tried to scroll to the end of a game to watch the last 20 minutes i had to scroll past and WATCH every two minute ad break

As an overseas fan, nba league pass is great. Before when it was with neurillion they had issues all the time but nowadays it’s pretty stable for me, and I’ve never had a blackout. Unlike MLB app as well, they don’t close it off at the playoffs and demand more money from me, which is appreciated.

My league pass app and peacock wouldn’t work for shit yesterday. Once you get all 7 additional apps and a vpn to obscure your location you’ll be able to watch most games.

Prime is genuinely so good, for my location they’ve integrated your nba and nfl subscription into the one interface so yesterday I could just switch back and forth nba games and MNF seamlessly.

I thought something was wrong with my TV or Internet for ages until I integrated it with Prime. The NBA app is fucking godawful. Not only is the quality bad like you said but it constantly has buffer issues.

And god help you if you want to rewind a bit, or pause and then come back. It’ll either take ten minutes or the whole thing crashes

NBA league pass on my tv was TERRIBLE last season for lags, but worked fine in my phone. And I could cast from my phone to the TV fine as well. Just the TV app sucked.

Fair points, but if you got league pass through yt tv last year it was essentially the same (or better) experience as Amazon this season

Personally I preferred YT TV because it was easier to switch between NBA games and other sports

In all fairness, Prime had League Pass integration for years. I had been purchasing League Pass through Amazon for multiple seasons, until last year when I got League Pass directly through NBA.

The only good thing about League Pass directly through the NBA is being to easily access old games. LP via Prime is less clunkier, and I can watch games on my TV (something I could never figure out to do with the NBA LP).

Agreed. Accessing on my laptop is finicky and not intuitive at all. For streaming on a Roku, I believe the audio sync issue only happened on certain(older?) devices. I ended up purchasing a new Roku and it works fine…

Has prime fixed their audio issues? Haven’t watched jn a while but their audio kept cutting out for a few games I watched.

Running a streaming service is really difficult. Netflix is in a tier of their own. Prime is very good. Can’t think of who would be third place because they all seem to suck. (I’m talking to you blurry Hulu)

Yes the world’s 5th biggest company who has the largest cloud servers in the world, and has been at the forefront of all internet technologies over the last 25 years including streaming live programming is better at broadcasting through streaming than the NBA.

NBA has ran leagu pass for over a decade, yet it’s filled with terrible UI.

NBA isn’t a tech company and it shows. They should stick to outsourcing their content instead.

NBA LP is really bad on apple TV and PS5. A few apps are.

Can you do multi view on Amazon App?

On the app my stream works fine but the web browser works like dog shit and looks terrible. The pirate streams look better and that’s inexcusable.

My biggest complaint about Amazon is that the volume of their commercials is consistently and very noticeably louder than the games.

I feel like this is a feature, not a bug. I’m sure NBA is more than happy to see you subscribe to the Prime. In the long run, this should prove to be more profitable.

Well one (Prime) is owned and operated by a technology company with decades of experience in this space

The other is a basketball company dressed up as an entertainment company, and they outsourced the league pass app to Microsoft in recent years but all the old problems seem to have carried over…

I’m never watching anything else on Prime TV other than Prime shows themselves. Their insistence on showing all the other subscriptions content on their app is infuriating so I refuse to support it.

I’ve also never had an issue with the NBA app, but admittedly only have a single team pass so have never tried to switch games which seems to be OPs biggest issue.

YouTubeTV’s league pass integration was also excellent. Shame Amazon had this stupid exclusive LP deal because I hate having to subscribe to more streaming services.

This is my first (and only) time using prime league pass, and I’ve found it to be terrible.

1. There are no replays for nationally broadcasted games. They go up 3 hours after completion on NBA’s league pass.

2. There is no quality option, it’s always on adaptive quality. Any time I fast forward a game it’ll dive into 160p crap for a minute.

I do get the audio sync issue on prime too it’s like I hear the live stream and 15 seconds ago at the same time. No idea how to fix it

It is not surprising the the people that own AWS and a streaming platform have better streaming.

Have nba league pass on prime… all of a sudden tonight now there is no upcoming games other than peacock exclusive games coming up in the next week or games already included in prime. Anyone having this issue? Is it a bug? Why is there no games available on nba league pass right now in the next week? I paid for the full year and my membership is in good standing btw… literally just watched games and could see future games the other night 

YouTube TV was much better imo.

Prime should just buy the NBA, like the entire NBA league.

Prime has been great! Haven’t even bothered linking the NBA app up with my prime account for the supposed benefits.

Literally the only thing that matters is it’s one more streaming service you have to buy if you want to watch all your teams games

I don’t care who has better what, I just want a one stop one service/app that has all the games, extremely simple request the nba cannot figure out
