Katy Winge: “Nikola Jokić is officially questionable to return with a left knee injury. Left knee is the area they are concerned about”
I feel like this is the first time I have ever even heard about Jokic being injured - either that or it has been a while.
The year they won he was nursing a wrist injury all year. It’s still taped up every game.
He’s had a lingering wrist issue but other than that, he’s pretty much been good to go for most of his career. Most games he’s missed recently was for the birth of his child by memory
He just doesn’t play with a style that gets injured really. Even in this play, he got his foot stomped on.
Can’t land wrong when you don’t jump and can’t pop your ACL on a crossover if you never change direction.
He’s still lugging a lot of weight up and down the court and he moves a lot and quite fast for a guy his size. Definitely don’t want to see him start to get knee or ankle injuries just as he’s entered his 30’s.
He’s gonna start getting little injuries here and there for sure but he doesn’t stress his knees as much as someone like prime Embiid. It would certainly help if he became a 2nd option in a few years.
Don’t think there will be anyone capable of taking over from him as a 1st option. Would need Jamal to be replaced by Shai or Ant or something.
Well at some point he’s gonna stop being a MVP caliber player. It might take a long time like for Lebron but he will eventually become a 2nd option (unless he retires).
He’s a beast. Rarely misses games
Usually he gets injured on his hand or something, leg injury is indeed rare for him
His arms bleed every game
Felt like his play style made him less prone to injuries but like all big men you can’t escape it. Hopefully it’s not the beginning of a trend.
Escape? This was accidental as his teammate landed on his foot.
“Questionable”. He ain’t coming back even if he’s fine.
As he shouldn’t, but if they’re even entertaining the idea thats probably good news.
Doesn’t matter much with regards to Denver I think. They always say questionable.
Fuck
He’s honestly prolly fine it doesn’t look that bad for a hyperextended knee injury
Hopefully when the Nuggets say questionable, it just means “not out for the season”. They have said Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, and Christian Braun were all questionable to return when they got injured.
I would guess Questionable is….somewhat good news?
The nuggets always say questionable to return even if they have a severe injury.
Any examples where that has happened?
Idk if they always say it but they did say questionable when Cam went out last week.
They said it when Gordon got his injury and Braun got his
When Cam went down he was listed as questionable to return
Aaron Gordon was questionable and played on a hamstring strain against OKC last year in the playoffs.
I can’t remember specifically, sorry. I just know there have been a few times where even though they’re listed as questionable I know for a fact they’re not coming back that game.
Better than the instant Shams tweet that “hes out for 9-12 months”
Honestly, yeah. They’d say he’s out if they even suspected real damage.
Honestly doesn’t mean much, unfortunately
It will be the longest 24 hours for the Nuggets fans
And NBA fans in general. Would hate for a long term injury for him when he is balling out like he has been
Amen to that. I for one don’t want to see the Nuggets fall below the 3 seed so we don’t have to play them or the Spurs until the WCF (if things stay as they are right now, but it’s the nba so who knows).
And his fantasy managers
It’s a good thing their concern is in the same spot as the injury, otherwise that would be weird.
He ain’t playing again tonight
🙏 ACL INTACT PRAYER CIRCLE 🙏
Questionable is good
They’ve said that for every nuggets injury, including cam, Braun and AG this year. It doesn’t mean anything
All of those are good injuries vs the other possibility
Him somehow getting back on the court after that would make my night.
Just got to hope it’s 2 weeks atp
You can question anything if you really want.
Hope big jok is ok🙏🏽
Oh no
looks like a hyperextension when he got stepped on.
That’s what I thought too, kinda looked like Cam’s injury
Can stepping on a foot hurt the knee? Was kind of weird. I guess he was moving backward and his lower leg got pinned down?
I feel he’ll be alright but may miss a few games.
His leg bent the wrong direction. Not far, but definitely bent
If that sucker gets puffy when it cools it’s probably a longer period out
Put a padlock on ball arena, forfeit season
Avs still gotta get in the building.
Keep him out this game and left him recover. Still a long season
Not worth it. He’s done for the night
He could have been shot in the head and he would be questionable to return.
He had 21 at half
Such insightful reporting. To my untrained eye I would have thought it was an orbital contusion they were concerned about.
To be fair, take the Wagner for an example. Everyone speculated it was a knee and it came out as an ankle. If the team is saying knee then we know it’s probably a knee injury.
Ouch looks like it hurt
I imagine some gambling obsessives dived for the sports books to pump MVP bets for SGA before the news got around.
He will be back next half
The nba isnt ready for 3rd half Jokic
I hope I’m wrong, but I think it’s only a matter of time before the injury bug catches Jokic. He’s a big boy and doesn’t take care of himself as well as he could. I hope not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes more common.
You have no idea what you are talking about. 9 years in the nba playing heavy minutes and he’s never seen any significant time for an injury. He takes great care of his body. He only got hurt on this play because of contact made by his teammate.
what makes you say he doesn’t take care of himself? Dude goes and lifts after every game. He’s very close with his strength coach, who goes to serbia with him in the off season where Jokic has his own gym.
So a teammate stepping on his foot makes you think suddenly he is going to start falling apart? Reddit is dumb sometimes.
Uninformed people talking out of their ass have an opinion too.
