[Injury] Nikola Jokić went down holding his leg, was checked by the medical staff, and has limped to the locker room. Below is a full replay of the injury sequence.
I’m trying to be optimistic and thinking it doesn’t look that bad.
Did you see the angle during altitude halftime? His knee locks out backwards pretty hard. Certainly a hyper extension. I think it’s best case Cam’s injury and worst case…. Don’t wanna say it.
Giannis had a brutal looking knee injury and came back a week later to win a ring.
Hopefully it’s something like that. The worst case scenario would fucking suck so much for the league man
That was my first thought too. Reminded me of Giannis’s hyperextension.
He wouldn’t have come back that soon during the regular season
Hoping it’s the best case scenario but if it’s the worse case…Joker is FAR and away the one player that can bounce back without missing a beat.
Why?
Because he has a magic ball that tells him the future.
I CAN SEE THE FUTURRREE
i assume hes making the point that Jokic doesnt require much in the way of athleticism or even mobility to be effective. The man isnt beating anyone off the dribble or going up for the lob. He can do most of his damage standing in one spot which can be practically anywhere in the halfcourt.
I mean he caught his one lob of the season in the first quarter but I get your point.
FWIW that definitely looks like a hyperextension, not a tear.
certainly a huge sigh of relief if that ends up being the case.
He doesn’t play like a traditional big.
Because he doesn’t depend on his athleticism or vertical or speed to dominate. If you told me jokic had suffered multiple knee injuries, I’d say it makes sense
Jokic has very quick feet, which is a huge part of his game. But the larger issue is that even if we say he’s not very athletic for the nba, it’s precisely those guys that aren’t super athletic and then get hurt that suffer the most. If you’re already behind in terms of nba athleticism and then lose some, that’s more of a hindrance than a guy who has some to spare. People often make that claim, but i can’t think of any guy like that who lost that little bit of their athleticism and continued to be good.
To your point Jokic does have a good bit of quickness for someone his size. A decent part of his game involves putting bigger defenders a bit off-balance on the perimeter with his pump fake and blowing by them. Also is able to push the ball up the court on the break with speed and has good quickness coming out of his spins in the post
People act like Jokic isn’t athletic because he has a bad vertical but he is very athletic
Yeah people talk about him sometimes like he’s Andre miller or something. Jokic is nimble and big, with good vision and great touch. Three of those things won’t go away with an injury, but losing that bit of quickness always makes a difference
He doesn’t rely on athleticism.
You mean he doesn’t HAVE athleticism
Have you watched his game? It doesnt use much altheticism. Its mental.
Most likely meniscus from a hyper extension like that
Worst case is PCL tear based on mechanism
How bad is a PCL tear compared to ACL or MCL?
Well P is a larger letter, I think it’s worse
Bro, you’re probably asking a 14yo who copy and pasted something from ChatGPT
Yeah I tried watching in slow motion the first time they show it in this video. When he gets his foot stepped on his body wants to move back but his foot is locked down and his knee extended backwards. Man that didn’t look good. At least it didn’t twist but damn.
I am actually terrified
As someone who’s torn my ACL three times playing basketball, that looks like a torn ACL.
I thought he said he’s good but who knows
I don’t think it looks like knee ligaments like tbf
This exact tiny hyperextension is how my ACL tore.
End me
The Broncos are still doing well. The Rockies…never mind
The Avs are on a massive tear too
best team of all the Denver ones
As an Oilers fan, I can’t help but be jealous at how big of a wagon the Avs are.
Wemby is the McDavid to Chet’s MacKinnon.
You’re god damn right
(Please ignore my NBA flair in this matter, thank you)
Wild arent too shabby either
(I hate the NHL divisions)
Best 3 teams in the league in the same division rn (Stars)
Everyday, I thank McJesus that the Oilers are not in the Thunderdome division.
The Rockies are literally 0-0 right now, prime ethical .500 ball, the Hawks of the MLB
Probably the best record they’ll have all season
They got a nice ball park at least
avs are killing it too
I feel like crying. The Nuggets are cursed this season.
It didnt look that bad. He’s likely back within a month. Just let the stallion rest for a few weeks.
Hey man, Franz went down similarly and it ended up only being a high ankle sprain! There’s hope!
FREE Derek Chauvin ! !!!!
I’m gonna drink a bottle of laundry detergent peace out
save me some tide pods
I have some recs if you like
[removed]
suffocation, no breathing
Jokic’s left knee got me fucking pleading.
I bought my Serbian wife tickets for Wednesday as a Christmas gift. FML.
You and Zach Lowe
Poor Zach I was thinking about this
me too 💔only my second time seeing the nuggets and this happens
I feel for nuggets fans, down the franchise player and 3 starters. Val is going to play starter minutes going forward. I hope it’s nothing serious.
2025 can fuck right the fuck off any time now.
2026 will be better… Right? Guys??
Sorry, the best we can do is WWIII.
That’s for 2027. 2026 is for a pointless quagmire in Venezuela.
Oh and OKC will win it again and they will get the 1st draft pick.
And LeBron retire
Nope, the aliens are finally gonna take LeBron back from us
According to this thread it looks like a minor injury and also an MCL injury and Jokic should be back for the third quarter or out for the season.
Anyone else get intimidated by all the orthopedic surgeons on r/NBA? Just don’t want to look dumb in front of so many experts.
Yeah, the reality is you never know anything until the MRI comes back.
Half the people are talking out their ass and the other half of people may know a little something, but still talking out their ass because they don’t have MRI vision.
The only thing I can say is that Jokic is a tough cookie and if he goes down like that and is limping off the court, that isn’t a great sign.
LOL, yall just need to chill and put down the x-ray glasses.
Needed this LOL. Thank you
Reddit doctors all got the notifications on their phones and immediately grabbed their stethoscopes
Bruh that’s horrible.
He was, against all odds, having an even better season than last year and was going to be the first guy since Larry Bird to finish in the top 5 in MVP voting for 5 years straight, I believe. Still hoping it’s not bad.
He could become the third guy ever to be 6 straight seasons on the top 2 of MVP voting, joining Bill Russell and Larry Bird
My bad!! That’s 30x more impressive.
They didn’t have to come one up your stat like that lmao
fuck off man the season is way worse if jokic misses meaningful time
The nuggets being a 6th or 7th seed when Jokic comes back is actually a scary fist round matchup.
Fade me fam
FUCK NO
[deleted]
Time and place mate
Yea that’s my bad I just clicked dudes profile and didn’t look at what post his most recent comment was on
looked serious… 2025 such a cursed year for so many players…hoping for the best..
The NBA is a worse product if Jokic misses time. I hope he’s okay.
Doesn’t look that bad. Likely some sort of strain, knowing Jokic it’ll be 2-3 weeks.
I’m not seeing anything pop in the knee or anything like that but his knee locked locked; it did not look good.
I didn’t see anything in his calf so hopefully best case scenario
I’m optimistic that’s all it is. Just a bad strain
r/nba 9⁄11
I am screaming into the ether right now…
You never want this for anyone, but especially Jokic who’s an Ironman and the life of this team. I actually feel sick right now
The way his knee shifted backward looked very similar to Cam, right?
Cam who and what was that diagnosis?
Cam Johnson 4-6 weeks
Cam Johnson, bone bruise on right knee.
Cam Johnson, hyper extension probably
it’s over it’s so over
What a grim thing to say
I don’t know if it’s a knee. He got stepped on and was shaking his foot pretty vigorously. Hopefully just a stinger
Franz was a high ankle sprain and was holding his knee in the same position Jokic is. I wonder if it’s that
Fuck man NBA is better when he’s healthy and playing.
Bumped into his knee
Damn it’s crazy how silent that arena got tho
I mean no one likes watching injuries. But yeah Jokic is kind of … like one of the best players in the world so a lot of people are fan of him even if they dont cheer for Denver.
it’s also just that he’s not a player you typically see riddled with injuries or having to miss the rest of a game. this is largely unprecedented
We aren’t Philly where they would be clapping
rent free is kinda krazy
I guess we’re going to find out just how good Adelman really is as a coach now.
Just yesterday I was watching insane Jokic highlights. Sad day for the NBA.
So what you’re saying is you jinxed him.
Not good by you.
Damnit, please no.
I hope this is one of the those injuries that looks worse than it is
Looked like a hyperextention. They can basically cripple you for 15-30 minutes than you’re okay. Hopefully that’s all it is.
Looks like an MCL. Not good.
I thought patellar tendon
Sure it’s not just kidney stones?
Lmao
Jumping would help those
I think we are gonna to have to amputate his leg.
Looks more like a pcl injury to me. Hypertension and knee buckled straight back
My thought too.
It look like Jones step on his foot? I hope it’s not a serious injury
Bumped into his knee or hyper extension
Noooooo
Daaaang. I did not like the way his hamstring just popped in that replay.
Push offs need to be outlawed.
Hope Joker is good man. Our rivalry is feeding the needy.
End me.
That sucks! Jokic is my favorite player, and my friend gave me his tickets to watch him play on New Years Eve. Get well soon Joker, the league is just so much better with him in it.
He was a a good dude
Kooof looks bad but maybe it’s just a hyper extension
SGA fans celebrating
please dont be a long term injury, I cant deal with another shai mvp
Definitely hyperextended it.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkk
Noooooooooooooo
Fuck no :( not jokic please
Hyperextension. Going to depend much on how flexible his joints are. Can be no damage and just some time to recover. I get them often (disabled with hypermobility so they are different for me), but I remember my first well. Scares the shit out of you. Hopefully most of his reaction was because of the shock of it.
Jarvis, more alcohol
oh no
I’m not even a nuggets fan and I want to end it all
I want to die
Looks like a hyperextension shouldn’t be too bad I think
This is all my fault. Only 2 pop funkos I have are Haliburton and Jokic. I’m sorry! I’ll try to grab a draymond one next just to see what happens.
KD got the same injury in 2022 and 2023 and was out at least a month for each.
Right before the half too, man this sucks.
Mother shit
pls just be a sprain
Holding his knee; holding his knee and down
FUCK NO!
R/NBA’s 9⁄11
As someone who has had several tendon tears over the years I can tell that this could be anything, but I hope it’s nothing serious.
A locked knee is never good, but hopefully its just a sprain and he isn’t out to long.
Reminds me of Lamar oden to Andrew Bynum knee injury.
Not my 1st round pic
Mcl?
Damn never wanna see that. Hopefully nothing too serious this nuggets team looks really good
Hopefully he isn’t out long
Crazy - you can see the shockwave from the popped ligament/tendon ripple up his leg through his glute in that last sequence. Jeez, really bummed to see this. Hope it’s not too bad, big fella. Sending good vibes for a quick recovery and not-so-bad prognosis.
So I guess we’re a play in team now
Spencer Jones man you ruined the season
Can we finally go back to having to get around your defender instead of through your defender?
The entirety of the Nuggets fate rests in whether he comes back ok.
Damn.. locked that knee out so bad his ass cheek shakes. Hope it’s not as bad as what it seems. Nobody wants to see this man go down.
waive that bum 21
Damn.
Waiting for the Doctor you tuber for the detailed explanation of this injury.
I was supposed to see him in toronto on Wednesday TT
This makes me ill
Please be okay, the league needs him
And there was no offensive foul called. Gotta love it.
He’s one of my favorites. Hope he’s all good.
I’m scared for him ngl
Maybe ESPN doesn’t have to worry about making excuses as to who should be this season’s MVP.
Bro is okay
Looks really bad…
Nuggets is gonna get exposed in the next 8 weeks. Without Joker they’re the worst team in the league even with Gordon, Braun and Cam. All injured now
Exposed?
Bro Adam Silver needs to scrap back to back games.
B2b got nothing to do with it, his teammate caused this.
Career ender
Maybe for Puka. The GOAT will be just fine
ACL. The vector was lateral.
all our parlays are chalked😿
I know that was an accident by Spencer Jones but this just shows lack of awareness. He gets slightly knocked off balance and that right foot goes back like 6ft without any thought that his MVP is right behind him.
If that ends up being a serious injury Nuggets fans will never forgive him.
