[Injury] Nikola Jokic down with a leg injury at the end of the first half
i’m at the arena and it legitimately felt like a funeral for a minute
As it should. This sucks
This era is completely cursed to somehow never have a great regular season
We’ve had 55 or more wins (including the 82 game pace of the 19⁄20 and 20⁄21 teams) exactly one time with prime and until now almost always healthy Jokic on our team lmao
You’ll always have the 2023 ring.
It’s extremely difficult winning a ring in this decade, and especially during the current second apron era.
You guys achieved that goal though and should be proud of that.
I hate when people complain about their teams who have won recent championships.
Sincerely, a Detroit sports fan
Don’t you dare take away my favorite pastime.
Sincerely, a Philly Sports Fan
At least your title wasn’t 50 years ago
I know you might be talking about yourself but it also feels like you are talking about me.
At least your title wasn’t… wait, you guys have a title? Must be nice!
(As a suns fan)
Yeah the good old days. Fond memories from 23 years before I was born.
People think the sky is falling around here after the spurs kicked our asses. I’m still happy as hell we won a championship. Just wish my dad lived long enough to see it.
Sincerely a Thunder fan
“Just wish my dad lived long enough to see it.”
Understand. I’m old, born in the 1960’s, been a Cubs fan since like 1970, watched Cubs with my grandparents on WGN in the early 70’s, they loved the Cubs so I did too, became my favorite sport.
Most know the Cubs hadn’t won a World Series before 2016 since 1908.
Many in my family didn’t live to see the Cubs win. My grandpa passed in 1993, my grandpa passed away in 2000, an aunt and an uncle passed before the Cubs won their chip too.
I’m happy the Cubs won in my lifetime, beginning to think they won’t win another one as I’m darn near 60 now.
Hi I’m a Kings fan I win
The Thunder sub was unbearable after the Christmas day loss. Hell, even after the Timberwolves and then Spurs (first) loss it started getting insufferable.
Like MFers, we won fuggin’ championship just last season and still have the best record in the NBA. That shit should be enough for us small market OKC fans to ride high at least for five years. Sure, it’d be a bit of a disappointment for this core to win just one ring, but it’s so damn hard to win just one. After July 4, 2016, I thought it’d be an eternity before we got back to contender status, never mind get back to the Finals.
As frustrating as that string of losses to the Spurs was, last year’s championship softened the blow quite a bit.
As a Mavs fan that is currently on hiatus, that 2011 title is still keeping me happy
It should, many NBA fans love that one.
Between that and the rangers, I try not to complain about shit
lol you think you’re team was cursed after winning the chip. We sold our souls for 2021
Lol and you got 2021, imagine being the clippers
Time and place dude
“Cursed eras” don’t contain a championship, buddy.
dude sorry, this sucks, but please, to even try and pretend like nuggets fans have been suffering for the last decade is comical
I was at the Jet game where Aaron Rodger’s went down with the Achilles. That feeling of disappointment is insane. I’ll never forget that feeling and described it as a funeral then as well.
It was the worst thing to happen to Jet on 9⁄11 in quite some time
Yeesh… I was worried I was going to see a mirror to Nurkic’s leg injury. Thankfully this doesn’t look like that, but no matter what, that’s probably painful as hell regardless of any damage.
I was at that Nurk injury game. Haven’t jumped since. Not worth it.
Yeah, I was at that game too. Very thankful I was at the opposite end of the court when it happened. 😭
I was at the Greg Oden injury game. I heard it clearly in the 300 level.
End back to back games
I was at game 7 when Hali went down and it felt the same way, even in OKC.
Is the game getting too fast? It is incredible how many injuries there have been.
The light has gone out of my life
Teddy Roosevelt being a Nuggets fan wasn’t on my 2026 bingo
that’s so fucking niche 😭
Elite ball knowledge omg
I have always had the Rough Riders in my all time top 10.
FDR is one of the greatest “what-if” figures alongside Bill Walton, Penny, Brandon Roy, and Derrick Rose.
JFK too
Shame his career was cut short due to injury
JFK - Out (Headache)
Fuck same man
So, eskimo brothers?
Important context being that Teddy Roosevelt went on from this all-time low point to become president.
Jokic comes back as Nuggets cling to 6th seed they knock out Rockets –> Spurs —> Thunder and win the chip confirmed
I know the feeling all too well.
Same
Fuck I hope it’s just a hyper extension
The worry for me is it didnt look nearly as bad as his pain did. Really hope he’s fine
Yeah it almost just seems like his foot got stepped on, which lead to a knee hyperextension.
Doesn’t seem like it should be bad enough for serious damage, but obviously things are different when you are 7 feet tall
Sports Doc guy on twitter says hoping for just a bone bruise (basically the same injury Cam Johnson had).
Dealing with bone bruise since October (from literally stairs). It’s a brutal injury that lingers for multiple weeks, months.
I have a bone bruise from falling down my snowed up deck stairs, and yeah it’s insane how long it lingers
I was just sitting down on the floor back in October to mess with some wiring under my desk and when I went to bring my legs in under me, my weight shifted to my left as my right foot slipped and the heel slammed directly into my shin. DAMN that stung like a mfer.
Even now, if I press firm on the spot I can feel some slight tenderness. XD Bone bruises suck, but I don’t recall having much issue walking after a couple of days, it was just extremely tender for a while.
I mean all that weight being put on a joint that is temporarily unbalanced like that can be enough to cause some ligament damage. A lot of times the torn ACLs we see come from the leg being out if balance for one reason or another during an explosive movement or a shifting of the weight on it, and that’s all it takes.
No idea if that’s the case here, but we have no idea just based on the clip.
The innocuous ones always seem to be the worst injuries.
Sometimes shit can hurt like a bitch and not be serious. Weird how that happens.
I was at a high school game where a girl went down with a leg injury. Based on her screaming, you would have thought she stepped in a bear trap. Turned out to be a sprained ankle, mom later told me she doesn’t handle pain well.
Later that season, a teammate dislocated her shoulder like Kevin Love did. She walked to the bench, said “I think I hurt my shoulder” and was more confused than anything.
People are weird.
people are definitely weird, but ankle sprains are weird too. i started dry heaving from the pain of rolling my ankle one time. like the girl you mentioned, i’m a wimp. but also, that pain was worse than any broken bone, dislocated joint or concussion i’ve ever experienced. it was nuts. and two hours later it was just moderately sore.
He got his foot stepped on then this. If anything other than ACL a ham/quad thing but not ideal either way. But it was a contact injury if that helps you sleep.
Torn my ACL. Looks like a sprain to me. Not a doctor. But I did stay at a holiday inn last night.
Not a doctor.
I believe you.
But I did stay at a holiday inn last night
I don’t believe you
From a layman’s perspective, id be worried about torn/ripped meniscus tissue which is bad longterm.
Here go the Reddit doctors lol
I mean they very clearly said “from a layman’s perspective” I get being annoyed when people are trying to dissect injuries through highlights but this isn’t really doing that imo
Ain’t this what happened to giannis before his nba finals appearance
That was crazy. I thought Giannis was done for the year and he came back and won a championship
Just shut the whole team down right now.
Jokic is an absolute iron man and I hope it’s nothing serious
Spencer Jones stepped on his foot and that somehow led to his knee popping and him going down screaming in pain. Idk man, looked not good.
One time I saw Giannis have the nastiest knee hyperextension and then come back and keep playing. Fingers crossed!
That one still blows my mind. I thought at the very least he would have shredded a chunk of meniscus cartilage.
He’s had bad luck with lower body injuries since so maybe it did
I think he said recently that he still feels pain from that injury so he might’ve hurt it coming back so fast.
Still got the chip which I’m sure he’d prefer to have than a 100 percent healthy knee.
Yeah i thought the bucks were done after that injury, he came back and they won the ring
Yeah but he’s had issues with that knee every since
Yeah he tore his pcl there and only reason he came back was because it was the finals
I mean Giannis literally a demigod
greek god
MFer won his title like 8 games after that hyperextension
He has been missing time regularly since then. Jok is different though. His playstyle may get him off from unexpectedly exacerbating it in the future
Jokic gonna water polo his way to 30/10/10 still
He was definitely in pain but there was no sound of screaming on the broadcast lol
Serious injuries have nothing to do with being an iron man. Tatum was an iron man until his Achilles popped.
Yep, Klay Thompson was an iron man too.
The best player we’ll ever have and we’re going to make the Finals once during his whole career
I know some people will say “you won once it’s all good” but when you compare it to how other players with similar numbers careers have gone it feels like a massive missed opportunity
This team isn’t actually going to get healthy this year I’ve seen this script too many times to not know better we’re going to be the 6th seed after Jokic misses time and lose in the 1st round
You just hope it’s a minor sprain or Charlie horse.
Even if it’s 4 weeks we’re probably going to go like 2-12 in that span and in the West that’s easily enough to permanently put you into playin conversations
A team without Jokic Braun Gordon and Johnson is going to be god awful Jamal Murray isn’t 2018 LeBron you can’t expect him to do all of this with actual scraps
Look at our schedule the next month those are all probably losses even without just Jokic let alone Jokic and multiple other starters
Braun and Gordon will be back soon, they were slated to come back this road trip.
Slow down dude. The NBA season is long and if your team is healthy, they got a shot. No need to get too down.
The dooming doesn’t help anything. CB and AG are due back by the end of the road trip.
Losing Joker for any extended period of time will suck, but we’ve got the bench depth this year to make up for him being out that we didn’t have the past few years.
Dude, the West is bad this year.
30 teams in the league. Do the math on what the odds would be of winning a ring if it were random. To be honest, ring inflation from past eras has people underrating what LeBron and Curry have accomplished in this time. Won’t be a lot of stars winning 4 any time soon. Jordan won in a mostly domestic NBA with few foreign stars. He got out before the Parker/Pau/Dirk wave really hit. There were 23 teams when Magic joined the NBA. 8 when Russell won his first ring. The math is different now.
Not saying you’re wrong, but it’s really hard to even win one. That’s my point.
Tbf I don’t think the extent of impressiveness of Bron and Steph winning 4 rings should change based on the lack of similar individual success in the current era.
This era is significantly impacted by the second aprin restrictions, which is something Bron and Steph’s teams weren’t forced to deal with when they won their rings.
I’m not discounting their rings or saying that rings won during the second apron era are more impressive.
I think that the way people view Bron and Steph’s individual success in terms of rings shouldn’t change based on the likely lack of relative individual success in the future.
Even though this is reactionary doomerism, why would it feel like a massive waste even if that was true? The players with similar numbers had significantly more stacked teams in less competitive eras. Apples and oranges to compare the expected outcomes.
Real Nuggets fans never thought we would win a title or have a top 2 player in the league at any point let alone the best player in the world for 7 years running. There is nothing that can make it feel like a waste… watching this man play basketball has brought so much joy to my life. That said he better fucking be okay.
Actively, only Giannis, LeBron, curry, Durant, CP3 are the only all timers that compare to Jokic. Only the warriors got a better result with their franchise guy.
Just enjoy the shit out of it while it keeps going. Both the Mavs and the Spurs got titles with their 7 footers after they/we thought it was over.
All of those players except cp3 had better results lol
Time to team up with Giannis
He did put a little weight on it walking off, I am optimistic that it’s only a couple weeks. Such a cursed season, it’s Jamal Murray’s best year and all 4 of the other starters are about to be out.
Don’t mean to be a downer but being able to put weight on it doesn’t rule out any of the season ending stuff. Hopefully just a hyper extension though.
My friend walked on his torn ACL until his surgery. Not smart, but shows it’s possible. Definitely hope that’s not the case for Jokic
Yea same with meniscus stuff. I’ve torn it twice and one time I couldn’t walk at all/straighten it out and one time I could walk just fine. From how it looked I’d be a nervous is a meniscus injury but I’m definitely not a doctor.
I walked around with a meniscus tear with zero problems, no limp, no pain….it eventually locked up, then got surgery
That’s not abnormal. ACL controls more athletic movements like cutting and twisting. You can walk fine with an ACL tear.
Jordy Nelson ran to the locker room right after tearing his. Still traumatized.
Yeah. Micah Parsons just walked off his torn acl
Never liked basketball anyway
horse time! 🎉🥳
I hope he uses this as a reason to use a mini horse powered chariot to go anywhere not on the court. Then maybe try and use it on the court, if the Mini counts as a starter, I say its fair.
NBA turned into roman gladiators so gradually I didn’t even notice
I’m here for it
He was limping really bad walking back to the locker room
Don’t think it was just a tweak.
This is normal for a joint injury
Looks like his foot got stepped and he hyperextended it
I have sprained my wrist several times. You limp after that. It’s a good thing he walked alone
You limp after a sprained wrist?
He walks on his hands obviously
His foot wrist, of course
Joker isn’t the sort of guy to go down like that unless it feels really bad too, hoping for the best but not optimistic .
Jokic literally never gets hurt he looked shaken up hope its nothing serious
Definitely hyper extended it, didn’t look horrible, probably an MCL sprain (god willing)
I’m not a doctor and as an NBA fan I hope I’m wrong but when I tore my ACL my leg had this weird reaction and my foot was uncontrollably flopping for like 20-30 seconds. Everyone watching me thought I injured my ankle or something.
The first thing I noticed here was the exact same twitch foot thing here when they switch camera shots.
If this ends up being one of those weird things where a redditor calls it first…
Tbf Redditors call pretty much any knee injury a torn ACL lol
I think I remember Klay doing the same twitch when he tore his ACL during 2019 Finals :(
This is the season from hell
Lol
Arthur Rimbaud confirmed Nugs fan
FUCK MY LIFE

THIS IS MY LAST LOU DORT
AMEN THOMPSON, MO BAMBA

Noooo
Fuck no I hate this so much
Bad for the game.
That is the shittiest way a MVP race end
Damn
SGA vs Luka again
God damn did Nico rob us of one the great rivalries
I hate refreshing this sub reddit. Every time I do I swear it’s a new Nuggets injury. I hope he’s alright, but if he’s not, pack it up.
One of the last guys I ever worry about getting hurt too. Really hope it’s nothing
Heat fan and my heart sunk when it happened. Hope he’s okay
Same man. Nugs are my second favorite team going back to the Wade and Melo days. Jokic is my favorite player to watch currently. Just gutted.
Yep.
NO GOD NOOOOOOOOOOO
NOOOO
Hope he’s ok
Hopefully just a hyperextension but it doesn’t look great

This video discusses Nikola Jokic’s left knee hyperextension injury (0:58). The doctor, Brian Sutterer, analyzes the injury, noting that it appears to be a lower-grade hyperextension (1:16). He explains that the injury was not due to a direct impact to the knee but rather his teammate hitting his ankle, causing the knee to hyperextend (2:31).
Key positive prognostic factors mentioned include:
The doctor discusses potential injuries from hyperextension, including bone bruising (3:34), capsule tears (4:05), and ligament damage such as to the oblique popliteal ligament (4:22), ACL, or PCL (4:28). While a serious injury like an ACL tear is possible (5:21), the doctor is more optimistic due to the observed factors (5:25).
He concludes that, at a minimum, Jokic likely has bone bruising, which typically results in a 1-2 week absence (5:30). He hopes it will be a short absence rather than a long, surgical recovery (5:40).

The season is over fkkkkk
Just a sprain, just a sprain, please
No.
Nope.
Fuck off.
Should be okay just another hyperextension
Would be very unlucky for it to have torn any ligaments in the knee
Damn….he immediately grabbed his knee. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
r/nba’s 9⁄11
Joker is build like a tank , he will be fine. I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back this game.
Hoping its the AD special…looks kind of bad, he goes down, hobbles back, and then comes back. This man owns the Lakers but I love watching him ball.
God please just be minor. For the love of God the Nuggets and basketball fans don’t need this.
so painfull to watch…
Oof that’s an unfortunate way to get injured
Best case hyper extension 🤞🏽🤞🏽
That fucking ally oop dunk
Plz basketball gods, make sure its nothing serious 🙏
Same happened to cam a week back, hoping for a similar timeline
GREATEST SEASON IN HISTORY is now over
world collapsing
From my confident no PHD or Medical School knowledge, it doesn’t look too bad.
But seriously, hoping just a tweak of the knee or hyperextension since it looks like it was caused by his foot being stepped on.
At least it wasn’t one of those non contact injuries, those seem to always be super serious.
Bad injury luck for the nuggets this year. Really hope it’s a short recovery because Jokic has been having an unreal season
This season will be the ultimate test on how long that 65 games played rule will last in the league. I love the rule but i can see it being an issue if multiple superstars miss out on All-NBA selections.
I’m gonna barf blood. Whole nba needs to go on hiatus until he’s back I don’t care
I watched it now multiple times using a YT short and slowly stepped through each frame.
His teammate stepped on his foot when his left leg was straight. Then his tibia went strongly backward relative to his femur. This is the injury mechanism of a PCL injury (Posterior Cruciate Ligament).
Edit: I just saw the clip in much better quality and in slow motion and I am no longer sure about my initial observation. The knee also appeared to twist, so damage to the ACL is now also possible in the worst case scenario.
I’m done
BAN THE FUCKING PUSHOFF BULLSHIT MOVE. THAT IS TOTALLY PREVENTABLE IF THE LEAGUE DIDN’T LET IT HAPPEN. NOT A BASKETBALL PLAY IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.
That was a very normal basketball play lol, zero extension
These people are crazy, you can 100% get away with that little chicken wing in any level of basketball. High school, college, euro league. It’s honestly the main move you will see at high school game.
Dude, trust me, do not try to reason with Jokic stans
This injury had nothing to do with no damn push off 😭
I’m sending agents to Jaime Jacquez’s house
His teammate stepped on his foot when he was trying to extend his leg to move. It happens. It sucks but this is a contact injury not caused by whatever you are crying about.
The league encourages the offensive player to just put his shoulder into the defender. Its a dangerous play and they ENCOURAGE it with how they officiate the contact. Its crazy.
Stuff happens… bang bang play. All the guards do it, Jamal too. Freak accident.
Looked like a hyperextension from Jones stepping on his foot.
Man Nuggets can’t catch a break the one year they actually have depth to make a legitimate run.
if he’s injured people are about to see just how bad the Nuggets really are
Yeah, the nuggets with four starters out are terrible…
this looks potentially serious. it looks a little bit like the Giannis injury
edit: there’s a different angle that shows a little bit of hyperextension on the knee
Hope he’s ok. Didn’t look catastrophic to me tho
Spencer Jones stepped on Jokic’s foot but he’s holding his knee. That’s pretty scary.
Sucks for the basketball world
Hope it’s not too serious.
Someone tell the nuggets medical team that they can take my legs if he needs them
This is the worst day of my life
Sucks. I’ve always been shocked with how durable he seems to be. Never has had a serious injury and plays long hard minutes and very long seasons.
Hope he’s good. You really hate to see it
I hope it is mcl or something that a little rest can get him back into the game. The NBA as a whole need him healthy.
My day is ruined
Sorry to see Jokic go down. He is a tank and an absolute cheat code. Hope it’s minor.
He’ll be okay in my completely unprofessional opinion
