Luka Doncic with a simple answer to a dumb long question by a reporter: “Yes”
Please do not ask Luka whether he sees Lebron as a father figure
lmao
Luka: “Yes” đż
âEnough questions for you⌠whoâs next?â
Iâll never forget the way the light left Kyrieâs eyes in that moment lmao. He still gave a professional answer but you could see he was done with that shit, right then and there
Kyrie gave a serious response âŚ.luka would give a snarky gamer response
Luka: “My name is not Bronny”
“Noob”
âWith AR out of the picture, is it finally an opportunity for you and Bron to foster that father-son relationship?â
Nono, please do.
Yes
It probably won’t be as bad since Luka and Bron’s age gap is quite wide, but Kyrie being asked that while only being 7 years younger than LeBron was awkward as fuck
yes…yes I see him as my father what do you want me to say more?
Ask Bronny whether he sees Luka as a father figure
I mean he idolizes LeBron so he wonât be offended as Kyrie anyway
The Kryie question was racist af. It was an extremely offensive question
What’s worse is that Kyrie’s father was a constant presence in his life
never realized it was a racist question. I thought it was just extremely stupid
He’s white, so they won’t. They asked Kyrie this because he was a younger black man. He’s still black but not as young. The obvious racist implication being that black fathers aren’t present in their kids life.
Luka is a father of 2 kids himself if iirc
Normalize this
As a former reporter who did admittedly do this sometimes, itâs one of the worst traps that young folks in the industry fall into.Â
We think that weâll somehow earn the respect of the interviewee by saying things that prove that we know what weâre talking about, but really⌠one of two things:
The interviewee just wants you to let them talk.
And/or
Youâre destroying your own potential quote because youâve said everything instead of letting them say it.
You just did it again :(
That’s funny đÂ
But tbf, I don’t think they’re interviewing y’all. As important as your opinions undoubtedly are đ
As you pointed out today, /r/nba is a very large subreddit on one of the most popular social media platforms… I believe it’s currently top 3 actually, just behind tiktok and instagram… and the 75-upvote performance you put up today in just under three hours… so, uh, 25 upvote/hr I believe… certainly shows that people agree with your opinions. So, do you feel that your opinions are important, and do you think your opinions matter?
I like turtles
I did this as a young reporter. Donât. Players who want to talk, will.
Yup. Yup. I do think people underestimate the human side of this for reporters. Everyone wants to dunk on us and sometimes the criticisms are warranted like here but the fact is they’d also do some of this over the course of multiple 82 game seasons if they did this job lol
Dan Patrick always says 2 things:
This reported did both of these and it went predictably poorly
One of the first things design and ethnographic researchers learn is to never pose a yes/no question, because you want your interviewee to say as much as possible. Surprised thatâs not the first lesson in the reporting world
If you are trying to learn a fact, ask a yes or no question. If you want to understand a person’s perspective on a fact, ask an open-ended one.
And this is why they always ask “how important is it” or “what does it mean to”
It is important and it means a lot.
Redditor tries asking a question:
^ this guy tries asking a question:
You’re pointing to yourself
Youâre pointing to yourself
Stop hitting yourself
âSo Luka, how is LeBron like a father figure to youâŚâ
This question is fine. It is too long though.
Reporters need to stop being scared of every viral presser moment causing them to couch their question in a billion qualifiers
Ask your question. Get your quote. Be done with it.
The question should beâŚâConsidering you and LeBron havenât spent much time together due to injuries, how are you looking to grow as a duo over this crucial stretch now that heâs back?â
Just donât ask yes or no questions. âIs this stretch important?â Is a dead end question.
Im not even sure he knows what actual question he asked by the time he got the end of his rambling.
Yup. Media does such a poor job.
Eh cut him some slack. Its December 29 Lakers vs Kings. My guys just trying to get to file whatever his column/tv package is and get to the house lol
the only time pressed questions get any sort of attention is when they are bad. For the most part, they are perfectly fine.
Imagine having a degree and getting paid for interviews. Can’t frame a simple questionÂ
It actually is a good question in theory but bad in execution. I disagree that it was a “dumb” question because actually Luka hasn’t had much opportunity to play with lebron
they should really be asking strong, open-ended questions that prompt longer ANSWERS so that they can get good quotes. He basically answered his own question and teed up the very obvious “yes”. Like what did he think luka would say? lmfao.
Its honestly probably just tunnel vision. They get so caught up in what they need. Theyre not really thinking about optimization. They’re not thinking about the best quote just getting the quote they need without ruffling feathers and it goes awry sometimes.
Also just lazy habits form over the course of the months/years.
Dont disagree with you though.

it’s because they already have their story written out, they just need quotes to support it, so they ask leading or deadend questions so they can force the quote they need
You said this in way fewer words than I did. Lol
It took me so long to type it that they deleted the comment before I could post lol
Calm down there Shakespeare
Ok magellen
Walt Whitman ova heah
Gentlemen, a short view back to the past…
Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us ‘take a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.’
âYou could tell me how smart I am for noticingâ
âHmm đâ đ
“Good notice. Your result, Me and Lebron are going to play. Good notice.”
i think it was âGood notice. AR is out. Me and Lebron are going to play. Good notice.â
too many fucking words, i’d be annoyed as shit being asked a question like that
I wouldn’t be annoyed by it at all. I’d say something like, “Yeah, it’ll be great to keep building that chemistry with LeBron and hopefully when AR comes back we are firing on all cylinders.” Some of you act like this is terrible to do, and it’s literally part of their job.
he asked the question but then had to go back and clarify it when it didn’t need to be clarified. be confident and ask the fucking question one time.
Media need to stop expecting players to dance for them. Ask clear and direct questions.
It was an extremely simple question. And again, they get paid millions of dollars to do this. They can do it.
I agree thereâs so many worse questions to answer and this basically sucked up the time so 2 fewer questions could be asked
Journalist has written the story with all those words already. He just will add âLuka says thatâŚâ at the start
He don’t get paid by the hour
âCan you talk about the importance of building chemistry with LeBron in the absence of Austin Reaves?â Thatâs all dude had to ask.
Exactly. Donât ask a simple yes or no question if you donât want a yes or no response, esp after a rambling question like that.
If you absolutely want to âproveâ your knowledge, keep it to one concise sentence and then ask a short open ended question.
But your question is perf, short, concise, open ended.
There’s a reality where we get thoughtful, analytical questions from these super genius athletes who play the game
Not this one though
He was asked a yes or no question lol. This is so easy to phrase so the answer is a statement, the reporter did a bad job at that
Yeah heâs literally known for giving minimal answers
Need to have thoughtful, analytical questions first. Obvious, dead end questions get obvious, dead end answers. He should ask a better question next time.
This is entirely on the âjournalistâ not the athletes
Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us âtake a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.â Thirty years later, Sebastian told us âI had to start my car like a computer, itâs very complicated.â And Nico Rosberg said that during the race â I donât remember what race - he pressed the wrong button on the wheel. Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too complicated with twenty and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more communication with your engineers?
I was looking for this.
Does Luka still take questions from Spanish speaking reporters?
Yeah pretty sure the question before this one was in Spanish itâs pretty funny to see how much more he answers Spanish questions
I mean itâs a bad question. Donât give him a yes or no question if what you want it more information. Iâm no journalist but this seems like journalism 101
Especially after a rambling 30 seconds beforehand.Â
Throwback.
This is literally interviewing 101, don’t ask a question that can be answered with a Yes or No.
Learned this during the playoffs last year: LA media is the absolute worst. I hate the Lakers, but I honestly pity you all for having to put up with it. Players, fans, everyone, I’m so sorry that you have the worst media coverage in the NBA.
Dumbass question đ
Never ask a question that is answered with a yes or no.
NBA media often seems like a David Lynch film, surrealism.
Yes or no questions kill conversations. Ask open ended questions when possible. It’s the first rule of interviewing.
some of the reporters ask the cringiest questions but they all love go hear themselves talk
Reminds me of this KD interview
This remind me of KAT question to KD in an interview
Ive been noticing so many of these type of questions lately where the reporter just rambles and essentially answers their own question.
It pisses me off. Like dude its literally your fucking job to ask questions. How are you this bad at it?
The ryen russillo specialÂ
It is a very long winded way to ask a âyes or noâ question.
lebron james is luka doncic father
This is not great but nothing will ever top Adrian Daterâs long, embarrassing, rambling question he asked Nathan Mackinnon.
