Yeah like for Jokic, you can argue he’s the greatest offensive player since MJ. It’s between him, Steph, and Bron (I’d give the edge of the Steph personally), but they’re all on the same level of uber efficient scoring and god tier playmaking.

The difference is that Bron was ALSO a DPOY level defender, while the other two are average to above average at best. There’s no conversation.

Jokic’s playoff scoring efficiency relative to his opponents is not on the level of Steph or LeBron btw. His raw TS% is high but that’s because league averages have risen with spacing and better coaching, and he’s had a lot of soft defenses to chew up.

But actually his career playoff opponent adjusted relative TS% is not quite Steph/Bron level.

Jokic is 26.9 pts per75 on +4.9 rTS%

Steph is 26.0 pts per75 on +6.2 rTS%

LeBron is 27.2 pts per75 on +5.4 rTS% but those numbers are weighed down by him making the playoffs in his early 20s and late 30s/early 40s. Comparing apples to apples over the same age range as Jokic’s current playoff career LeBron is close to +8 rTS% IIRC.

Steph is also weighed down a bit by his last few runs, at Jokic’s age he was around +7 rTS%

If we’re looking at strictly playoff numbers, LeBron is clearly above Jokic right now, I agree. Some of the numbers Bron put up in his late Miami, Cleveland, and early LA years are ridiculous in every way.

I think you can only argue Steph over him for his insane offball gravity, which has huge impact on his teammates efficiency (I thought Thinking Basketball did a great job of highlighting in their greatest peaks of the 21st century series). Also I’m a bit biased as a Dubs fan lol.

I think Jokic has a few more peak years in him to get his numbers up though. It remains to be seen if he’s able to put up a couple more all time great playoff runs. Regular season wise though, he’s right up there with 16 Steph and ¹³⁄₁₄ Bron.

If by “notable step down” you mean that LeBron has a 0.3 higher PER, and a 2% lower true shooting percentage, while averaging less assists, then sure.

But I’ll also be taking into consideration that Jokic is the all-time PER leader in regular season, with the highest offensive 5 year peak by an absolute mile.
