Trae Young only got 1.5 years left on his contract. He’s not worth 3 picks. He’s worth Zach Lavine and nothing more.

1. At least giving consistent effort on D. He’ll never be good, he’s so damn small but there is no excuse to just stand there and wave his arms while dudes go by him like he’s a traffic cone.

2. For ONCE in his career, I’d like to see him shoot over 35% two years in a row from deep.

Trae has NEVER had back to back seasons shooting over 35% in his career.

He has alternated shooting under, then over, then under, then over 35% EACH year of his career.

It’s not looking good this season. He was “supposed” to shoot over 35% from deep this year, but he’s struggling big time and this could be the first two year stretch in a row he doesn’t get over 35% in a season.

He is supposed to be a good shooter from deep. Yet he has NEVER shot over 35% two seasons in a row from 3 point range.

1. Only 2 out of his 7 seasons (not counting this year yet) has his offensive rating been equal to or higher than his defensive ratings. 5 seasons he’s been negative between them, giving up more points than he makes. For his career, he’s negative 3 between his offensive and defensive ratings.

I’d like to see him at least be equal in them or have his offensive rating be at least 1 above his defensive rating.

1. I’d like to see his overall FG% at least be 45% or higher. In ONLY one season has Trae shot over 45% from the field in his career and his WROST season was last year.
   

And he’s shooting terribly so far this year. If he ends this year where he’s at, that will make last year and this year his two WORST FG percentage seasons in his career.

At 26 and 27 years old, in his 6th and 7th years in the league he should NOT be having his worst FG% ever, but he is.

He’s also one of the worst high volume 3 point shooters in the league. That level of chucking kills your defense as well being a bad defender.

He has been at times this year, but he can also be really good so 🤷‍♂️

For guys like Trae, a slump or a high won’t affect his trade value very much. He’s a pretty well known commodity. 

However, his contract (years left) and any potential injury will affect teams bidding on him.

I’d say if the Hawks are set on moving on, start looking for trades ASAP. The longer they wait, the less leverage they have.
