Amazing game offensively and it’s good to see him with confidence to shoot the 3 again but it’s a bit overshadowed by Okongwu almost single handedly getting Atlanta back into the game because KAT wouldn’t stay within 5 feet of him on the perimeter.

His basketball IQ on defense goes out the window when there’s a big that can shoot. Usually it’s on high screens but in this game it was him just drifting to help when it wasn’t making a difference.

Yeah, Hawks announcers were like “and Kre grabs KAT to make him earn it on the line.” I was like yep, KAT is not the type of center that struggles to earn it at the FT line. But they just had no answer for KAT’s size and physicality, so I guess they had no chance.
Having a big who’s both physical and a great FT shooter is honestly such a massive advantage in keeping opposing defenses honest
KAT also missed a trailing the play 3 in the first quarter, and Hawks announcer said “oh I’ll live with that shot”

The gameplan was obviously “make him earn it from the line if you can’t stop him”. They couldn’t stop him so they kept wrapping him up so he couldn’t go up with the ball. Felt like 10 of those free throws were this way.
But at the same time, you’re correct. Towns is the best FT shooter on the team. He is someone that has the ability to shoot 90% in a season and is shooting a “measly” 86%.
The strategy, imo, wasn’t that good.

As a Wolves fan, you should know this as well as anyone: KAT either fouls or gets fouled on every drive. Tonight they just decided to call it in his favor.

The other 8 were fouls that usually they only give Towns like 2 or 4 out of those calls.
KAT does do some stupid offensive fouls driving sometimes though.. like pushing with his off hand, but I hope he learns from it because he does gets the defender on their heels and doesn’t need to hook or push off with that off hand.

I had no words for either of these…mainly the 2nd one…as you said, he basically flung his body into the defenders (did not help that we were over the limit with over 8 minutes left in the 4th)
