Steve Kerr: “We are no longer the 2017 Warriors dominating the NBA. We are a fading dynasty”
Me when I switch from rookie to semi-pro on 2k and start losing.
The jump from all-star to super star in that game is hilarious
It goes from tough but fair to tough but fuck you.
A video game dunkey quote in my nba sub?
Everyone’s favorite spaghetti and meatball-eating Puerto Rican grandma
Wait, he’s not black?
He’s Knack.
Oh hell yeah that makes me want to watch rat chef again
Is that the Puerto Rican dude who makes drama Monday videos ?
Thank you Dark Souls
They basically want your hands looking like wide receiver hands from the abuse of trying to win that level
Accurate lol
As someone who’s been playing on Hall of Fame for years, superstar seems a lot harder for some reason.
I played on HOF for years, but I switched to superstar a few games back and it feels more true competitive, and not animation perfection HOF. If you lock in, you’ll probably win. If you’re focused on something else, you might realize you’re down by 15 in the 4th, and can make a game of coming back.
Yeah I feel that way about all star. I only play my league and only play game 6 or 7s in the playoffs. I don’t use meter and I always have random players from different eras on my team so I don’t remember all their releases. I don’t have to green everything to make it which is nice so I can actually do more than cheese the cpu. I lose a decent amount if my squad is not that great so I don’t just bill russell the Celtics through franchise mode.
As soon as I get a 10-12 point lead I get fancy w/it and there I am lighting for my life again a few plays laterlol
Start taking bullshit shots talm bout “Nah I can make that been greening all day” and tank my percentage by like 40 lol.
Yeah it’s weird feels like on superstar the CPU hits way tougher shots.
I feel like something happened to each difficulty. HOF wasn’t as challenging pre 2k19 but out of nowhere It started becoming crazy in the 2020s for me. Shoutout to YouTubers who make videos on sliders. Lol made the my gm gameplay so smooth.
I think the answer is 2k made the shooting way more difficult. I forget one of the early 2020’s 2k’s, no one could shoot. Online, offline. Couldn’t score at all just driving and getting blocked.
I think they optimize the difficulty around e-sports now, where everyone is a 99 overall. It’s really irritating. But if you play superstar with a Legends team, if feels like it used to.
aight word makes sense. But they didn’t have to tweak it for pvp 5 on 5. But that definitely makes sense. So hall of fame is just the only one that’s insanely still difficult?
I think up until 2k23 I was in the superstar difficulty. But ever since they got the new shooting dynamics, I’m happy at all star lol
Seriously, I’ve been playing offline 2k every day for years and I just can’t seem to get past all-star difficulty 😂
playing 2k on hall of fame makes all your teammates get punched by draymond and start putting up post punch poole numbers
Lololol. Real stuff !
He’s sending a message to the organization to start trading players.
They need to start trading picks if they’re really all in on trying to get one more with Steph
Imo the West is so deep it’s not worth it really,, they could trade every asset and still not be a top 3 team in the conference
Depth doesn’t matter. Curry is generational and is still playing dominant ball. You mortgage the next 10 years if it means you can sniff the conference finals with him one more time. Once the pressure gets on, all you need is Curry to get hot like he did in 2022 and you got a shot of beating anyone
Edit. I’m talking about depth in the conference not the team. Warriors should go all in while curry is still here. Even with OKC and spurs and nuggets, curry always gives you a shot.
Unfortunately there’s about 4 or 5 other generational guys in the west right now and we’re not going to be a better team than the Nuggets, Spurs, or Thunder (probably others too, this is off the top of my head) even if we trade every asset we have. The window seems firmly closed at this point.
Steph needs to leave if he wants a last shot at winning tbh
The would have to trade him. The team doesn’t want to do that and steph wants to retire a warrior. They should trade players for picks and give steph the kobe retirement package.
Also, nothing wrong with being that 4th team. It’s perfectly respectable to be as good as they were last year and just be that team that’s a tough out. I don’t think they need to be a legit contender to have good vibes and be happy with how Curry is going out.
Nothing wrong with that either. I think adding Jimmy was a solid roll of the dice and an attempt to remain competitive to give Steph the send off he deserves. But it is a young man’s game and the truly great teams particularly in the West take years of building in the same way the Warriors dynasty did.
Yeah… nuke your organization for the next 10 years for a really horrible chance to make conference finals. Solid risk/reward…
You get a player like Curry once in a lifetime if you’re lucky. Most fans will die never having seen someone like that on their team. He is the window and when he’s gone there is no guarantee there will ever be another one. When you have someone like that in the twilight of their career the correct move is to go all in on winning.
The Warriors problem right now is that they hamstrung themselves with the two timelines vision and too many draft misses so barring some crazy luck they don’t have the assets to put a winning team around Curry anymore.
You are clearly not a Bulls or Wizards fan lol
The Warriors were mediocre to dogshit for longer than that before Curry.
That is a terrible approach. The same approach th clippers took with Kawhi and trading SGA, along with th nets when they traded for KG and Pierce.
Yeah, they need to ask Steph where he would like to go to try and match Jordans 6
The family still lives in Charlotte. That’s the only team that Curry would likely be ok being traded to.
Even at his age they would still get a big haul for him.
The only trade that gives us a remote shot is Giannis
Depth doesn’t matter, but the pacers went to the playoffs finals by beating the giannis bucks, the cavs, and the knicks.
[deleted]
Idk man if you have a good second option for curry that can handle the ball well AND shoot well consistently, warriors would surprise a lot of people.
Jimmy is not that guy unfort. Not for that money
Dubs could get giannis for jimmy and picks id think, maybe an extra like moody, will richard.
They just said they would considering doing that a few days ago.
I wonder if Kerr would even want to be there through a long rebuild post Curry. GS has the 2nd oldest roster in the NBA and traded away all of it’s 2nd round picks through 2029 plus their 2030 1st. They’d need to draft incredibly to be somewhat competitive.
Agree, warriors have really fallen of a cliff despite Steph still being a super elite guard.
He’s quite literally saying the opposite if you listen to the whole thing.
I mean he’s obviously right they’re not the prime Warriors but it’s kind of wild that he said this out loud lol
Well we’re like 30 games in and basically a .500 team. Whatever “one last run for another ring” fantasy we had when they got Butler are basically dead. This team might make the playoffs, but they’re not winning another ring.
I mean that’s like the opposite of what Kerr says in the clip. He says he’s confident in the team and where they’re heading and they’re taking steps in the right direction. He’s not saying it’s over at all like the headline refers to he’s saying it’s one last ride probably because he’s seen a dynasty fade out before and knows it ends quick.
That’s exactly what was said about the ‘22 team.
I’ll agree it’s unlikely, just like the ‘22 team.
The ‘22 team was 27-6 after Christmas. This team is 16-15.
they got really lucky that year. injuries and good matchups.
But we were actually really good tho. 27-6 as another commenter said. We lost a lot of steam toward the end but got hot again at the right time
Unless there are really a lot of injuries lining up in their favor while being completely free of them themselves… But I don think anyone would want that, not even someone benefiting from it…
Ultimately no one had the 21-22 warriors winning either except themselves
SGA just said Wemby his daddy
remember when Pedro Martinez called the Yankees his daddy? Man that rivalry was so fun in the early 2000s
And Jimmy said the Dray Kerr beef turned him on a bit, the NBA is just so unserious lmao
Lmfao
I respect that a lot tbh. It’s just fucking true and everyone knows, we don’t need to play this media game where you can’t say the truth.
Yeah, this would be like Red Auerbach saying the Celtics were cooked in 1991. He’s not wrong but he shouldn’t say it!
I mean that would be kinda weird considering he hadn’t coached the Celtics for 30 years at that point
He’s been saying this for a few years just in different ways. He usually says something along the lines of ‘our margin of error is much smaller now’ which was essentially saying they aren’t as good as they used to be. He openly talks about how they know they’re near the end all the time
Within the context of the point he was making it wasn’t bad at all
Father Time is undefeated.
Bob Myers saw the future bleak roster options then dipped
Lightyears ahead my ass Bob
To be fair, that was Lacob running his mouth, not Bob.
Man botched some draft picks there towards the end, but his last big move was taking Ryan Rollins in the 2nd round. Not the worst parting gift for your aging core. In hindsight, GS and DC both fumbled the shoplifter.
Myers knew Owner wouldn’t trade Draymond for picks so he left the FO before the team fully craters. In another timeline, Draymond is traded after the Poole punch, Klay doesn’t get hurt trying to make up for lack of scoring, enough money is freed up to retain their bench and GSW wins 5 if not 6 championships, the Splash Bros retire together, and the next superstar is drafted to keep the dynasty going.
Supposedly Bob didn’t want to draft Wiseman either. It was the owner whom fell in love with Wiseman. Same with JK now. The owner sees him as his second son.
Yeah. Can’t be a good GM if your owner steamrolls your decisions.
I have to give credit to Lacob for being willing to seriously open up the purse strings during the Warriors prime window, there was no winning in that CBA without an owner willing to go seriously into the luxury tax. Unfortunately over a longer time period no amount of good FO execs can overcome ownership meddling.
You’re right man, and he was paying record breaking luxury taxes year in and year out. Lacob was able to gather the funds to build a new arena. Chase area might not be as loud as Oracle. The new arena is a gem.
The meddling part is what Bob admitted that wore him out. He did an interview few years ago on our local sports radio show. The non stop calling even late into the night. Bob felt like he never could make a decision on his own.
So we would have a roster of Curry, Klay, Poole, Moody, Looney and whatever we trade Draymond for and expect to have a top 25 defense?
Draymond is a lot to deal with, but he’s also invaluable to our defense, especially in the playoffs
Curry Klay and Poole couldn’t consistently play together in the playoffs against higher level competition
Anyone else think that Steve Kerr, with all due respect, looks like a mannequin dummy at the best of time?
Like I saw this man in a Twilight Zone episode
His head is too blocky
Man looks like a Lego
If you made a Steve Kerr lego with the standard pieces he’d be instantly recognizable
with all due respect
Minecraft Steve lookin’ ass
except Tony Ferguson. he’s only entering his 7th prime!
CSO 😎😎⚔️⚔️🍃🍃
does he even wanna be there anymore lmao
He’s gonna ride out the last Steph years then leave and return to media.
Nah he gonna sign 5 years $25 million a year to coach Kon
And then try to get fired 2 years in on a guaranteed contract
the monty williams
Monty took 10 years off Cade’s life but Detroit threw too much money at him. He refused often and publicly and the number just kept coming back bigger.
I’m sorry, Cade, even if it turned you into a mentally untouchable warrior monk. I’ll see you in Valhalla.
Nah Kon got 2-3 ships in him. If he doing this in year 1…. Year 5 back to back titles.
Lemme be the first to day it. The Kon vs Cooper NBA finals is gonna revitalize the NBA.
Book it. James Allen Blount real life name. On Facebook as Lucy Furr. For…. unrelated reasons.
Honestly this is my dream career arc
Kerr would be soooo refreshing after Charles Lee/Jeff Petersons word salads of corporate bullshit
Coach who?
Keep him out of the front offices. I’ll never forgive him for trading away Matrix
Didn’t you guys get to a wcf in part because of the moves he made?
Which is sad because he’s still a top 10 player and they’re going to waste his last prime years.
It’s not sad that’s just how it usually goes. The storybook ending where a superstar can walk away after his final year with a championship is very rare. Kobe, Dirk, KG, Hakeem, all of these types of guys kinda just have their careers gradually fade out.
KG going back to the Wolves just didn’t feel right even if it received a huge response from fans. Part 2s almost never work out and it’s better to leave the legacy intact than to come back and mess with it. Better to remember the legacy that’s cherished than have people the sour ending.
Honestly I wouldn’t blame him. Considering his health history and the stress of propping up a fading dynasty in the face of big market media.
The biggest negative will be seeing all the dumb “Kerr’s a bad coach because he couldn’t win without Steph” takes as if every successful coach in NBA history didn’t also have an all-time great player.
I thought that the Spurs should have considered hiring him but their young coach has been great so thats off the table. He’s cooked
He doesn’t want to be around anymore.
“You thought this lineup was good!”
“I thought it was interesting!”
Yes but he’s having a mental breakdown
As J Rose would say: “keep gettin dem checks!”
If he said fading rather than faded he is still optimistic.
Do people not even watch the whole clip? Kerr is saying while they’re not the prime dubs anymore, he still believes they can go on a run.
They had a chance last year, but unfortunately Steph got hurt. He thinks the team can repeat what they did the end of last year and go on a run, and the early season struggles are part of the process.
People did not watch the clip. I like what Kerr said. Basically we will always have a shot with Steph, but we are not going to be blowing out everyone like in the prime years.
I don’t think that is a controversial take and the players are not morons, they can see the standings like everyone else - they know they are not the 2017 Warriors. But they can still fight like hell, so that’s what they are going to do.
Do people not even watch the whole clip?
It’s not even that, people on this sub already knew what they were going to type out as soon as they saw it was a clip of Kerr/Warriors-related…you think they’re watching entire clips? Lol.
Look at some of the responses, mfers acting like Kerr was talking to them directly and that they know better than him what to say in this situation or ‘what kind of effect his words are gonna have in the locker room.’
People acting like what Kerr has to say is irrelevant while unironically believing their opinion is somehow meaningful in the same breath, lmao. Coaches get interviewed and asked questions postgame and they answer how they like, more news at 11.
They absolutely did not lol
I don’t think anyone was accusing you of being the 2017 Warriors Steve
They’re not even the 2022 warriors which was their actual “one last run” lol shit is beyond faded
Dudes looking forward to retirement after Steph is gone. Lol
He could have retired 25 years ago just enjoys what he’s doing
Refreshing to hear transparency in the world of american sports where everyone tries to blatantly paint an obviously fake but pretty picture of themselves.
Why would you admit that in a press conference lol
He’s not saying anything we don’t already know tbf
Because he wants to retire with Steph like Draymond
Probably because Draymond said they’re blowup doesnt matter because they just keep winning. This is Kerr laying out the reality for him.
I don’t mind him openly saying this. I think this is kind of an open admittance that the team is cooked this year and needs to go in the rebuild next year.
I feel for Steph ngl. But it’s also something that the FO can’t do anything about. If you’re good enough to consistently make the playoffs, u don’t get good players from the draft.
This is what being stuck in the endless pit of mediocrity feels like.
That seems bad for the locker room though, how are the players going to feel motivated if the coach says they’re cooked in the press conference.
I don’t think the team is young enough to care about how the coach feels about them. It’s the Clippers situation. The coach is merely riding it out with the squad himself. I don’t blame him.
How do you or anyone even motivates a bunch of self starters who at this age should know their job to stay motivated.
Idk. Maybe watch the rest of the fucking video.
did you watch the clip?
he is just saying we aren’t the dynasty that was in 2017 but he still believes this group can go on a run
Why would Dan Campbell say “this might’ve been our only chance” after Detroit lions lost in the playoffs last year.
That’s like saying “Welp, no more reason to try we cannot possibly win from now on”
Even IF he was right
That was not last year, that was the year before after losing in the NFC championship game
Because he wants to air out what the FO has decided for everyone, so theres no unreasonable expectation to contend (not that there really is)
Why would you not. You think you get better by ignoring problems?
Light years ahead
Won 3 titles since that comment to be fair
I knew that quote was coming back to haunt us and the owner. Why couldn’t he just ride the high and said nothing.
Way to cut the rest of the statement where he says that he believes they got “one more run in them”.
This is a nothing statement turned into click-bait by editing.
Faded. Not fading.
I like how he said fading like hasnt been over already.
Has realized two years too late
No longer fading…. Faded
In other news…
It took Steve Kerr less than thirty games to kill Al Horford.
yeah, no shit my guy
Are the warriors still better without klay?
Fading?
You love to see it!
They were a fading dynasty years ago, they’ve already faded.
As soon as they started playing the middle ground between the vets and the young guys it got ugly. They’ve completely fucked up the whole Kuminga thing, should’ve been traded a while ago for something that could’ve actually helped them
Oh my god, he admit it
Fading dynasty was 2022. At this point they are post-dynasty, they just happen to still have a couple of the players from the dynasty years still on their roster.
Did bro wake up from a 8 year coma?
😂😂😂 so dramatic
Strong America vibes
Dumbass Warriors fans buying tickets to watch Steph play heroball with 4 G-League tier players since 2020.
sure?
still cool that we won in 2022…now the bulls on the other hand…
It’s time for a rebuild
Real inspiring leadership right there
At least he’s aware
Yeah bro we know
It’s probably a first time experience for Kerr. He left the Bulls immediately after Jordan retired and played a few seasons with Duncan and Robinson in San Antonio.
All because they drafted like shit
I could see them losing the play in easily
Really? Dang. How do we break the news to everyone else. I’m shocked by this tbh
They had their run. We’ll see them when they’re relevant again in 15 years!
Fading is an understatement and you know what that’s okay. 4 titles, arguably the greatest team ever, 2 top 15 players of all time, best team defender ever, two best shooters ever, and won a title after losing one of the best players on the planet. The warriors had the chance to extend the dynasty but blew the wiseman pick then drafter a player that did not fit their system in kuminga. Whatever the ride was amazing and they have all there picks so can rebuild.
Most self-aware
Coach and players do coachspeak, fans: ”Ugh, athletes are so boring and lack authenticity with their pre-baked PR answers”.
A coach is transparent and honest, fans: “Roflmao!!? Why would he say that out loud-uh!?”
Pretty sure the Ozymandias statue was built by Kerr in a past life
Butler (probably): “This isn’t turning me on.”
It was a helluva run.
A guy who has been on a few of those
Regular season warriors are not the playoff warriors. Yes they might not make it of that keep playing like as s but fact is they command more great than the last six ex champions not named Denver or okc
They had a chance but Covid really messed up everyone’s draft evaluations. They had their chance with the second overall and they got a bust. They went for an old and new core and the new core just wasn’t good. Another universe they picked Haliburton, Maxey, Ball
Was 2022 really the last dance and people already knew it? Curry ain’t getting another ring at this stage of his career?
Wasting Steph trade him to Boston
Draymond, Podz, and Steve Kerr needs to go
Love all the snowflake nephews who can’t handle a leader being vocal about the reality he sees. “Vibes” don’t do anything for you: Honest evaluation and pragmatism does.
Fading? Opacity is set to 0, nicker.
They were fading post KD, and then out of nowhere they pulled another championship out of their ass.
The two timelines approach Lacob has utilized since the post-KD era hasn’t worked out. Yes, they won the 2022 title, but none of the draft picks - Wiseman in particular - have panned out to adequately complement Steph as a reliable 2nd or even 3rd option by this point in the timeline. Poole was there for a minute until he got punched by Draymond, and I was hopeful with Podz early on but he seems like a role player.
That’s what happens when you go from the #1 highest spender in the league to letting Poole go and then letting cp3 expire and falling out of the luxury tax. No more competitive advantage. No one wants to admit this. Warriors were the #1 highest spending team of the last decade and it’s not even close.
Free Curry
And I’m here for it.
Dog whistle of hell
Trade curry and the rest of them before it’s too late
The Miami heat would never
Steve “Hari Seldon” Kerr
No shit sherlock
Send Steph to Charlotte for Lamelo and picks and let him go out in his city.
Steph is still elite, imo. I would can Draymond and even Butler.
The end of an era
He’s about to ask for a trade
Same here bro
Kerr and Reddick on suicide watch
The dynasty isn’t fading, it’s gone. The Warriors are battling to sneak into the playoffs.
A problem for the NBA for me is that there is only a small handful of teams who are realistically contending for a championship. If your team isn’t one of those elite contenders, the NBA season is kind of a slog.
Tell me something we didnt already know Steve
Well, he did play on the 98 Bulls
That took a while.
