Jamal Murray is anywhere from 12th to 16th in various advanced stats league-wide for the season.

That should put him in good position to make the all-star game.

Normally that kind of performance would be a guarantee, but he’s just not all that popular, and he’s the 2nd option on his team. Both of which make it harder to get an all-star selection.

He has to do enough to justify one team getting 2 selections.

Playing next to Jokic helps, but that shouldn’t be used against him. Plenty of stars play with elite teammates and still get All Star nods. Murray has been closing games and carrying stretches on his own.

Jokic will always ball out. But seeing as this isn’t tennis or the pole vault, someone else needs to bridge the difference between the ~60 points Jokic generates (directly or indirectly) and the 120 points the team needs.

Murray can absolutely do that, at his best he is unstoppable.

So Denver’s seasons boil down to whether Murray is physically and mentally at his best, basically.

I think it’s predominantly Jokic. Most any above average guard would be All-Star level next too him.

Over the last 3 seasons the Nuggets are +12.67 NET with Jokic and Jamal in 5345 minutes. +10.07 NET with just Jokic in 3335 minutes. They are -9.55 NET in 2555 minutes while they both sit and -6.68 NET in 2088 minutes while Jamal is on and just Jokic sits.

I wouldn’t consider over the last 3 seasons as Jamal really locked in this year and we actually have an NBA team with jokic off the floor and not Aaron Gordon forced to play center. Plus if u just watch the games Jamal is often the one who starts a run with his shooting

For example? What average guard do you think rises to an all-star next to Jokic? I think Murray does benefit from playing next to Jokic, is above average regardless and still hasn’t been an all-star. I also think Murray’s play style compliments Jokic’s, and not all guards would.

And it looks like MPJ is going to be an all-star now that he’s not playing with Jokic. So it’s not always that beneficial statistically for his teammates.
