[Highlight] Spurs rookie Dylan Harper puts SGA in a blender
Spurs got some young dawgs there. Castle-Harper would be hell of a backcourt in some time
Biased but I think it’s a hell of a backcourt right now. Sky is the limit
Agreed. It’s doesn’t look like it to most watching since their ppg aren’t high together (compared to other great back courts we’ve seen in history) but team switch defense, facilitation, rim pressure all together makes them quite possibly the best impact backcourt in the NBA already.
Watching Spurs games, it feels like almost every time it gets to one of them they’ll make the shot. The Spurs have a sort of inevitability to their offense cause of how many good shooters they have, it’s awesome to see.
I’d day you guys have a very similar deep team like okc. One of the biggest things I saw that game was it seemed like a more fair whistle was going on. Or spurs are just figuring out how to not play into the flopping.
He is outshined by guys like Flagg, Kon because he doesn’t have as big of a role as those 2 and most other rookies, but I think this guy will end up being the 2nd best rookie in this class. I know its crazy to say it after seeing what Flagg just did, but depending on how good Flagg becomes, Harper might give him some competition as well. The stats and stuff don’t reflect the talent but there is some SGA type of game in Harper, way too smooth for a rookie.
It’s hard to compare guys filling a role in games that matter vs getting stats on bad teams.
Yeah and tbf on the other hand, your life is probably easier when you got some really good players next to you on both ends, offensively, opening up space and allowing easier coverage, making you look more efficient. I guess it will be hard to tell this season
that is true. what I like about Harper though is most of his points is through slashing, and no matter if there are other players that needs the attention of the other defenders, there’s at least 1 opposing player that guarded him in those points. he just really outmaneuvers them. he’s too smooth, very much like a veteran instead of just a 2 month-rookie.
Absolutely and I definitely did NOT argue that shouldn’t matter in a ROY race 2 years ago…
“Stats on bad teams”.
Flagg is on pace to shatter the record for clutch points in a season by a rookie. The Mavs have also been beating some elite teams recently with Flagg leading the way.
I also don’t care how bad the team is, what Kon is doing is ridiculous offensively. If anything, he’s got way more defensive focus on him than a guy like Harper who is surrounded by way more talent.
Yeah, if they haven’t already, people are gonna have to recalibrate real soon where they think the Mavs are this year. They’re going on a sneaky run here and the team will only get better once Kyrie (aka another adult PG) rejoins the team
They need to try and move AD for a haul if they can while he’s playing really well.
It’s a shame that it would make sense for yall to tank a bit this year to try to get at least one other core lotto talent next to Flagg this year, because otherwise I feel like the fully healthy Mavs could be a really fun team
The issue is we’d waste what are likely AD’s last 3 years of elite play only to fight for the 7 or 8 seed. If they can get a second 2026 first, a 2028 first and some younger rotation players, they need to do it. Keep Kyrie and they’ll still have a fun young squad next year, especially if Lively can be healthy.
Big “my favorite 19 year old super human is better than your favorite” energy.
He’s pretty similar to what castle was last year but castle just had more opportunities.. I feel like they are similar players but castle gets it done with power and Harper gets it done with finesse
I think he will end up the best player of his class
Flagg looks even better than advertised
I don’t know, he had massive hype, think it’s more meeting expectations
He looks about as good as advertised to me, as someone that’s really into the draft. He always was spoken of as one of the best prospects of the last 30 years, one tier below the generational caliber like Victor/ LeBron
I think his really slow start caused people to kind of forget what the hype was, what the expectations were, and how good he was in college. But now he’s comfortable, Jason Kidd is done doing ridiculously stupid things, and he’s playing up to his potential
I think he would have been the #1 pick in any year that doesn’t have a Flagg or Wemby type player. He has his mom’s smarts and dad’s feel for the game already.
Rookie mistake. Should have thrown himself into SGA and then fell to the floor. That’s how a MVP does it.
Gonna need to see if he has flop energy or cry at the mascot energy. A winner or a loser
Your argument would hold more water if it wasn’t a team sport.
Low hanging fruit joke Sga was the only one that showed up and faced the moment
Good play, great player, but blender is a crazy exaggeration for this play
This feels more like an opportunity to try and dunk on SGA than anything, from OPs perspective. Nice play by Harper though.
I hate that I don’t hate the Spurs anymore. All the boogie men from when I was younger are gone though and now an alien runs San Antonio.
if it’s any consolation, a lot of us still hate the Lakers :-)
That’s fair.
The fame and notoriety that Wemby and the young squad have given us is already way beyond any attention we got when we were still an empire, kind of insane to experience.
It’s a completely different swagger from the Pop era. I dig it.
Looks like the Spurs have exposed the Thunder’s record as being based on the easiest schedule in the league.
That 4th Q was classic Spurs strength in numbers beautiful basketball.
I’m a Spurs fan but I think that’s an oversimplification
I think two things can be true. The thunder have had a easy schedule, particularly when it comes to playing elite offenses, which is probably contributed to their start. Looking a bit more sparkling than their overall play is in reality
And… There’s still a ridiculously good team that’s been playing ridiculously good basketball. If they had been 24 and 1 and just continuously getting lucky and scraping by against bad teams. I think saying that they’re getting exposed would have some validity
But they’ve been just simply annihilating everyone up until this last week.
I think the Spurs are a team really feeling themselves, that are really well built to match the thunder on both ends. But I don’t think that should take away from the fact that OKC is a really, really good team, and still clearly one of the better teams of the past decade, at least at this point in the season
HEY NOW, Denver holds the number one spot, and they’re 21-8.
Looks like a extremely small/limited blender to me lol
A blender nonetheless
Pepper grinder maybe?
Tamest blender I ever seen
Lame title
Moreso put iHart in a blender. SGA played solid D, iHart got tricked away from helping.
There are times when you don’t pass the ball out. This was one of those times.
That play and the one when Keldon eats Chet’s lunch under the basket. 10⁄10
Nice move, but hardly a “blender.”
Man I love these Spurs colors. Honestly could be your primary jerseys.
Genuine question here. Is this not a travel?
No. Left foot pivot, right stepthrough.
It just looks weird because he’s doing the stepthrough while spinning lol
Is the blender in the room with us?
Now that’s how you pivot and shoot without traveling
The flopper got lost! Too bad!
SGA = FRAUD
Didn’t really put him in a blender, it’s just that SGA doesn’t play defense. Harper took full advantage though.
Yep, just poor defense by SGA and a simple post move by harper. Spurs O had thunders’ heads on swivels by this point.
Great move but he’s at an advantage, SGA’s coming off a screen.
Harper was the one coming off a screen
