Jokes aside I think this is deliberate from Wemby. Wemby purposefully bulldozed Chet and ate an offensive foul in the first half to get into his head. Like his quote from his rookie season: “Traumatizing, sometimes, is the goal.” Or maybe he picked it up from KG.

Blueprint is there but OKC still have the playoffs experience over them. Even OKC had to lose in the post season before winning the chip later. Even last year they had to grind it out. Spurs are probably going to have go through a similar experience, it’s rare a young team who hasn’t had any real post season battles wins it all first time around. We’ll see.

He looked like this for half the playoff games last year too. He and Jdub were very inconsistent and you could tell confidence wise game to game if they didn’t have it irregardless of the Jdub injury. Those games if SGA didnt carry their offense every posession they lost. That’s the thing with this OKC team. People say that they’re loaded, but on offense SGA is their only S tier player in the half court. Everyone else gets their offense from transition, turnovers and momentum 3s. Chet and Jdub are capable of creating their own offense, but in the playoffs they were equally likely to just be invisible.

When Chet and Jdub both play well they blew teams out of the water. But when one struggles it’s a close game. When both play like ass OKC look very bad. Ironically other than SGA it was Caruso that actually looked confident in his offense every game in the playoffs even if he wasnt hitting he looked to score without hesitation for the most part. Chet needs to develop that. When he’s off he’s very passive.

Also no team in this modern nba is unbeatable. With the over reliance on 3 and the high variance of 3 point shooting it’s going to allow for way more upsets.

Honestly most of the game he wasn’t even guarded by Wemby

They were doing it for this year’s DPOY less than two weeks ago.

The same game plan that a lot of teams use against Vic (physical wings roughing him up all night) is even more effective against Chet, who is somehow even skinnier.

I also have to wonder if being this damn skinny is going to lead to injuries down the line too. Muscle mass is important to prevent all sorts of joint/tendon/tissue injuries, and to maintain bone density…
