The Warriors’ mop guy showing his skill
Plays harder than Butler and Podz
Contract year for Mop Guy
Ran the analytics. He deserves the max or the Lakers will sign him
Sport VU data shows mop guy achieves short burst speed with 21.2mph max speed. Definitely max mop contract.
His sliding stops are unreal. We’re lookin at an avg .341-second slide-stopper, with a no-hitch, clean transition into ground grooming. Truly a generational talent, and the real reason the Dubs won the 2022 chip.
Mop Guy gets severely overlooked during that ‘22 Dubs run.
Now HERE’s a guy who knows his way around a mop. Anytime he is on the court water doesn’t stand a chance.
Idk, OKC seems like they need a new mop boy.

I enjoy the complete underreaction from players, refs, coaches, and fans. No one seems nearly as angry, frustrated or confused as they should be.
The only person I’m upset at in this clip is D-lo missing a point blank putback.
It just feels so on brand. He’s such a frustrating person
What do you mean? It was a defensive stop for the home team, and they got away with it too
The Warriors usually trades to the heat or the wolves so he may go there
He’s a towel waver, not a bus driver. No max
Heat are willing to get into the second apron for him. He’s getting the bag.
Floor man gets paid
With more useful time on the court than Kuminga
Podz plays hard, he’s just boneheaded as PG
Tbh, his problem is that he plays too hard sometimes lmao
also jimmy makes 1400% more than podz so both are kinda not the same
Yup. He plays good next to a true PG (like Pat or Chris Paul)
He got his joy back by doing those knee slides
If I see one more jump pass from Jimmy..
Dude’s got flair he the Pistol Pete of mop guys
Increased pace of play must be doing a number on mop staff
never forget the okc mop guy stopping a fastbreak
I mean that’s legitimately just terrible form, why would you be mopping those spots with your back to the action when you can do so just as well facing it?
Nah, advanced analytic metrics like JAN and ITOR clearly show it’s much better to mop facing away from the basketball
These computer nerds are ruining the game, back in my day janitors were the mop guys and if you did well you got to guard Wilt Chamberlain
“got to” guard him? they were throwing these poor janitors to the wolves
The Wolves were created on 89, fool!!!
Dr. Jan Itor
That should 100% be a team technical on OKC and Minnesota gets 1 shot and ball on the side.
smh refs are favoring OKC again
Skill issue. SGA draws contact on the mop guys and gets to the free throw line there 10 times out of 10
this has me crying for some reason 🤣
Plus mop guy wasn’t in a legal guarding position.
If I am a nba player and a mopper is in my way than he’s getting fucked up!
Imagine dunking on a mop dude.
No one’s ever done it so you’d be the first and a legend forever.
Hell yeah, I’d posterize him so hard that when I’m done, they’d need to bring out another mop guy for the fuckin mop guy!
Nah I’d take the mop and wipe the postered person off the floor with it.
I didn’t know Jason Kidd coached the mop guys in OKC
That shit was so funny bro
Him saying “hit me” was genuine comedy.
My favorite part is he doesn’t even complain he just gets back on defense as if nothing happened.
Shoutout Team Attendants/Ball Boys/Locker Room attendants. I got to do this 2019-2024 I enjoyed it so much, a grind no one understands but also a privilege I’m extremely grateful for
just curious how did you land the gig ?
the answer is knowing someone 10 times out of 10 for jobs like this. there’s no mop guy combine, although there should be
Yeah pretty much. Whenever people ask creators how to become famous like them or get into a super niche career the answer is usually “be in the right place at the right time with the right people”, AKA Luck.
it’s crazy to equate “how to be famous” with “how to be the mop boy”
it’s basically the same for us
Well from my understanding that is basically all teenagers want to be right now. Famous on social media.
They are equidistant for you and I, Frosty
You either get lucky or freeride on the luck of those who came before you (nepo babies, etc)
Let the guy answer for himself, sheesh
it is sort of luck. but when you get to fields like that, and filter for people who genuinely put a lot of time and effort in, and the people who have a knack for it and actually do a smart job with their effort, i think most people would be surprised at how low that number is. the world is far from a perfect meritocracy, but i think there is a lot to be said for creating your own luck and waiting for your moment. i think the world today motivates a lot of instant gratification, and a lot people lack the patience and mental fortitude to stick it out and keep working hard at something that isn’t paying off yet.
genuinely put a lot of time and effort in
how much time and effort can you really put into mopping & towel boy duties… Given the barrier of entry is so low for these roles, these athlete adjacent jobs are all given to ex-athletes or pro-athlete adjacent individuals (friends/family)
Nonsense, this guy was the first round pick out of Gonzaga’s mopping program.
Yea, but he wasn’t highly scouted out of high school b/c he didn’t have a crazy mop-mixtape
Scouts are obsessed with 360-windmill-nolook-swiffer wipe-downs but ignore good fundamentals.
although there should be
be the change!
Correct. I got to be the mop guy for a Bulls/SuperSonics game where pregame I got to catch free throws shot by MJ and pass him back the ball. As well as a mop guy during a Final Four and it was all because my dad was a sports executive for a long time.
He mopped up the competition
My senior year of college (2019-2020 season), I applied online for the g league team for this role. Thought it would be a fun job and surprised thy actually looked at resumes. My full time job out of college happen to be in the city for the parent club, so my g league boss sent my info and got me the same role for the nba team.
He practiced with Mr. Miyagi
mopped the floor with the best of em
Also what’s the pay like? I could see it being both ridiculously low or ridiculously high lol
My organization paid Minimum wage. I’ll guess all nba teams pay minimum wage or some low hourly rate. It’s a part time job, worked something like 430p-1130p for a 730p game.
Outside of the pay, any cool perks? Or favorite memories? Do you staff meal comps? Free parking?
Major perk is we get a ton of team issued gear and even cool things like game worn jersey’s, since our boss was the equipment manger. Except for work initiatives (rebounding, laundry, running player tasks, maintaining bench & locker), we don’t interact with the players/coaches too much. I still got to know a few of the over time, though.
Yes we got free parking, but we parked with arena staff, not the under-tunnel team parking, so it’s not really a perk lol. We got food, but we were more like vultures and ate after the players/coaches/staff ate. Away teams also leaves tips for ball boys to split, and when ball boys run a personal errand for a player (I did this a lot since I worked away locker) they usually tip you pretty well. Errands were like grabbing Uber Eats order, getting arena food like popcorn, going to the store to buy case of beer
Favorite memories will spill the team I worked for. Since i worked away locker for a couple seasons, I developed relationships with visiting players/staff. I have a some signed stuff from opposing players that remembered me and I was especially cool with. I usually stayed in the locker room during game, so I talked with the injured/resting players a lot -> I’ve seen our favorite players drink beer, saw a HOF getting high off a pen and munch on popcorn (I don’t smoke weed at all but he didn’t play that night, had a device, red eyes, put shades on, got paranoid when the bomb dogs came to sniff luggage, and he left the arena early lol), and debated hoops and were told funny ass stories from players lol
Man that’s cool! What was it like from the standpoint of how it’s all managed and coordinated? I’m getting vibes that it was more controlled chaos haha
We arrived 3ish hours before tip off, and it was pretty organized/a routine in setting up benches, folding towels, prepping locker rooms. Before we branched off into your “assignment” (on court rebounder or by one of the locker rooms or referee locker room). When the teams come in and during game it can get chaotic because everything needs to be completed urgently; imagine a production assistant or an intern on set of a movie and you just do what you’re told.
Oh also sitting Courtside is sick lol.
Ridiculously okay.
Nepotism my friend
The amount of running and cutting curry does, they need this guy for his safety.
I think the injuries curry has had have been due to slips on the court.
This is what peak male performance looks like
I wonder how many women in the stadium were swooning from watching him do that!
Efficient king
Dude should put mop pads on his knees too
Make the whole outfit a mop and he can just sprawl out when he slides
thinking about a guy in a full mop costume sliding in spread eagle multiple times a game is fantastic
The mascots are already right there, just slide baby.
Maybe the most underappreciated job in the NBA and it looks like he’s having a blast.
Kudos.
Floor man gets paid.
$18/hr
Pay isn’t great, but they said it will look good on resume
“Experience quickly resolving issues for multi-million dollar clients in a high pressure environment”
Hire this man as your agent/negotiator, people
Everyone has bs like that on their cv. “Mop guy for nba team” stands out, you have a chance to be more original, don’t always settle for buzzword bs
To add to this - I would bring it up in every interview tbh it’s really interesting, and easy to pivot off of
How many people currently making $18 an hour wouldn’t trade places with a guy who gets to be on the court in an NBA game?
Shit, I make $24 and I would. At least I wouldn’t hate my job.
floor check, mop check, paycheck
Genuinely so important too, probably prevents so many bad injuries
Well, bravo! At least he is trying his best in his job and preventing injuries.
Seems like a pretty sweet job too. Get to watch free basketball games up close, just gotta be able to do this Olympic level mopping
I bet the paycheck is decidedly unsweet
Compared to all the other custodial jobs that pay low wages, I’d take this one any day
Weird question. Why are they wiping with towels now? Theses to have almost a swifter duster type of thing with a large round mop head and now I’ve been noticing that this is all I’m seeing now
I guess in an effort to avoid situations like the OKC/wolves clip posted above. Can move faster with just the towels
edit: and probably less of a tripping/stabbing hazard for the players
What OKC/wolves clip? I only see the GSW one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCaTFoAQ7vU
Oh wow, crazy. Honestly though, that’s just 2 guys not paying attention, it not like the mops where slowing them down from being able to get off the court
Professional curlers about to get their minor leaguers into the NBA for max mopping training
I bet he is a better basketball player than Brandon Poopzemski
Making sure ai ain’t taking his job
Roomba kept getting stuck on the court side seats or going to the locker room halfway through its job.
Sweepy can do that but faster, no complaints, no unions, just needs his daily charging and hes all good.
Tbf he would make a great battery
Thinking about it I have no idea why I never tried to become a ball boy or mop boy
Literally get effectively courtside seats to actively watch legends play
You probably need to know someone from the team to get job like that.
Lots of basketball fans would probably do this for free if given the chance. Free court side seat and you get to actually step on the court during a game to do your job? Sign me up
Who wipes up his sweat from working so hard?
That shit would kill your back doing that all game for multiple games at a time.
And your knees
Facts, I’d probably die out there lol
Lol I would be shocked if these guys (and gals) weren’t late teens or early 20’s. They’ll be alright lol.
Can’t they equip them with rollers and mops so they just do fly-by drying
Effectiveness - mops stay wet but you can grab a new dry rag every time, I know my college used the mop but with NBA $$$ it’s not a problem to go through 50 rags a gam
Detachable mop head
Do you think you could pick up a rag, or swap out a mop head faster? If there’s a turnover and fast break, could you get out of the way faster with a mop or a rag (see video above)?
I find it crazy there’s no better absorbent technology after all this time, and they have returned to a simple towel that we’ve used forever.
per minute numbers are probably highly ethical for this guy
I’d do this for free tbh
They should track which team’s home floor has the least slips on the floor and reward the mop guys accordingly. I feel like that would make a decent PTFO episode too if there was a correlation between opponent slip % vs. home team slip % at a particular team’s floor
Why is he using rag/towels? The rest of the league o feel like has those flat mop things
Cutting costs to pay Butler.
When I was in college our mop guy got caught in the play, stopped the fast break for the opposition. Next home game there was merch for “mop guy” with a silhouette of him trying to run to get out of the way lmao
This reminds me of the Bucks equipment manager getting lumped into the Gianni’s quote that everyone has to step up their game and then the who gets the game ball fiasco happened.
The glovers are never gonna stand a chance if this guy joins the sliders
Exactly my thoughts
Naz Reid
AI will take that job from him someday
He should be in the NBA
Check out that speed
Whatever you do, do your best. Then you will excel in life.
Reminds me of the guy in those videos that runs through there house
Good on him man. His dedication saves injuries.
What ever happened to those big circle mop pads. Feel like I don’t see them anymore
the lebron james of mopping
I bet he’s covered in basketball players’ sweat by the end of the shift. I bet he’s all filthy with their sweat
Work smarter not harder lol
Would’ve been ironic if he slipped (safely!) and undid his work there.
what happened to the mop thingys?
He’s actually smearing Crisco onto the court.
Damn this guy rocks
He’s balling harder than many of the players
No knee pads? This guys a pro.
I’d rather watch this guy than Jimmy Butler foul bait all game
Make this an Olympic sport.
I always wonder why don’t teams actually give these dudes a mop or something where they don’t have to get on their literal hands and knees.
what an awesome job this is. u can run on the court and no one gonna stop you.
They make a better tool for this. He’s doing too much. It’s cringy.
I guess I’m not qualify to mop the floor for NBA teams.
There’s more glory for this job in the NBA, but more money in it in porn.
Giannis is a fan
I wonder who was standing in that spot that he had to keep wiping in the second clip. Floor was soaked
As a Carolina panthers fan, I wish this guy had taught cam how to properly slide.
The first clip looks like AI almost hes moving so quick lol
Steph curry of mopping
Elite wax on, wax off game there.
The warriors can’t even afford to give the poor guy one of those big-ass chamois cloths on an oval board attached to a broom handle?
Dude would be a great curler. Fast wrists, good footwork.
elite tier slider
Me at the gym trying to get a shootaround in while a full court pickup game is in progress
How you do anything is how you do everything!
If the refs gave me 10% of their cut I wouldn’t wipe it.
The highlights I am looking for.
I remember this good article ESPN wrote about the day-to-day lives of NBA ball boys and every little thing they do: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45226210/nba-ball-boys-oklahoma-city-thunder
Solid work. But shouldn’t he be rocking a full body mop suit and progressively dive across the floor more and more flamboyantly (like a soccer player who just scored) as the game progresses
The guy that wipes down the loads.
I have season tickets to the valks and this guy out there every game putting his body on the line. Truly inspiring work.
This is a pretty good mop. It’s not as good as my first mop. I miss my first mop, but this is still a good mop. Sometimes, you just hafta take what life gives ya, ‘cause life is like a mop and sometimes life gets full of dirt and crud and bugs and hairballs and stuff… you gotta clean it out. You gotta put it in here and rinse it off and start all over again and, and sometimes, sometimes life sticks to the floor so bad you know, a mop, it’s not good enough, it’s not good enough. You gotta get down there, like, with a toothbrush, you know, and you gotta, you gotta really scrub ‘cause you gotta get it off. You gotta really try to get it off. But if that doesn’t work, that doesn’t work, you can’t give up. You gotta stand right up. You gotta run to a window and say, “Hey! These floors are dirty as hell, and I’m not gonna take it anymore!”
Former French Open ball boy
This is what my parent meant when they said give 100% always , someone is bound to be watching
Based on the hustle alone he deserves a roster spot on the Clippers more than most of the team
is this the dude that used to mop at cal basketball games? go bears :D
would it be more efficient if they make them wear a full body mop suit so they can just slide around?
Better at his job than I am at mine so I respect it.
The ability to just drive up the floor and stop on a dime to mop is impeccable.
I haven’t seen skills like that since the great SpongeBob SquarePants brought down the house at the Krusty Krab
This guy fucks
Honestly, I’d sign him, he’d probably be doing better than Podz and Buddy tbh.
Reminds of Kramer as a tennis ball boy just putting everyone to shame.
JK, this is the minimum effort needed to get off the bench.
Has any of these towel guys been run into from a sudden turnover or anything?
is this normal during play?
Love the professional behavior. We should all do our jobs with this excellence

Plays harder than most starters on defense ggs
Floor Jordan
Slider and glover, nice.
Where’s the mop?
why they got hand towels?.. its so much faster with stick
I don’t watch much basketball so I’ve gotta ask, what is contributing to so much fluid on the court that a mop/dude with rags has to run out and so vigorously clean it? Are the players truly sweating that much? Are they forgoing the lavatory and simply relieving themselves mid-game? Are they squirting themselves when their teammates hit good shots?
man is slide cancelling
I dont know why, but this is how Steph would do it
NBA please start track advance stat for those guys.
Pretty impressive how they never show up on live broadcast
