“You just blew two calls. You f*cking know it” - Chris Finch
Didn’t watch the game but I am SHOCKED anybody would accuse Zach Zarba of blowing calls
He’s the same guy that Udoka said was “acting starstruck” like 2 days ago lol
I’m convicted it’s his fetish
I’m convicted
Damn, hope you beat the charges.
Zach Zarba, yeah that checks out
Double shocked that it would be Chris Finch. I’ve never seen him blame the refs for anything, let anyone get this heated.
As a Twolves fan.. I’d appreciate if he tried to get tossed in the 1st qtr more bc the team has come out flat in almost every game this season
lmao the Dubs play by play announcer endlessly glazes Zarba.
They’re the worst commentators in the league, I swear. I watch on mute
I’m convinced that the Warriors announcers talk more about how good a ref is, the worse they believe the ref is. Kinda like talking in code.
Or they’re just morons who suck at their job
And I am SHOCKED that Chris Finch is bitching about officiating
I know the names of like two NBA referees and this specimen is one of them
Every ref blows calls just like every player misses shots and every coach fucked up rotations or strategy.
I can guarantee you wouldn’t watch a game officiated by AI that called everything perfectly by the book.
Yea, why do you think that is? Because players get away with tons of shit right now. If it did happen, then either the NBA would adapt or the rules would change, it’s not like everyone would say “oh dang AI is too good” and leave it at that
Sounds like you’re an originalist in terms of basketball. There is a game like basketball was intended to be, it’s called Netball. Go watch it.
I prefer the NBAs action even if it’s impossible to officiate 100% and sometimes my team gets the short end of the stick.
I have zero opinion on it honestly, I’m just saying there’s no way you could ever suddenly implement perfect rule enforcement and have it go well, there are decades and decades of strategy built around how rules are enforced
Not just about blown calls, they straight up ignore their own damn rules of the game. People see it clear as day, yet they aren’t held accountable.
This guy really does think we go watch games for the refs.
I’m confused. Nuggets fans were saying Zarba is one of the best in the league a couple days ago
Nobody said that
Yeah but maybe he got starstruck again by Jock Landale.
When The Athletic polls players I’m pretty sure he’s typically voted as the best ref (or one of the best).
Wait till he officiates them against the Lakers or OKC
depends on who wins the game
This reminds me of Coach Pop saying “You make a call, that’s your two points”.
As a big Spurs fan, imma need more background on this. I haven’t heard the story
You got jock landale’d
Right-o mate
Was awesome, jock missed the 3 but then tried again and got that one at the end! Love these grizzlies, plus glad BC is back
Just got Jock-Cocked
Our shrimps are thoroughly barbied
Happy day of basketball for all Australians
Well, depends on whether you wanted Jock or Joe to win but oh well.
Getting torched by White boys this season. They circle the Wolves games ig
Meanwhile Mitch Johnson gets a missed call, a tech, and his 3 points taken away last night against the Knicks
That literally fucked the Spurs and changed the entire game lmao
It would have been 104-100 plus a free throw for the Spurs for a blocking foul, instead 104-97 and even Brunson missing a technical
Every possession changes the game. It was a bad string of events but didn’t keep the Spurs from overcoming it.
People are obsessed with blaming the refs for L. It’s very rarely the case.
While true in general, this one was blatantly horrible. We won the fucking challenge and still got fucked.
you knew going into the challenge that the shot wouldn’t count, it was just tactically questionable and then being so demonstrative about something for which he had to look back to the 2nd row of the bench was strange
Thems the rules. No different than in football where the whistle calls the play dead and that can’t be reversed.
Basketball is jazz, not sheet music. There has always been a certain level of chaos that the best players and teams improvise and feed off.
And it’s fucking boring too!
You know what they say, never rely on the refs to win the game. Blew a wide open layup, didn’t blitz the PnR, missed free throws? That ain’t the refs fault homie
A 7 point difference is a world of difference from a 4 point game. I hate the Spurs and have a lot of reasons to like the Knicks but “get good” is a dumbass response
Would you still get the counted bucket and blocking foul free throw together?
Not if the shot was taken after the foul, which I’m pretty sure it was since Kornet threw the pass. The whistle was definitely late though
Kornet didn’t throw the pass, he was rolling to the ring at the time the pass was made.
As long as the ball is in the air yes
Sports are dumb at this point. Just go spend time with your family or find a fun hobby. Learn how to rebuild cars or some shit.
Just don’t discover fusion power as a hobby or you get an UberXterminated
Man Mitch was heated lol it was nice to see
Look imma be honest, I was able to catch the first 3 quarters of that game and almost every call felt like it went in favor of the Knicks.
He was trying so hard to get a tech and Zach wouldn’t give it lol
Was he really ? Is it like a baseball tradition thing where if a manager gets thrown out, it fires up the team and they play better ?
Game was effectively over and I think he just wanted to show his team he’s standing up for them for future games. Sometimes a T fires up the team, but wasn’t the goal in this case.
Well, without the tech I guess he’ll just have to stand up for them in the press conference.
Will the real Chris Finch please stand up?
Finch complaining about officiating in a post game conference. What else is new?
If a head coach gets a technical foul in the last 2 minutes of a game, the offending team is awarded 40 free throws
Did OKC convince you to come up with this?
Depends on the team but Phil Jackson used to do it with some success.
Missed part of the quote where he told him to shut the fuck up lol
That’s a sports tradition, not a baseball one.
He looks like he’s trying his absolute best to look mad, but he’s not very good at it because he’s just a really nice guy, and the ref knows it.
as if the refs did anything to swing this game for us. they were letting minnesota get away with murder that whole 4th Q
Yeah I hate this it’s like the refs are fucking up all game but when they fuck up at the end it’s bias. No. They’re just incompetent.
It’s the same crew as the Hou-Den game and I was trying to tell everyone the same thing lol. Like yes they were shit for Houston in the clutch but they were just… Bad all game. It didn’t seem malicious just incompetent
Or NBA basketball is just hard to referee
Refs were ass all game, let both teams play football in the 1st, got super ticky tack in the 2nd, called a pretty normal 3rd, and just went full classic worst refs in the 4 major sports in the 4th
Wolves played like ass regardless, but I’m always team fuck the refs
The point where this clip happened actually favored the Wolves honestly. They went to foul and the Grizzlies seemingly evaded it and no foul was called and then Jaden Mcdaniels (I think) starts yelling that he meant to foul even though he wasn’t near them anymore, so then Zach Zabra called it. It’s just weird to not call one and then a few seconds later call it because they told you they were trying to foul because then, what would be the point of trying to evade it if you’re on offense? It was a weird game where it was physical sometimes with no calls and then super tight out of nowhere.
It was a spectacular clusterfuck to the detriment of both teams. It should have been called immediately but it wasn’t, then Jaden raised his hands going “wtf?” and Zarba called it like 2 seconds later after no further contact. So the wolves lost time and the grizzlies got screwed on a complete phantom makeup whistle out of ref embarrassment.
Yeah that last part. NBA refs are so inconsistent within a game it makes it tough to watch. But again tonight the Wolves made it hard to watch on their own, refs could have given them 10 more FTs and still would have lost
I mean fwiw it’s impossible to avoid the foul if you’re on the ball and a guy is within arm’s reach and trying to foul you
As a neutral fan who only watched the last 6 minutes, I didn’t see any egregious calls, especially in the couple of possessions prior to this
The play he was mad about was pretty egregious, it’s the one where KCP had the ball and the Wolves were trying to “end of game” foul him and that ref just sat there like an idiot not blowing his whistle and then when KCP got away from the Wolves players, the ref finally called a foul when there wasn’t a Minnesota player within 2 feet of him, and the ref had let an additional second at least go. Just some epically bad reffing.
[deleted]
Mf he fouled out u want 10 fouls?
They still salty about what happened in the playoffs they gotta get over it
Gobert hitting a fadeaway over Jokic with the shot clock expiring in Game 7 must live rent free in their heads
I know it would in mine if that happened to my team
That ref’s group chat must be going crazy tonight!
Or very silent, no in-between
Maybe.. but without Ant, Minnesota isn’t a competitive team. You can play Dillingham at -19 and think this games within reach. Coaching error and wolves all around didn’t show up.
Dillingham is looking like a fucking bust
Spurs lowkey fleeced the Wolves that draft night goddamn
they used that draft pick to get fox as well iirc. i fucking hate how good their FO is
Y’all won’t be saying this during Edey’s prime. Spurs should’ve taken him at 8 instead
Edey’s prime very well may be right this very second, and it could be short. He’s damn near as tall as Wemby and very heavy, and already seems like he’s dealing with persistent injuries.
I’ll admit it. I thought there was zero chance he’d be effective in the NBA. I am truly, genuinely stunned at how good a player Edey is. I think that is just counting a lot of chickens before they hatch at this point. I’m really rooting for him, but the Spurs I’m sure aren’t too put out at the moment.
Are you daft? We still have Anthony Edwards.
And Rudy Gobert. And Jaden McDaniels. And Naz Reid
My guy, you’re still very much in the midst of the most successful run in your team’s history and you have a 24 year old top 10 player in basketball. And you still have the majority of your picks the next 6-7 years.
This doomer shit is coming way too early.
One team wins a title every year, man.
DC sports had the longest title drought of a city with teams in all major sports prior to 2018, when our Caps won (and then our Nats did the following year). I know what it’s like to root for perennial losers. Y’all took our place for the longest drought once we won, but I’m not talking about this like I’m a Boston sports fan or some shit.
You can be a sad sack about it, or you can appreciate that you’re in the midst of an era with your basketball team that I’ve never seen with my Wiz. You’ve have more Conference Finals appearances in the last two years than my team has had in almost five decades - and by the time this current team is ready to compete, if they do get there, it’ll have likely been a full fifty years.
Enjoy what you’ve got.
Wolves fans complain Finch doesn’t play Dillingham but this is what happens when he does
Nah he’s been fine tbh, surprisingly decent defense, can drive by guys and is a good passer. Problem is when Ant is gone and they play Rob in literally any lineup with Julius watch what happens. The second Rob crosses half court with the ball Julius will sprint past the 3pt line at the top of the key and stand there demanding the ball, offense grinds to a halt, Julius goes iso bully ball with shit spacing, repeat until lineup changes.
When he gets to play with literally any other lineup he’s pretty effective lately. He’s just not a good enough shooter currently to play him and have him sit in the corner on offense, need to have guys cutting and moving the ball with him in.
Not when they shoot 25% from 3. Lots of hate for Rudy but his defense shows up every game and he was the Wolves best player on offense tonight. Lots of offense only guys on the Wolves who are very inconsistent
Rudy was good tonight. Without Edey we didn’t really have much one on one that could do a lot against him on the offensive glass.
idk about lots of offense only guys… really only Julius and Naz
Gobert/Jaden are defense first, Dilly and Donte are equally good on both ends (unfortunately), Ant is as good as the game allows on either end, and TSJ/Bones are too in flux
Rudy got smoked by Jock Landale lmao
I think the strategy was to guard the paint and live with the Jock Landale corner 3. Probably a fair strategy
Jock’s been shooting great from the 3 the whole season though, why is it a good strategy to bet a good 3 point shooter won’t hit them?
This is a nothing burger comment imo, most teams aren’t competitive without their best player lol. We also have a 4-2 record without ant right now iirc
Dillingham is playing in China in 5-6 years
Eh, Dilly will probably be in the NBA in 5-6 years but running tank command for some poverty franchise that’s embarking on yet another rebuild (not us).
Puka somewhere nodding in agreement
Zach is just trying to get on TV
Chris Finch honestly has some of the worst post-game press conferences. I know he’s a good coach, but the amount of times where I see him blame refereeing when they lose is crazy, especially in games where that was not significant
One of the biggest babies in a head coaching position. He’s a strange one.
He not a good coach
He will land someplace else quickly. Sometimes with coaches both sides (team and coach) benefit from a change in scenery.
Run short? Look at this roster and tell me that this roster is good enough to beat any of the current top 4 western conference teams.
He did in fact happen to be there for both playoff runs yes
He does more bad than good I’ll give him credit recently he haven’t been bad
Please ignore our village idiot.
We got a lot of em
Yeah.. this guy got circumcised so, just try to understand him.
Finch ain’t gon let u fuck hop off
Dudes got to be the favorite to be Real Madrid’s next coach, based on how he blames the ref every time he loses.
that club is a disgrace. they make slander videos for referees before the game is even played
JAREN JAAREENNNN ….. JAAAAAAAAAAAAARENNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!
lmao
Finch is absolutely unbearable.
Chris Finch is giving off major Matt Foley van down by the river vibes in this sequence with the waist lift at the end
Finch whinging about the refs, what a surprise. This dudes a clown
can’t believe this tool didn’t get a tech during this
I think it’s cause Finch constantly complains about refs
It’s his go to move when he gets out coached
you might be a little confused because this was a player issue instead of a coaching issue. if he said “stop passing the ball and just pull up” then I agree it was a coaching issue, but he had approximately 0 levers to pull since only Gobert and Naz were on and neither should really be creating for themselves for extended periods (with all due respect to Naz)
Coaches have been ejected for way less
Ref wanted to clock out for the night. There was like 15 seconds left
Think you’re safe at the end of the game? Guess again.
Really seemed like he was actively trying to get a tech
udoka for a tech for doing less than this, same week
Lebron trucking Tyler Ford but only getting one tech sets the bar. Anybody can do anything to a ref now.
“Trucking” yeah ok lmao
I’m not sure if Finch’s crash out is warranted but Zarba literally didn’t know that reaching over the line on an inbounds is a tech and he’s an NBA ref.
he’s union, all good
So you prefer working 15 hour days, seven days a week for less money and no health insurance?
Zach Zarba can’t wait to text his friends in the group chat “yo you just saw me on NBA TV? That was a foul but I didn’t call it”
Chris finch cannot be that mad. Finch is very lucky the ref called a late ass foul on the play before this.
Finch sounds like me at home while watching certain games. Lol.
I love coaches like this ngl
Is there any head coach that complains about calls more than Chris Finch?
Coach needs to be a referee for once and see if you can mae correct calls 100% of the time.
It seemed to me like McDaniels (I think it was him) was pointing out to the ref that he was trying to intentionally foul and they didn’t call it so the ref blew the whistle like 2 seconds later. I think he thought he was doing the wolves a favor and then he got that ass chewed out.
Either way the officiating was consistently terrible this game in both directions. Sometimes it looked like football out there and there was no air in the whistle and other times it took 25 real minutes to get through 4 minutes of game time because 12 free throws happened across 5 possessions.
It seems like good’ol Zacky is on a Christmas rampage to fuck up as many games he can before 2026.
Bloody good rep.
The girl in the background got the vid, waiting for her to post it haha.
The full exchange between the two (Streamable)
Maybe just call hard fouls, traveling, and palming the ball. The NBA has insane talent currently, and the refs are ruining the sport.
Why is the ref giving grief to the coach, almost like the ref wants the feedback. #justref
Did he get T’d up?
I usually think when they don’t give out techs, they got money on the game. Like that is totally a technical worthy call on the coach but seems like they know they fucked up.
Finch is soft
Chris Finch is about as whiney of a coach as I have ever seen in sports.
Should someone tell Finch the NBA is fixed??
Chris were on live
OF coaches, is it anyone more whiney and ref complaining in the league?
Chris Finch the biggest idiot coach since…Chris Finch
What a whiney ass franchise, from top to bottom
Lol imagine posting about ant in the lakers sub as a thunder fan. Rent free
Huh
He should cry more about his team who couldnt beat a Grizzlies team without Ja before he cries about the refs
yall still salty Finch ragdolled JJ Redick in playoffs
Nah he’s right. Chris finch’s shit mentality and incessant whining has straight up infected the twolves culture
Oh yeah that real positive twolves culture. Maybe TWolves culture infected Finch
I’ll believe it when we find out Finch has fathered multiple children the past 3 years and dumped the mothers.
He beat a rookie coach who had to change his whole entire gameplan for the season after the FO traded their star center for Luka who was overweight and depressed.
I guess that’s a great achievement
poor JJ Redick had to coach Luka!!
Indeed
You misspelled Edey
Grizzlies without Ja are a much much better team right now
Memphis is 8-5 without Ja, 5-9 when he plays.
Hes going to blame Shai and the Thunder
You should see him when he losses by 30. All the refs fault too
When did wolves lose by 30?
Game 5 of the second round comes to mind…
Im talking about this year & he didn’t complain about refs in game 5
You’re right, coach finch never complains about the refs and they never get blown out
What’s the number of teams the wolves have beaten above .500? Are we still at 2?
Don’t worry about it
The Wolves are gonna be the 6th seed and will meet the No.3 Rockets and will get molly wopped on the glass and lose in 5.
Brother McDaniels fouled out 😭 tf u talking about
According to this thread Finch is the only coach that yells at the refs during a game.
lol i don’t get all the pearl clutching at this. it’s not some uniquely chris finch thing to scream at a ref or to scream at one and not get a tech. he probably should’ve gotten one, but that’s up to the ref and it’s not even like the grizzlies lost by 1 point because of it.
He didn’t get one because the game was all but over
