Nah, this time last year we were realizing that Dyson Daniels was legit. The real turnaround happened either when we did the 2nd Dejounte trade or won the lottery

This time last year the Hawks were 4 games above .500 and just beat the Knicks in the NBA cup semifinals.  The mid didn’t happen until Jalen got injured at the end of December.

Atlanta finally stopped trying to win every argument at once. Picks buy you time, and time fixes mistakes.

Other stuff too. The Hunter trade was really smart in retrospect. The Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu deals locked two key rotation guys in on very cheap deals compared to their production. The NAW signing was good over the summer and looks even better now given his breakout season.

No doubt they will but hopefully it gets us a pick within the 16-22 range. For some reason, hawks always draft the hidden gems in that range but seem to fall flat within the lottery

The injury luck has been brutal and the chemistry is all out of whack too. The bench is weaker than expected and Garland is only gradually regaining his form after his long absence.

Like others have said, injuries have hit hard. Our core 4 has been on the floor only 57 minutes together this season. Now Mobley is out 2-4 weeks, we’ll be lucky if they’re on the floor together before the all star break at this point.

Our two best role players, off ball movers, and , shooters (Strus and Merril) have been unavailable. Strus hasn’t played yet and Merrill has missed more than half the season.

Garland is back from his toe surgery but taking much longer to get back into form than expected.

Still plenty of season left to turn it around but the only real positive so far has been Jaylon Tysons breakout.

What’s discouraging is our lack of energy, Mobley not taking the next leap coming off his breakout season, Lonzo and Hunter having miserable seasons, and the burden it’s put on Mitchell so early on.

If y’all get the pick after it jumps up, that means that Atlanta would still get a top 8 pick from the Hunter trade. I think every Hawks fan would take that lol

In this scenario, who would have the original Jazz pick? Us or the Cavs? I’m very confused about this pick because we also have a swap with Spurs

No. Cavs would get worst of spurs/hawks and hawks would get Cavs pick. Spurs can only swap picks with hawks own pick

Spurs/Hawks pick trade happens first, so the Spurs don’t have access to the Cavs pick.

So as an example, if it’s:

• Cavs 14th
• Hawks 16th
• Spurs 18th

The Spurs can choose between the 16th pick (Hawks) and 18th pick (Spurs) pick. The Hawks then get to choose between the 14th pick (Cavs) and whichever pick the Spurs don’t take (so the 18th pick). Then the Cavs get whatever is left. Which means our example above becomes:

• Hawks 14th
• Spurs 16th
• Cavs 18th

They use the picks and keep Zacch. Presumably KP and Kennard’s expiring contracts are moved and the Hawks then look to acquire a capable young backup center. That is a simple and straightforward way to keep building for the future.

Queen has been amazing but like I feel like you could’ve traded Trey Murphy or Herb Jones or something instead of a likely top 3 pick
