Several Knicks fans near MSG were happy the team won the 2025 NBA Cup
I mean it was like 25 degrees out at 11 pm on a Tuesday night.
Plus MSG hosted a rangers game that night.
Do people think we just hang around Penn station after all Knicks games?
Those viral videos taken are from people leaving the stadium after home games. Why would anybody be there when there at midnight when the team was playing in Vegas?
People aren’t very bright lol
If they won a first round series that wouldn’t stop them
So if the giants or jets won the superbowl, nyc would be dead?
this is nowhere near a super bowl or finals trophy
Jets and super bowl in the same sentence just seems weird
My dude no one is saying the NBA cup is equal to the Superbowl?
Why would Jets and Giants fans celebrate right outside Penn station
To be fair it was 11pm EST on a Tuesday evening and it was fucking frigid last night
Plus people don’t really hang out around MSG, the surroundings are the disgusting Penn/Moynihan station and the 33rd street shopping mall, so the bars and restaurants are all super overpriced and pretty lame. The Knicks bar by where I live was packed, let’s not disrespect Knicks fans commitment
Yeah Knicks bar in Brooklyn was poppin off
I’m with you that 34th doesn’t have much going on other than K-Town, but Moynihan is the opposite of disgusting. It’s like the most sterile train station I’ve ever seen.
You don’t understand, thats what makes it unappealing
Inside it (and Penn) are nicer but who’s hanging around those stations lol it’s get in/get out
The food court thing in moynihan is really nice and always packed (I walk by it multiple times a week.) It has a bunch of great food places, a bar, even live music sometimes.
Moynihan really is nice and to some extent a destination now. The area outside is still gross though.
Penn is a little nicer these days since they’ve updated it
Moyhihan is a nice station
Brick* it was brick
Yeah that disgusting Penn station that was recently renovated and it’s spotlessly clean and gorgeous
Honestly manhattan isn’t really a great sports town imo most of the people that live there aren’t from the city so you don’t see a ton of fans for the local teams.
Brooklyn, Bronx and queens are much better atmospheres but even then the split teams lower the impact. It’s not like Philly or Boston where the city is united.
To be even more fair, 95% of NBA fans don’t give the smallest fuck about the NBA cup.
They were all in Vegas lol. Felt like MSG last night
Lmao the real fans couldn’t even afford the flight to Vegas, they were watching at the local sports bar crying into their overpriced beers
I’m sure there’s a huge segment of ‘real Knicks fans’ that can very comfortably afford a flight to Vegas.
I honestly don’t understand the near universal sentiment that ‘real fans’ gotta be struggling financially.
The general population, to some degree, struggles financially more often than not. Assuming the fan base isn’t disproportionately wealthy, this means the majority of fans can’t afford to spend that much on leisurely activities. Wealthy people who aren’t big fans are more likely to buy tickets than the largest income group of diehard fans simply because attending is only feasible for the well-off group. There are definitely plenty of financially stable, die hard fans of every team, don’t get me wrong, but they’ll never be anywhere close to the majority
The near universal sentiment isn’t that “most fans” can’t afford to go to games or can’t afford to fly to Vegas.
The near universal sentiment is that “real fans” can’t do those things.
It’s just so weird that I see this get posted about almost every fanbase with “high” ticket prices. For some weird reason, people seem to think that the people paying money to go see games are all there for clout and not because they genuinely like basketball.
You also have to remember that the majority of people on Reddit are 18 yrs old.
I mean sure, but let’s be real the Vegas IST games are not exactly meant to draw home team fans anyway, more so just provide an attraction for tourists already there.
I’m sure plenty of Knicks fans can afford to head to Vegas if they really want to, but is anyone really flying across the country a week before Christmas to watch the Emirates Cup final? Especially when they didn’t even know their team was going to be in it until late last week
i’m not struggling financially at all but i don’t think i can bring myself to spend around $1000+ on a trip to vegas just to watch a meaningless basketball game.
Would you say that the people that would spend that money aren’t “real fans” though?
i mean, i definitely get where the sentiment comes from. i’ve sat courtside a decent amount of times and majority of the time the people i’m sitting next to are in town for business being wined and dined, or they just don’t know jack shit about either team playing. its just a thing to do
definitely a different vibe from sitting even in lower level bargain seats where i can have genuine conversations with people about my team and the team they’re playing.
like 3-4 years ago i had an on/off conversation the whole game about Davion Mitchell with a random guy at a game. shit like that doesn’t happen courtside lol
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m wondering how it demonstrates that “real Knicks fans” all lack the financial capacity to afford a plane ticket to Vegas though.
You say yourself that you aren’t financially struggling, and that you’ve been in the priveleged position to sit courtside at multiple games. Do you think that makes you a fake Cavs fan?
i just think your regular working joes who have to use PTO and despite being financially comfortable can’t justify dropping a grand on a whim as opposed to people with more time on their hands, have more money than they know what to do with, get child care paid for (or figured out on short notice). obviously they’re not all “fake fans” but there’s a trend
And I’m sure that it’s way more likely that there are Knicks fans across the US who don’t need to fly across country to get there. Vegas might have Knicks fans, shock
Ahhh…do you know how much Knicks tickets cost? A flight to Vegas plus lower bowl tix for the Cup final is probably about the same as nosebleed seats for like Lakers at Knicks on Sunday Feb 1 (currently 480 for nosebleeds on seat geek lol).
My friend that has half-season tickets lucked into having that game and selling his 200s section tickets pretty much paid for the year.
Was about to say this. And \(480 is prob the lowest they'll be, I went to the Knicks/Lakers last year and considered going the year before and tickets spike the day of to like \)1000 for nosebleeds.
This is what a typical Pelicans crowd looks like.
what did pelicans do to catch this stray
Bruh Pels fans are awesome 😭
If you stick by the Pels, you gotta be the chillest person imaginable
Imagine being a Pels and Saints fan these days. Now that is loyalty
My brother is a Pels + Saints fan since moving to NOLA, and I’m married to a Kings fan - theyre both the most loyal people youll ever meet
Bad teams have great culture
I live in New Orleans and respect to these diehards man. I’m a Spurs and Vikings fan and it’s brutal. Can’t wait to see Zion back in form 🤞🤞
I seriously think they turned a corner. They gave the Wolves two games last week in the mini-series we had. I think they busted out two wins right after that.
Fears and Queen look great.
I was at the Spurs Pels game where Queen went off for 30. That dude is special.
Wait, they have fans at the games? Must be nice
Why he say fuck me ?
The game was in Vegas
If the final was held in MSG, shit would have been crazy as fuck outside
Get them Cup banners frfr
“Fuck my life, bing bong” - Adam Silver
Bingmotherfuckinbong
they were at home, in a bar, or in vegas watching the game. if msg had a watch party they wouldve been there.
Hey a trophy is a trophy
If you’re a Knicks fan in Brooklyn you’re not taking the train or driving to manhattan to stand in front of the stadium. Delete this fam
We are proud, but we are not delusional about what this means in the grand scheme of things.
It was cold as fuck last night
There’s gotta be a sidetalk video coming with Knick fans reacting in NYC, right?
nah it’s cold fam
But also this wasn’t at MSG - if there was even a watch party there you’d get something
It’s been cold these last two weeks, it actually snowed quite a bit a few days ago
Beautiful as hell, but yeah miss me at being out there lmao
NBA is making this about money (for the players) and not about history.
Jobs not done
That’s the appropriate level of enthusiasm this “championship“ deserves.
The in season tournament is dumb.who asked for it? I think it’s time for Silver to go.
No one gives 2 flying fucks about on nba cup
Why is it cool to hate on the Cup? genuinely asking. Because it’s a money grab?
It’s 19 degrees outside. ❄️
Harmless joke or you really trying to say something?
Wth is the point of the cup anyways? Just so that players who can’t win can put something in their hall of fame resume? “Bron got a cup and Jordan don’t” type of argument?
For fun
Thought this cup didn’t matter
Who gives a shit about that stupid title.
Knicks fans want a real title
lol this is so funny
hahahahahaha
The tournament doesn’t mean a damn thing, it’s just another paycheck for players. Why would anyone care?
Hot take: I enjoy watching my team win things
That’s great, glad you enjoyed it. Go flex the only trophy since the 60’s lmao
Always the no flairs with the worst shit talk attempts
is there another trophy to speak of? Correct me if I’m wrong.
