When the salary negotiations spill on to the court
I appreciate that the funniest moments in this podcast are when these guys are clowning on themselves. Nice change from the rest of NBA media getting clicks by looking for new names to knock down a peg.
He clowns himself so much that sometime Jeff makes it seems like he wasn’t deserving of being a starter lol
Legit. He’s so unassuming you’d have no idea that guy was in the NBA.
Not just in the NBA, made an All-NBA team, won a ring, and started for many years
The vast majority of NBA players don’t have that successful of a career
When did he make an all-nba team
he didn’t, he was an all-star 14-15
A lot of people don’t wanna be the guy that only gets ONE All-Star appearance.
All of those people are fucking idiots lmao
Dude above you is making a joke: that’s what demar said on a podcast with Teague (not realising he was describing Teague)
https://youtube.com/shorts/YQ2g7_rr-m8?si=-Q8xrWkfvQKpnAYP
Ah fuck lol
Yeah, getting no all star appearance seems much better…
Jeff Teague type dude
gave you an upvote just cause people here are not getting your Demar joke and just downvoting you
They make fun of that too! The podcast about him going home and playing 2K after they won the title is hilarious.
And talks about when he was ready for his time when it came. How Damien Wilkens saved his career by forcing him to work out with him. And fining him $500 every time he didnt show up. Telling him one day your times gonna come and you’ll be ready bc he wasn’t getting NBA minutes, then Kirk Heinrich got hurt in the playoffs and he took over.
misinformation
Egregious! Outrageous! Ridiculous! Ludicrous!
The man was never All NBA and he averaged 2 ppg in the playoffs for his ring.
Last part of your comment is still true but come on man lol
Stop booing this man hes right
Apparently Jeff Teague has a lot of fans lol
If you never knew him as a player his podcast would have you thinking he was Brain Scalabrine at best.
I mean, he got a whole shitload more than $32m/4y so he definitely had the right idea.
yeah CJ was generous not to bring that part up lol (106 million for 4 years)
Had em in the bag
Got the bag with him in it.
$8 million per year is so much less than we actually signed CJ for that we may have been able to build a super legit team for Dame with the remaining money lol. That could’ve bought us two Jeff Teagues (though realistically half a Jeff Teague with how Olshey negotiated contracts).
The ET and Allan Crabbe contract were so egregiously horrible and i actually really liked both those players.
Its even worse when you realize Neil Olshey had to pivot to Evan Turner after Chandler Parsons turned him down.
Teague is hilarious
His personality is legit perfect for the role.
There’s so many athletes now that are trying to have podcasts but completely lack the charm, charisma, and ability to keep the conversation flowing. So many of them either want to dominate the conversation, boast about themselves, or are just totally dull.
He’s out of your league
If you hear CJ talk he has an incredible business mind for salary negotiations, understanding how to play & fit on a team and maximize a contract. He is apparently relaying that information to the young NBA players willing to listen so good for them
You don’t become president of the NBPA by being bad at contract negotiations that’s for sure
As a Wizards fan I would like him to also relay how to put the basketball in the hoop
He’s not a miracle worker
He’s trying Jennifer
CJ is a really smart dude in general. Very likeable too
He said it in this clip he would look up salaries and stats on hoopshype
Good negotiation skills
CJ just said nah we ain’t on the same level buddy
alright that’s hilarious
Fr who is his agent, true ball knowers know he eradicated the middle class in the NBA
Athletes, especially pro athletes have the funniest stories. I played D1 hoops and to this day, when I get with my former teammates, the hilarity never ends with the stories.
I hate the era of everyone having a podcast and having a mic in front of them
But Teague’s shit is actually funny lol
He tried to talk like CJ 😂
Is Teague this generations Barkley when it comes to post ball media?
Best storyteller in the game
I mean they can laugh all they want but the only people on the earth who think Jeff Teague and CJ are on the same level are in this clip.
Nice
The cj impression 😹😹😹
Urkle negotiating skills. Bring that big brain to the table.
Only one guy on here is an all star. Insane.
Born to hoop forced to write JS loops.
CJ is always a bitch he fucked up the middle class nba player salary so hard to stop the warriors when he was the player union head. Fuck him
The second apron penalty made it so no one is getting paid now unless your a superstar max player
As I mentioned above, do you really think he came up with the idea for this and lobbied for it all by himself? He was just the figurehead. This falls at the feet of the union at large, their lawyers, the board of directors, and executive director. You’re very much overestimating his influence.
He really believes that nonsense
Nah, CJ is clearly looking at the financial incentives and legal implications on his flight between games and drafting up his contracts on his phone.
Poor Jalen Green only having a 3y/\(105m contract )': Woe is Christian Braun signing a 5y/\)125m extension as a 4th/5th option D’: Won’t somebody please think of Jalen Suggs and his paltry 4y/\(123.8m extension with a \)26.7m team option in the fifth year?
All these broke boys just can’t catch a break.
Middle class NBA player is a wild sequence of words
I’d sign up to be a poor ass NBA player
Bruh look at their contracts and tell me no one is getting paid
Role players are getting PAID in this league
It truly can’t be understated how bad CJ McDoofus was bad for the Nba
Wtf are you talking about
I’m assuming he’s talking about CJ being the NBAPA president when the new CBA was approved
Putting the blame on him not people who came before him def a move.
or you know the actual voters (the players)
I think the reason why the cap situation is like that is due to CP3 changing the rules on what aged people can get max contracts. Which changed how people kept star players. Like CJ did the only logical thing, which was to stop teams trading for star players.
Yup
Lol seriously. Fuck is that dude on?
It’s a meme understanding of the CBA
Why was he bad?
The second apron fucks the bag for every nba player who isn’t worth the max
You think he came up with the idea for this and lobbied for it all by himself? This falls at the feet of the union at large, their lawyers, the board of directors, and executive director. You’re very much overestimating his influence.
CJ is just the player’s union president, he does not get to make decisions unilaterally. If NBPA agreed to it, that means the players overwhelmingly voted for it.
The players hate to admit it and im all for player empowerment but the Kyries, Hardens, KDs made the second apron a thing. They started pissing off management and the C Suite. They were terrible ambassadors for that movement as they have just abused it.
You cant keep tanking franchises while all the depreciating assets that were acquired to “win” essentially set a franchise back atleast 5 years and you just jump ship.
So?
Exactly
