[Highlight] The Timberwolves announcers are in shock, after Steph Curry was called for the foul, as Jaden McDaniels pulled Steph and threw him to the ground (with replays)
lol wow this is great to hear the wolves announcers also flabbergasted. Seen enough where usually the player is grabbing before he gets thrown down but yeah replays are bad haha
Our announcers are typically pretty objective. Wish I could say the same for yalls lmao
Yeah ours suck lol. My gripe is when they’re surprised opposing guys get career highs on us, as if they don’t get all their shots WIDE open because our defense can’t stop dribble penetration for shit.
Thing that annoys me about the Warriors crew is how often they complain about bad 3 point shooting luck. It was unceasing tonight.
It’s not luck when they’re not good shooters besides Steph haha, no one is consistent and our second best actual shooter who provides spacing is Post. Wish Seth got some PT tbh
Mines probably how our announcers sometimes are confused when Naz gets a stupid mental error foul as if he doesn’t do that constantly on defense. I love Naz but he’s good for 2-3 of those a game lol
Every team has that haha, that’s KAT and JJJ for sure
Ngl I don’t think warriors fans like them either. I like the hype they bring but yeah they’re severely lacking in objectivity
They’re not as bad as they once were. They’re giving Randall a ton of credit this game.
That’s true but they also called him a foul merchant when he was just getting fouls a lot. Referenced SGA
Bob is the worst and Kelenna is his perfect little yes man smh
Bob is toxic and Kelena is the sugar that helps him go down. Worst local sports announcer duo in the bay and it’s not even close.
I think Jim Pete’s been getting a little more homerish as the stakes have been raised (it’s easy to be objective when the games barely matter cause you suck), but he’s still fundamentally someone who tries to stay at least sane with his takes.
Jim Pete the goat
Simple as this.
The Giants have the best announcers in MLB
The Niners are above average
The Warriors announcers are straight ass
The sharks have the best announcers for their sport in the bay. I dont think you would find many hockey fans that would argue against Randy Hahn. Who also, is a major reason the sharks are a team
KRUK AND KUIP (and Miller)
I watch a lot of wolves and warriors games on lp and I def agree on both. I geniunely think the Warriors announcers is the worst in the league lmao. They’re just flat out biased toward the dubs on everything. Wolves guys are pretty good. Grady’s awesome. He’s even on espn sometimes
Wolves announcers are always reasonably non-biased as far as locals can be
The warriors announcers if that had been Draymond on Ant would’ve insisted he slipped
“He’s just so passionate and vital for this warriors team! Ant shouldn’t have been on the court!”
To their credit, last night they acknowledged the foul by curry on Donte.
But then again Donte was a beloved warrior at one point haha
Knicks announcers are like that too, I really prefer it that way. Like yes, root for the Knicks, but also be realistic about what’s happening
Bang!
Agreed completely. I can understand that they have an inherent bias, but any more and it becomes unwatchable for opposing team’s fans.
Like I want to hear some excitement for a great play made by my guys. Not just the announcers bitching that the refs should’ve called something there.
Worst officiated league in professional sports
Not that far from Spanish LaLiga football league actually
Kerr not challenging that stings
Not challenging that is almost as bad if not worse than the foul itself
These refs have been ass all game, NBA is the worst officiated professional sport
They don’t show the lead up but McDaniels was annoyed that Steph was literally lowering his right shoulder and completely pushing it into him before the ball handler even got to mid court. Kept doing it and continued pushing thru him while he was trying to go setup for a screen so he had enough lol.
One of the worst calls, but really one of the worst non-challenges I’ve ever seen.
Kerr hadn’t seen the video yet. He couldn’t tell if the code had been broken or not
Had me in the first half i wont lie
Amongst men, you don’t challenge it out in the open. You deal with it behind closed doors. That is the code.
never send da video
Send da code
There it is. Kindly accept my upvote.
Kerr is useless with challenges. Didn’t even end up using a single one all game.
Dude just wants to go home
This is just normal Steph whistle
Worst whistle of anyone averaging 15ppg ever
Jeff Teague woulda shoulder checked the shit out somebody over this lol
If he had that called against him, shit he might shoulder check the ref.
They are gonna challenge a foul like that unless curry is in foul trouble. There’s no free throws in play here.
You get possession of the ball if they rule it an offensive foul though. That’s a pretty big swing
Theres also like 30-40% chance they come back and say that Steph initiated the contact and the McDaniels action was after the initial foul. They literally invented a brand new officiating term in the past, “hot stove contact” to justify a botched call on him.
Not challenging it kills morale though. Imagine getting thrown to the ground and then getting called for the foul, and your coach won’t even challenge it. He had one good pissed off drive, but then he was off the rest of the quarter. It took him a while to get back on track.
Why would he challenge a play off the ball like that? Doesn’t really affect anything except for changing possession. Seems like a waste of a challenge a priori.
You get it back when you’re correct, and I’d be interested to see what the impact of a successful challenge had on the calls on the rest of the game in numbers. I see it often righting a lot calls down the line
And they almost never reverse these types of calls (off ball fouls). Even if what the offensive player did was egregious and a foul, there’s almost always some nominal contact before that by the defender that they can use to justify the call.
NBA has always had its problems with officials, but let’s be honest, officiating has been getting quite suspect ever since the betting ban was reversed. As obvious as it is, there’s no way that was getting overturned
if the ref didn’t see what happened then a no call is at least understandable i guess… but how in the actual fuck do you call a foul on Steph here? ref sees Steph on the floor and McDaniels standing over him and decides to call the foul on Steph?
Real question is how did Kerr not challenge that, it was so clear
guessing they didn’t have the replay on the ipad ready quick enough, but for a call like that Kerr’s gotta just challenge instead of waiting for the confirmation from the bench
True, kerr should’ve challenged it. Steph isn’t draymond. Trust your superstar
Steph’s outraged hands up but doesnt do the challenge gesture, he should’ve immediately done the twirl
I’m at the game, they showed the replay on the jumbotron before play began again. Ass all around
Really felt like everyone thought it was borderline flagrant against the Wolves, then on the overturn, Kerr wasn’t ready with an actual replay check to call for a review. Then you see how quickly play resumed.
The only thing I can think of is that the ref saw Steph kind of leaning into Jaden as he tried to move and then just…looked somewhere else, looked back and saw them both on the ground and didn’t realize what happened?
Idk, that was so laughably off
Both on the ground?
Sorry, meant tangled up
It looks like Steph was holding him a little bit on the upper arm, that reaction was much worse though. Could easily be a flagrant
”…I thought Jaden kinda yanked Steph Curry to ground.”
Kinda, yeah.
In Minnesota “kinda” can mean “absolutely”
Right lol. That meant he 100% yanked him down, we just don’t want to be too abrasive in our delivery.
Well, that kinda makes sense.
Minnesotan here. This guy is kinda right
This will explain everything: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oiSzwoJr4-0
I knew what this was before I clicked it, and I am not from Minnesota.
Great place, though.
lol wild this dude brings in billions of dollars and gets this kind of whistle when he should be getting protected to prolong his playing career.
He’s rarely gotten the whistle. He gets destroyed almost every time he drives the paint, scores, and even has to sprint back.
It’s pretty ridiculous for a guy with his career resume.
If Steph had the superstar whistle throughout his career, he would’ve averaged 30+ ppg throughout his prime, even with KD on the team.
If he got the SGA, Luka, Harden whistle for his career, he would have been averaging over 40/game.
The short superstar whistle run we saw earlier this season when he dropped UA, but we’re probably not gonna be seeing a nike curry shoe since it didn’t seem to materialize.
Steph with a Laker whistle might be the goat
It’s pretty ridiculous for… THE GREATEST SHOOTER OF ALL TIME.
Fixed that for you.
Haha I didn’t want to label him with such a basic skill, total one trick pony🤪
His handles are pretty ridiculous as well.
He’s quietly the 2nd best ballhandler of all time, now that he changed “ball handling” to include shooting off the dribble.
This is also why Kyrie is head and shoulders above guys like AI. He mastered both styles of ball handling.
If it makes u feel any better Ant is headed straight down that path. He doesn’t help himself tho by arguing so many calls that were right tho.
They don’t call as much on ant because he’s taller, built like hard hitting safety, and can elevate better than almost anyone in the league.
Edit: Ant is 40lbs(!!!) heavier than Curry.
When curry gets smashed and makes the bucket, there’s times I don’t know if he’s going to get up lol.
He goes flying into the crowd (after getting either bodied, hacked, or both).
I think the refs assume “Ant can take it” but I don’t know why they look the other way with Steph.
If Steph would exaggerate the contact and arm flail more he’d get a lot more calls. Got a lot of respect because he doesn’t play that way. When he drives, he’s trying to score, not get free throws
I mean, even if you don’t outright protect him, how about just a neutral fair whistle? This is insane lmao
It makes more sense when you remember the refs are old heads, who think the proliferation of the 3 pointer was a sin equal to eating the fruit, and directly blame Curry for it
bingo. i just made this same comment -> “one of the weirdest things about the NBA is that steph and bron were the two faces of the league for the past 15+ years, and the whistles they get could not be more different”
Notice how Steph and everyone looked up at the replay and the ref looked on the ground
If this was against FTA then refs and NBA would call flagrant 2, punish mcdaniels for 3 months
My guess would be that the refs union makes it’s protocol for them to never look up at the replays.
So u can’t high five but u can judo throw someone to the ground. This is what the league wants
High five isn’t a sport but judo is
Pft…. Somebody hasn’t heard of the Himalayan “Highest 5 World Championships”. It’s where all the best talent from the Scandinavian Skin Slapping League Compete for their version of the World Cup. Get some culture in your life man… (/s)
Now imagine the refs calling Shai for a foul like this.
It. Would. Never. Happen.
McDaniels would get tossed for this shit.
It’s was more of a wrestling arm drag
Must have an IQ under 50 to be a nba ref
Well a lot of the refs are ex-cops soooo……
When you can’t play, you ref.
When you cant read or write, you ref.
When you can’t, you ref
I thought Warriors fans were just biased when they complained about Curry’s lack of whistle, but they may be right.
Welcome to reality, friend
League has to nerf him
First time? That Houston series last year was absolutely terrible to watch
I only pray they let Amen guard Shai like that, would make for a hell of a series with the dorture chamber on the other side.
Amen is going to foul out in the first quarter of every game lol
Idk what to tell you man he’s fouling out in the first half
Nah the refs consistently treat steph like shit; its really sad to watch
The fact that it’s bullshit like this that finally makes fans believe of us is insane lol
“Hot stove contact” is still the most outraged I’ve ever been over a call.
Coincidentally against the Timberwolves as well lol
Whats wild is i saw something like hes been in like all of the last 15 highest rated games for the NBA. Always Xmas day. Always prime time. Just a cash cow and they still give him no love. Austin reaves an undrafted player (really good player yes) has 50x the whistle steph does. I really wanna know why steph gets a crap whistle
I’m not anywhere to being a Warriors fan yet two of the biggest reasons I don’t watch their games are Draymond existing and Steph’s whistle is too much of a frustration for entertainment content.
Adam Silver’s NBA
The Fanduel Era
His first game back after an injury btw💔💔
Did he get hurt on this play? Just turned on the game
Nope
I think he got injured vs. the Rockets, trying to play through the injury, limping
when even opposing teams are shocked at the whistle steph gets you know it’s shit
Refs are absolute garbage 🗑
It’s realllly making hard to enjoy the sport :/
Interesting altercation. Interesting call. Interesting indeed
How does this exist in the same league as the SGA/Luka foul baiting? It’s like two completely different sets of rules
Because it’s Wardell Stephen Curry 😔
Because it is.
The NBA has no system in place to train up future NBA refs. They’re not partnered with the NCAA or anything like that. They just hire new refs, with no consistent criteria for what makes them hireable, have them train with a reffing crew as a fourth ref for about a season, then put them onto a normal crew.
It’s an absolutely garbage system which pretty much guarantees reffing will be inconsistent and heavily influenced by the crew chief rather than everybody working towards a consistent across all games interpretation of the rules.
Absolutely trash system that Silver has zero plans to ever improve.
I love to hear from the ppl who say curry never gets fouled after watching this
“what do u expect when he shoots so many 3s”
- average redditor
Nobody says that. They say he gets a shit whistle, which he absolutely does.
They do say that but in every thread where that is said, there are the ppl who come in and claim he’s not actually getting fouled after
“it’s payback for all of the moving screens Draymond gets away with”
I do see a lot of “warriors fans complaining about calls? That’s rich hahaha” even tho even during our dynasty peak, we never really got that much of a favorable whistle. (Besides a couple isolated absurd ones like kd running out of bounds)
That kd one probably attracted a lot of hate tho.
that bald refree made sus calls all game long.
this happens when big name player sits out and people bet on other team (ant in this game).
I cant prove it but I m %100 sure some refs are getting paid by vegas.
The most logical call as a ref really is calling a foul on Jaden or giving this a no-call.
Calling this foul on Steph (moving/illegal screen maybe?) is pretty wild.
Steph was definitely moving - because Jaden threw his ass to the ground. What a fucking joke. Steph deserves better. He deserves the benefit of the doubt for everything he’s done for the league.
Adam Silver is an ungrateful POS. Hes lucky Steph is around his time as commish.
I’m tired of that commish.
This can’t be a no call. Jaden threw Curry to the ground for no reason.
It’s 100% a foul on Jaden, but if you haven’t seen anything, don’t have the angle to judge… you don’t call anything.
But no… they default on calling it a foul on the defender, who happens to be face down on the ground.
Lol that’s awesome commentary. They’re totally bewildered instead of being delusional homers
That’s pretty standard for them tbh. They are probably top 5 for home announcers in the league.
Top 2 if Grady is there
Crazy the whistle difference steph has to these other stars
League won’t be happy till he’s injured…
If you don’t like that then you don’t like basketball!
*NBA basketball
Adam silvers basketball
It’s like malpractice. How can you be this bad at your job, everyone knows it, and yet nothing can be done about it
This is literally his whistle every night. He’s like the #2 in jersey sales right now and he just gets demolished every night.
Timberwolves announcers actually one of the better local announcers out there along with the Pistons and the Knicks. Very objective and easy to watch / listen to their games.
Warriors on the other hand, are just blasting propaganda on TV… lol
Also, that was a bullshit foul call and Steph should berate the coaching staff for not challenging.
I had the Hornets game on earlier, and I wasn’t paying close attention but man that guy who isn’t Dell was hyped! I don’t know if I could take that for 82 games - and I don’t know how Homer is takes are, but it was fun energy in a close game
Kerr didn’t challenge?
Gotta get ejected Steve you just gotta
I absolutely hate how little passion Steve shows for how badly Steph is treated by refs. Like if you’re not going to challenge at least throw a fit to get them to review it for a flagrant.
Or at least fucking challenge it.
Brought to you by DraftKings
Reminder that Steph with SGA’s whistle is the GOAT.
I was not even a fan of steph for his peak years but with SGA whistle we wouldn’t even have to have another GOAT conversation ever again
STG if someone did this to Shai the refs would come at them with a steel folding chair.
Refs are 100% gambling or directed by the gambling ring
If Steph or Joker had the whistle sga or Luka has the league wouldn’t know what to do smh
Steph would average 40 a night. And he should. He gets fucking murdered all season every season and doesn’t get the calls as he should
At some point you have to be willing to forfeit a game. What we’re seeing in the NBA, NFL, and CFB this year warrants at least one or two teams forfeiting games out of spite. It’s fucking ridiculous.
This is worth a review for a flagrant ON MCDANIELS yet Curry gets called for the foul. Fuck you NBA.
one of the weirdest things about the NBA is that steph and bron were the two faces of the league for the past 15+ years, and the whistles they get could not be more different
Refs r terrible wtf
All that and Trayce looks like a bitch. He did nothing to even challenge McDaniels for doing what he did? Draymond might be a douche but he woulda absolutely stood up to McDaniels for that shit
Im sorry, if kerr is not challenging it I’m gonna catch a technical. Wtf was that call….I really do wish that refs (in all sports) would have to do a press conference after games, or at least have some sort accountability, like wtf was that
It simply has to be deliberate. There’s genuinely no fucking way it isn’t on purpose. I mean look at this shit dude.
Best player ever to walk on the court is officiated by guys who take orders from Joe Dummars, who could play but is one of the worst corporate leaders in the business
I mean, Jaden is pretty good but you should see Ant play
This is why the NBA is so weird to me because guys be getting heated over nothing but when someone fling another player to the ground there’s no reaction
Curry was literally holding that man’s arm he had to toss him to get him off him
Yeah, I’m not sure what everyone is watching. This sub tends to favor emotion over logic though.
Well maybe the ref is a therapist and he was just demonstrating ‘gaslighting’ to a patient idk
The most disrespected and least protected mega superstar of NBA history. Adam Silver and the refs have always had an agenda against Curry.
That’s crazy and I’m a wolves fan. lol
I still love Jaden though.
Someone check those prop bets.
damn he really does have the worst whistle in the NBA
Y’all funny. Steph initiated the contact and if Jaden doesn’t toss him the foul becomes clearer. Answer. Common foul- Curry. Technical foul -McDaniels
Best announcing crew in the league
Where’s Draymond when you need ‘em.
Where’s Draymond when you need him..
Refs should be the face of the NBA. shameful
Refs are paid but not by the NBA lmao
If this bullshit doesn’t show you how fucking ridiculous the contact against Steph is then I don’t know what to tell you.
Least respected SUPERSTAR in any sport ever across all species to have ever existed
Warriors is not even a top contender this season and these ref treating him like this. Just crazy.
This must be one of the worst referee calls I have ever seen.
Jaden McDaniels is a dirty piece of shit. This is what he does all game every game. He isn’t a great defender - he gets away with more shit than most players.
ah nothing gives me more trust in a league than the replay sponsored by a fucking betting app.
Professional sports are entertainment not true competition. Refs have always been able to pick winners and losers but now that gambling is literally advertised during commercial breaks the outcomes are all but planned ahead.
Good call ref
Fanduel logo before the replay is peak comedy
he used judo on him lol
NBA refs are the worst in ALL of sports.
bro whats the point of having a challenge if you wont use it to absolutely embarass the refs for free???????
Star players should honestly just walk off the court and call it a night much more often when this kind of shit happens
