Lowkey one of the most disrespected players relative to what he’s done the last few years

I’ve seen so many people in Brunson vs. Cade debates talk about “well Cade’s defense and size translates so much better to the playoffs I’m taking him you can’t win a championship with a guy like Brunson” despite Brunson having the far better playoff resume lol

Brunson over the past 2-3 years has pretty much objectively been around a top 10ish player in the regular season and probably closer to top 6-7 in the playoffs in terms of overall production he’s averaging like ³⁰⁄₇ in his playoff career with the Knicks

Brunson has played Donovan Mitchell (2x), Tyrese Maxey and Cade in the playoffs

Beat them all and out played the all

FYI Maxey was already an All-Star and the way he won the s playoff game proved he was peak then

Just saying the argument for best guard in the East doesn’t change untill they show up in playoffs

Ok tbf to Cade he’s only been in the playoffs once. I’m still taking Brunson all day (I’m definitely NOT biased) but comparing Cade’s playoff resume to Brunson’s at this point in Cade’s career doesn’t make much sense

Yeah it’s not that Cade is overrated but more that it feels like Brunson has to do more to prove himself than a lot of other players do to get similar levels of praise

Mitchell might be the better comparison to use here than Cade in terms of someone of a similar age to Brunson that has played him in the playoffs twice on completely different teams

I can’t lie, in terms of regular season production, Brunson isn’t all that impressive relative to guys like Cade, Maxey, Ant, Donovan. His games are a lot quieter and ho hum, and those guys are liable for explosions. But in the playoffs, it’s Brunson over everybody except the top 5. Nobody else is consistently averaging 32-35 ppg on good efficiency like that.

He’s one of the best playoff performers this decade. He’s number doesn’t pop this season like others because he’s playing more of a team game then dominating the ball like other top stars. Best believe his game will elevate come playoff time.
