As a dad, that feeling when your kid wraps their arms around you and puts their head on your shoulder is everything. Jamal is 100% living the best life in this moment.
The fondest memories of my kids was the transfer from the car seat to their beds.

Same with my little sister, when we were kids and she would fall asleep watching a movie, carrying her to her bedroom felt so sweet. Man now I’m gonna tear up, I should call her more.

Iām happy to have discovered r/daddit early on in my adventures in dadding. A lot of older kid dadās have implored new kid dadās not to take any of it for granted and be as present as reasonably possible. Words of wisdom.
Yeah my little dude is basically attached to my hip when heās not at school or practice or his momās and heās 7 next week (donāt worry heās still incredibly independent and not coddled). He still grabs my hand to hold whenever we walk anywhere and every time it melts my heart.
He is not only my son but heās my best friend. I donāt know what the teen years will bring but for now Iām enjoying every second.
In this exact same situation by with my 4 yr old daughter. Itās the absolute best.
Same with my 5 yr old daughter. Hope it never ends but I know it will.

We just had our first in October. He just entered his smiling/cooing phase and its ridiculously cute until you’re trying to get them to go down for their nap and all they wanna do is look at you and smile
Enjoy! I tell all soon-to-be dads that those first couple of nights youāll have some scary thoughts, like āI regret thisā or āI canāt do thisā because of how sleep deprived youāll be. The first couple of weeks with a Newborn is super hard because they only sleep like 30 minutes at a time so youāre up all night.
But it gets better really fast as they start sleeping longer schedules and a pattern emerges. And then itās the best time do your life, enjoying snuggles and bonding with your baby. Itās so worth it.
The feeling of their sleepy head slowly drop into your shoulder and falling asleep is simply incredible.
When I felt like I had nothing it was those moments that brought me back to reality
Iāll take that feeling with my kids any day of the week over the millions of dollars
(But having both would be super duper nicer if I had any basketball talent whatsoever)
I tell people this all the time. The toddler flop is my favorite part of being a dad. For all the things I do for raising my kids, if all I got back was the way they cuddle me, it would be enough.
Itās so wild how they can spend so much of the day playing like theyāre your adversary, pushing your buttons, testing boundaries, asking for something specific and pulling a 180 moments later (āI donāt want thatā), being a total contrarian (ābecause I want toā) and trying aaaaaall of your patience. And then at the end of it all as the day winds down, theyāre expecting that bedtime hug + kiss + āI love youā before shutting off for the night.
Just gotta be able to keep your cool through it all and the payoff is more than money could ever buy.

Their kid power is incredible. Can be absolute demons all day, but when they put their arms around you for a hug…BOOM, all worth it would live that day again.

My kid is six. Infant was by far the worst stage for me.
Huh? I have a 2 year old and still get a full night’s sleep. I mean sure I worry about things when she’s sick etc but it’s not keeping me up at night.
Getting accustomed to sleeping 4-5 hours a night years before I had my first kid a couple months ago worked in my favor. He’ll be 8 weeks tomorrow and everyone’s always shocked that I don’t look completely run down. We do get lucky, he tends to have anywhere between 3-6 hour stretches at night before waking to eat so that helps until he eventually regresses.
It sucks to do, but once they hit about 1 years old be ready to sleep train it’s such a life saver to not have to wake up in the middle of the night every night once they’re old enough to do it.

I think that people should first really consider whether they can give the kid everything it deserves. So many people fail to consider that. I can not give a kid the life it deserves, so I did not get kids. I do get a lot of love from my godsons though.
Seeing videos like this always makes me want a kid cause of those moments but then I remember how much I enjoy having the extra free time, money, freedom, etc. and I’m like nevermind I’m good.
Go for it. Personally I am happy with being the fun uncle, more sleep and a full bank account.

Yeah I think he finally realized that as a point guard he needs to play a few pounds lighter than he has been coming into the season. His instinct has been to bulk a bit so he could bang around but it seemed to me that he was also slower. Cutting has seemed to help his quickness so itās easier to initiate the offense because he can actually get by dudes again lol

Forgive my boomerism, but why is it so important to point out when someone is a āgirl dadā or a āboy dad?ā To me, youāre just a dad. You have a job to do. Sure, the way you raise your children might be different based on their sex, but I never really got the need to specifically point out if their children were boys or girls.
