Derik Queen: “Someone said that next class is gonna be better than us or that’s the best class. We’re definitely the best class. Up and down the charts we’re gonna be the best class. We have the better players”
Derik Queen getting out in front of it and having his GM’s back
That trade may actually be looked at as a great deal, retrospectively.
If the FO really believed in him being an All-NBA type player, that’s definitely worth 2 firsts
I didn’t see why they were so high on him, but honestly after their game last night vs the Spurs I can see now why they did what they did. He’s a little undersized but he’s crafty, a good passer, and has pretty good feel for the game. He plays kind of like a mix of Draymond and Jokic.
If he develops his jump shot he will be a serious problem.
People say this about half the rookies every year šš
Because it’s a vital part of a young players growth and the difference between wasted potential and a successful career.
It’s not some baseless overused analysis, basketball is not rocket science lol. If you can put the ball in the cup real good then you get paid
Edit: I am so sorry that I suggested a promising young player with a great skill set should develop their shot. I realize the error of my ways and I will go read the theory of relativity so I can come up with better basketball insights.
What percentage of players actually develop a shot who don’t come into the league knowing how to shoot? Its quite rare.
LeBron, kawhi, brook Lopez (unclear if he developed the shot, or he could shoot the whole time but didnt shoot early on because the 2010s era bigs were not shooting 3s)… off the top of my head. Its a very rare group of players.
You ain’t wrong tho!
I get what you are saying. But I do think a lot of players can go from bad to serviceable.
Iirc, the broadcast last night said Queen was shooting 11% from 3 on the year. That’s obviously atrocious, so he just needs to get around even like 30% and that could make a huge difference. To take it a step further, even just a solid mid range game could open up the floor for him with how good a finisher and passer he is.
Thanks for giving an actual reply and not insulting me lol
Yea hes been a revelation for sure. If he is the real deal, then he’ll definitely develop it. It will he funny if he actually becomes a top 10 guy and Dumars is vindicated.
doesnt matter what the percentage is we’re talking about being the best which is always a rarity to begin with.
Lonzo Ball is another great example, he changed his whole shot mechanics to become a better shooter.
enough to be significant. Aaron Gordon’s another good example. think he went from averaging 28% to 43% from 3, similar free throw improvement, but im pulling those number’s out of my memory’s ass.
It’s a make or miss league. If Jokic couldnt shoot at all levels, he would be a great player. But he can, so instead he’s like the best player of all time lol
Ball in hoop good
If you score more points than the other team then you win the game type analysis.
Sorry I didn’t know you needed a PHD in physics to analyze basketball.
Gregg Popovich had this philosophy. The game is not some complex equation.
No you did good kid, is your apartment really purple tho?
Was just a randomized name but coincidentally purple is my favorite color. Maybe one day
Ok yeah sorry to bother you then
The point is if my grandma had wheels, she’d be a bike.
I mean not every player with a good jumper automatically becomes an all star.
It’s about the combination of all the skills they possess. So if someone has all the tools like this kid, that shot is gonna take him over the top.
I was not trying to make some groundbreaking comment. It’s just objectively true for this young man.
This sub is so silly sometimes lol
if your grandma had wheels, she could own a car. if your grandma had wheels, she could be in a wheelchair. if you had the ability to speak, you still wouldn’t be smart. like what are we doing here?
But in this case it’s pretty critical
Without being a threat from 3 Queen will be an undersized tweener with some nice skills and maybe a good glue piece on the right roster vs someone you build an entire offense through.
Nah sorry according to this sub we are the equivalent of basketball simpletons because you have to use calculus equations to solve for the best fit trajectory to make a jump shot
Lmao, this sub is just filled with haters tbh
It’s said about every single player that doesn’t have a good jump shot out to the three point line. Even older players. “He’d be able to stay in the league longer if he develops a good three point shot.”
Derik Queen is already a good free throw shooter. If I remember correctly, that usually correlates to if a rookie will end up being a good shooter or not.
just like ricky rubio
what if Ben Simmons could shoot?
Queen’s a good free throw shooter and has a decent mid range jump shot. Coming out of college he was billed as a guy with the potential to develop a somewhat reliable three point shot in the NBA. This isn’t a “if only this non shooter could be a good shooter” situation.
He’s got a midrange but not a 3pt shot as of now. His FT% is pretty good so extending that range seems attainable. It’s probably just going to be a “if you leave me here by myself I guess I’ll shoot it” kind of shot though, forcing them to guard him.
But the issue is even if that premise is true, the FO should’ve gotten the deal done but with protection on next year’s draft.
How do you know the other team would have accepted that? Were you in the draft room? Itās possible this is the only way for it to be accepted
Maybe you’re right, but it was such a lopsided deal if ATL didn’t do it, I think high likelihood some other team before ATL would’ve done it.
Story is other teams were offered a protected pick, and declined. Atlanta recently hired a former NOLA front office guy who knew how much the liked Queen, and Atlanta whittled NOLA down to no protections
Wow thanks for the info! Props to ATL for driving a hard bargain
Is there a source on this?
I heard it on the locked on hawks podcast from a super legitimate source, Brad Rowland iirc
Considering the lore reported from multiple sources is their GM called back convinced he must have had a brain fart and missed the protections on the pick, it seems clear that had Dumars pushed even a little he could have at least go SOME protection
Signed Pels fan of over a decade, sadly.
bc the hawks called them back 3 times and asked if they forgot to add pick protections
“No, no, no. Everyone on reddit said I could get your pick even if I had top 3 protections on our pick!”
Reddit knows because…..
They traded the Pacers 2026 unprotected pick for the 23rd pick in the 2025 draft, 5 days later Hali tears his Achilles.
Then on draft night they trade 23rd pick and whichever is higher out of there’s and Milwaukee’s pick to move up to 13.
Queen may wind up being very good but there’s not a chance it’s seen a great deal lol
Add in they could have just taken Queen at 7, so he and Fears both likely have to pop for it all to play out favorably. Either that or they need to actually start winning a few games this year.
Pacers pick was not unprotected. Itās only unprotected now because we traded it back to the Pacers. Anyways if Queen turns into an All NBA player which is looking like a real possibility nobody cares
What were the protections on it
If they get an all star caliber player who buys into their org itl be an easy worth.Ā
there’s and Milwaukee’s
a) *theirs
b) good thing for them, BOTH of those picks are gonna be great!
What will always make the trade bad is that the Pelicans didnāt need to give up as much as they did. The Pelicans might not care that the trade was bad if Queen gets good enough, but that doesnāt change the trade quality.
How do you know that? Were you in the trade negotiations?
Jeremiah Fears went number 7 to the Pelicans. Since they could have just drafted queen at 7, for the trade to have been beneficial both Fears and Queen would have to be better than whatever player they would have drafted next year. Still looking unlikely.
If youāre going to get that nuanced about it, then you have to consider the fit of Fears and Queen vs Fears/Queens and Mystery Player. Just saying.
No it wonāt. Because they could have protected the pick and the hawks still would have done it. Thats the issue
I actually was.
Not all firsts are created equal, and if that ends up being a top 5 pick then Queen needs to have an all NBA career. Even then it’ll still be argued the pick should have been protected
Would be really nice to add a top 5 pick to the young core of Queen, Fears, and Missi
i supported it at the time and am feeling vindicated, there’s no way a guy named “Derik Queen” wasn’t going to be great
Him being ALL-NBA wouldnāt be enough to make it worth it. Fears would have to be really good too. Because otherwise they couldāve just picked Queen with that pick instead and kept the one this year.
Not if one of the first is a player that comes next year and is better than him. Plus everyone knows that Atlanta would have done the deal with some protections. They were literally stunned it was unprotected and asked several times to make sure.
That first they gave up is gonna kill him. If they were so high on him why didn’t they take him at 7 (I get that Fears is good) but risking a potential top 5 pick is a little rich for my blood.
this trade will never be looked at greatly bc it would have gone through with top 5 protections. the hawks called the pelicans back 3 times asking if they were sure they didnt forget to add protections. even if queen is awesome, its still terrible asset management all around. you then add the fact they bailed out the pacers as well.
They couldāve gotten Queen with the #7 pick (Fears) and still have their lottery pick next year.
That trade is still not great, retrospectively
I donāt understand why they didnāt just take him at 8. What type of evaluation did they have on Fears then? If they considered him to be more valuable than a guy youāre willing to give up those picks for
Queen could be an MVP and trading an unprotected would still be a bad move
I really want to see this kid succeed.
Heās a center getting 30pt triple doubles 20 games into his nba career.
Iād be shocked if he didnāt succeed. The man is a BALLER, and people are vastly underestimating the pelicans because of their record and roster situation with Zion.Ā
Queen, Murphy, and Fears are an incredibly high-upside young trio. (Murphy isnāt that young but the all-star leap is close)Ā
He’ll succeed as long as he stays healthy. Hopefully the Pels injury curse doesn’t get him.
That trio is really talented, but I struggle to see how you could ever build a playoff level defense around them.
Iām not saying he is ever going to be JokiÄ, but having a playmaking 5 like Queen opens up an offense so well that holes can be patched. A strong rim protecting 4 like AG along with the already elite defense of Herb Jones, and I think they get by fine.Ā
It sounds like he plays like Sabonis
Nah heās way more Sengun/Cousins than Sabonis.
To preface I believe in Queen
But to play devils advocate, right around this time of the season 2 years ago Jordan Hawkins had a 34 point game and beat Kyrie Irving in a back and forth shoot out to defeat the Mavs in a game Zion/BI/CJ were all out. People outside of the Pels fandom were making Celtics/Heat Ray Allen comps.
Which came after several 25+ point games so there was reason to be hopeful……Hawkins today? yikes
I do believe in Queen and don’t expect him to end up like Hawkins, but I do think I want to see how he looks when defenses truly start game-planning to frustrate and take things away from him. Hunt him more defensively.
As the pioneer fan of the āspooky young rosterā sometimes It works out and sometimes it doesnāt. Only way to enjoy your fandom on a bad team is hope for the future.Ā
This young core might have it, they might not. But itāll be fun to watch either way.Ā
I dont disagree
But It’s impossible not to be more of a cynic when I have seen this episode get repeated a dozen times over the years with my team.
It’s more that I just have enough experience with this cycle to know when and why to keep certain expectations in check.
And I absolutely cringe when I hear fellow Pels fans start declaring “we found our core, build around these guys!”
When that is exactly what has doomed us every time so far.
This franchise habitually attempts to accelerate it’s timeline and it’s destroyed every promising young core we’ve had going back to drafting AD when simultaneously they were rushing to rebuild around he and Eric Gordon.
As you say, the franchise just needs to ride the wave of a rebuild for once and actually let our young guys development play out before assuming the future and trying to win now.
I would love nothin more than to actually learn from small markets like OKC and trade some of our vets for picks, let the rooks play, then tank next season too and just grow with our young guys. If one of them evolves into a franchise team leader great, but don’t make moves until they prove that to be the case. That was critical flaw with Zion and AD.
As a fellow Pelicans fan I will say they did have something nice with AD and Boogie, unfortunately we will never know if it could have been competitive. Jrue, Rondo, Boogie, AD could have made some noise. Pels stay cursed.
Fair point
Injury curse killed it in the cradle but it did feel like they finally found a team that could have done real damage in a healthy 7 game series against anyone.
Was actually an interesting attempted foil for what GS was doing at the time.
Murphy isnāt that young
He turns 26 in June next year. Thats still pretty young.
Right bro is at the earliest stage of his prime lol heās a perfect fit moving forward and heās the perfect complimentary star next to any star with gravity
He may never need to be a good defender. Jokic is in top 15-10 all time talks without being one.
Whoās to say he canāt be at least a multi-time time all star?
I agree
I think the key with a hypothetical Queen led team is that you would need to find a Chet/Horford/Brook Lopez/Aaron Gordon type to fill in Queen’s defensive deficiencies while being a good fit offensively.
I actually think they have the embers of recreating much of Denver’s blueprint already with Fears, Murphy, and Herb. Assuming Queen can further evolve into being worthy of building around and they can find their Aaron Gordon but built for offsetting Queen’s deficiencies.
That said I don’t want them going out and making trades or trying to rush things.
Queen may never be that guy and Fears early success may be a fluke and his shot isn’t actually real. Worst thing this franchise could do is try and once again acclerate the timeline.
Didnāt he have 4 blocks last game?
Lol man is Hassan Whiteside an all time great defender? š
I think generally everyone does. No one clowns him for being picked where he was. The criticism is aimed at Dumars, and even so, we could all be wrong in 3-5 years if this kid is All-NBA level
The kid has proved Dumars right so far.
Lol regardless it was a shit trade. Couldve attached a player instead or add a protection. That shits gonna be a top 5 pick that couldve been paired with Queen and Fears
I love the generational warfare that he’s on right now. This is the second time I’ve heard him say: “fuck those picks” in regards to the draft pick that was traded for him.
Third, the first time after he was drafted, he said he beat all those guys in high school, so theyāre nothing to worry about.
Queen has the talent to be an offensive hub and it seems like heāll be the Pelicans franchise player. Iām just confused as to why they didnāt select him at 7th instead of Fears when you could have got him and another guard with the 23rd pick while still holding on to your 2026 swap
Well, it’s possible they like Fears as well
Whatās the logic in taking a worse player before the guy you see as your number 1?
The logic is you think you can get Queen later but Fears is now or never.
However, that still means they value Fears higher than next year pick, which probably will end up wrong.
Is he worse?
Fears is honestly having the overall better rookie season so far TBH, which isn’t a knock on Queen but a compliment to Fears
Queen seems to make headlines cause of the obvious mini Jokic novelty, but Fears has had the overall better season so far.
Has scored double digits in every game he’s played EXCEPT for 2.
Last 20 games he’s averaging 16-4-3 and 40% from three with 1.5 steals a game in 28mpg. A three point shot that was the huge ??? coming out of college and what would determine if he has a real future in this league.
Frankly the biggest thing holding Fears back right now is being more willing to let it fly from three when he’s open.
He is a bit too in love with trying to show off his Iverson-like quickness to embarrass people with a drive to the basket when he should just take an open three or punish someone going under a screen.
Needs to develop a two man game with Queen, especially off ball.
Watching the Pels has been hard this year but I feel like Fears isn’t getting enough love. His shooting and defense needs work but he brings an element of on ball scoring and dribble penetration that the entire roster lacks.
If he can develop a consistent outside shot, he could be an offensive terror for the next decade.
Fears isnāt a worse player. His potential is off the charts. Fun as hell to watch him play.
Theyāre BOTH awesome, and Pels did a great job drafting them. Super risky trade for DQ, but it may end up being one of the smartest trades. Time will tell. Dumars definitely looking much better in hindsight.
Itās not looking like a smart trade if the pels pick is top 5 which it very likely could be. They did made good picks with both spots seemingly so far but there were others ways they couldāve gone about trading up rather than give up an almost guaranteed lottery pick.
My thing is that the Pels have had pretty great talent evaluation regardless of the person at the top.
Demps got the credit but the team seemed to find diamond in the ruff players like no one’s business despite Demps trading away every draft asset the team didn’t hide from him.
Demps gets fired and Griff comes in and their scouts find Herb Jones in the second round, Nickeil Alexander Walker, Trey Murphy, Dyson Daniels, Jose Alvarado, Naji Marshall.
Griff gets axed and they still find Fears/Queen.
How much of that goes to the GM’s and how much to just having solid unheralded guys in the organization that know talent?
The thing I do know for sure though is Dumars/Weaver are the ones that baffingly failed to protect their pick for no reason and by all accounts truly believed this was a bubble playoff roster if Zion and Poole were healthy..,…not to mention believing Poole was an answer to anything.
This is revisionist history or hindsight bias if you think Queens was viewed as better than Fears at the time. Fears was mocked as a top 7 guy so NOP drafting him at #7 made a lot more sense than taking Queen who was mocked as a late lotto guy.
Queen also had mixed reviews about his motor level so it made sense that he dropped. NOP gave up too much in the trade but if they think they can motivate him and combine it with his ball skills, he could be a very good or elite offensive hub.
Thatās what I was thinking. Donāt get wrong, fears is good player but heās not a canāt miss prospect.
I would also say this if my org gave up what is looking like a top pick in next year’s draft to select me instead, kid is a stud regardless and this year’s class already looks amazing tbf
Well his hs teammates also went #1 & #29; and the younger brother of a top30-45 prospect in ā26 went #7 and is queenās teammate as well.
Given how Kon K, Harper, VJ, Cedric Coward Will Richard, and others have looked this year; he has a strong point
Jeremy Fears isnāt that high of a prospect. I doubt he enters until after fulfilling all 4 years in college.
The latter is possible; but he can definitely get enough love to leave a year early with a deep tournament run. Averaging 10 assists, 90%+FT, nearly 2 spg, 38% from 3 on a low clip. If teams kick themselves for not taking Nembhard; the similarities to Jeremy Fears Jr are numerous
Just TBC if the Pels and Bucks end up with bottom 4 record in the 2027 season though, which is looking actually plausible at this point, Pels keep their pick AND the Bucks pick.
So yeah, losing all picks in 2026 sucks, but if you end up with 2 top 4 picks in 2027 AND Queen/Fears are the real deal, I think the lack of protection fuck up from Dumars will largely be water under the bridge if they at least hit on 1 player in 2027.
a reminder to not tie the trade to derik’s individual accomplishments
Huh? How else do you grade a trade?
im specifically talking about derik. not braindead dumars/weaver who acquired him
This the type of energy we need in the league.
Historic draft class, heās not lying
Yas Queen
It seems like a lot of people are confused, Derik Queen was not traded 1 for 1 with the 2026 FRP, he was essentially traded for 2 first round picks (2025 and 2026)
Canāt wait to see. Feels like so many classes get hyped but this one has really proved it.
As hyped as the next one is itāll take a lot for it to be as good as this one.
I feel like I’ve heard that about a half dozen draft classes in the last decade or so TBH
And when looking back in hindsight it feels rare that the hyped classes actually deliver ala the 2003 class.
And often when one does live up to it, it’s because of guys that no one was hyping end up as superstars.
This class has to be the best one since 2003 imo.
Rookie vs sophomores bout to be lit next year
Bro they are 3-22. Enough of this reactionary nonsense.
Their record has nothing to do with the rookie draft class as a whole lol
Hawks fans take Queen balling out so personally. Sorry you traded away the new Jokic. Yāall gonna be remembered like the Hornets trading away Kobe or the Hawks trading away Luka
RemindMe! 10 years
We didn’t “trade away the next Jokic” we traded the pick not Queen, we were never going to select Queen and neither did the 12 teams before us so I don’t see how it’ll reflect poorly on us even if Queen is an all-star.
Hawks fans are rooting for Queen lol, we had a whole thread about him being a baller a few weeks ago. We’d love for him to be awesome while still getting a top 5 pick from y’all so at the moment we’re feeling really good. Still doesn’t make that deal a good deal though.
Sure hoss.
Love when a draft class just supports and unites with each to become great
Whole lot of people gonna start backtracking and move goalposts if thatās the case
That trade was malfeasance no matter how good Queen becomes.
No matter how good he becomes? Are you sure
yes because Pelicans could have taken Queen at 7.
is Fears better than a top 5 2026 pick and the 23rd pick in the 2025 draft?
Also feels like even with the trade they made, they could have gotten some protections on that pick. Would feel a lot better about it if they had a top 3 or 5 protection on it.
For real. Hawks for sure would’ve agreed to a lightly protected pick.
I mean, Fears looks really fkn good too bro. You watching him?
“trick question, it has nothing to do with Queen, it’s really how good Fears becomes!”
All of this wonāt matter much if he comes an All-NBA type of player
Of course it will. Because either way, they are still giving up a top 5 pick.
There is absolutely no precedent for giving up a top 5 pick to move from 23 to 13.
Thatās simply not true. If Queen is an All NBA player, heās well worth 2 firsts.
If they did their due diligence with scouting and thatās what they thought and what he becomes, its going to be look at as a good trade
Time will tell
No. Value given up to move from 23 to 13 will never add up. Even if Queen wins mvp.
That is maybe the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard
Maybe if you can’t isolate process from result. No matter how you slice it, the value given up to jump 10 spots up in the draft is mind numbingly dumb.
Let’s apply your logic to Jokic. Let’s say Denver gave up an unprotected pick equivalent of the Pels Bucks spot to pick up the 41st pick.
Jokic becomes exactly who he is now. It would still be a terrible trade.
It’s especially egregious as we could have taken Queen at 7. I think everyone is looking at it wrong. Fears has to be better than next year’s pick. Not Queen
Yeah Queen at 7 while you keep the best of the Pels/Bucks and Pick 23. Not even gonna dig em for trading into 23 with the 26 top 4 protected Pacers pick. Just taking Queen at 7 would have been enough.
How so?
Sure, if you bought Nvida stock in 2020 claiming it was gonna be GOATED in a few years you made the right call, congrats.
But if you also divulge that you paid 100 dollars a share in 2020 for it, you are also an idiot when the price was 15 a share.
Like sure, your prediction was accurate, you made a profit, but you overpaid and that delta on the overpay could have been put toward other investments to boost your overall ROI.
Dumars best hope is he is the guy that went all in on NVIDIA stock despite paying a stupidly high opportunity cost
We don’t know the market value at the time for what they needed to do to get Queen. Feels like an overpay but they clearly couldn’t get better, and if these two guys go on to start a dynasty it will come across as a positive, he was willing to be aggressive and do a net worse at the moment trade to get the guy he knew they needed.
I doubt it’s the case but let’s not pretend there’s not an ROI that makes this whole thing a non-issue. If he becomes an MVP it was obviously the right move
As a Pels fan that has followed this team for over a decade, we actually kinda do know
Multiple reports about the trade were that the GM called back Dumars thinking he just had a brain fart and wanted to confirm no protections on the pick.
Thats to say nothing of trading the Indy pick before the season ended and Haliburton went down.
Queen can turn into All NBA but it was still a bad process and unnecessary overpay that lowered the ROI Dumars could get with our assets. Sure, if Queen turns into ALL NBA paying 75 dollars for Nvidia stock stings less, but thats still money that you could have put toward other positive investments.
At the end of the day it comes down to the guys you got vs the guys you could have got. And if one side has an MVP I really don’t like the chances of the other side being better.
Nba needs to bring back rookies vs sophomores for next years ASB with this rivalry
Well, we really won’t know for like another 5 years at least lol
While I think Queen is an incredible player who has a bright future in the league, they couldnāt have traded ANYTHING else to the hawks to get that pick? Like literally anything. If they had done, itād probably be viewed as a massive win for the Pelicans. Now at best it will be win win.
A “A Generation Rivalry with only 1 year difference” thing would be incredible from the NBA writers.
W-We have a good offense!
The NBA is already absolutely flooded with talent and now these two draft classes are coming in…
It might be time to expand the number of all star selections going forward. There are going to be so many guys that are worthy of it.
Dude has a young face
And voice lol he sounds like a 15 year old
And his words sound like heās 15 too. Lots of growing up to do.
Luckily heās a beast
I think it was on twitter? somebody said
That was your first mistake
I think a cool all star thing would be a mini 3on3 tourney with the best 5 guys from each of the last 4 drafts on a team.
What I hate is everyone acting like the trade is a Pelicans L for sure…it’s too early to admit that the hypothetical 2026 pick is better than Queen. It’s honestly more likely that he isn’t. Queen has stood on business that he will be better than the pick and I believe him.
It’s still a L, what Queen become is totally independent of what was given up to move from 23 to 13.
Not true. If the trade was done before the draft began then yes, but it was done when the player they wanted was still on the board.
Doesn’t matter. The price paid to move up 10 spots is incredibly unprecedented and bad.
Here is another way to look at it. If the Pelicans shopped that same best of Pels/Bucks pick unprotected openly right now, what is the best thing they can get for it? A whole lot more than the right to go from 23 to 13.
The player they wanted could have been taken at 7 and they would then posses the single most valuable pick right now + the 23rd pick.
Its that player + Asa Newell. Asa would likely be a Pel if not for the trade + whatever the pick next year.
You know the class is great because Queen has outdone every expectation and heād still at best be the 5th guy taken if done again today. Iād personally still have Fears and possibly CMB but this class is as deep as it gets.
Doesnāt change the fact that next years class is also going to be insane.
I think he’s telling the truth, as Acs Bailey is from this years draft, and not next years
I would love to see this dude play with Ant. I think they would have great chemistry.
Heās right you know Morgan freeman meme
Best case scenario; these two classes mirror the 2017 + 2018 back to back.
But itās getting harder and harder to legitimately believe the next class will outdo this class
Honestly, next years draft class has big shoes to fill. But these 2 classes are making the future of nba exciting
Sidebar; bring back the rookie-sophomore game!
I like the confidence
Broās name is Dairy Queen
Quarter of the season in and still no DQ endorsement
If that pick was top 3 or even top 1 protected this looks like a stellar deal. As it stands though, Iām still not convinced
all i had to see was the maryland colorado game last mm and i knew he was gonna be good
Pelicans drafted well with queen and fears. They both are bringing something to the pelicans that was missing. Now they just gotta clean up a lot of dead wood.
Man stfu
Yeaaaaah
Will their names be correctly spelled?
This kid is nice!!!! If heās stays grounded we might have a star on the horizon
He’ll be Jahlil Okafor if he can’t improve his PnR defense.
Who cares
Sorry Derik but neither you or Fears are better than Boozer/Peterson.
This is a problem because your team is 3-22 and has the worst record in the NBA, and looks set to give one of those superstar prospects to Atlanta
Those two havenāt played 1 minute of NBA basketball and Queen and Fears have and have had impressive games. Weāve seen plenty of highly drafted kids not translate.
I will laugh at this take in a year.
What if the Pels pick turns into #5 or something
Then it would be a question of āis Queen worth more than Asa Newell + the 5th pick in 2026ā
Or why didn’t they have it top 5 protected
Probably wouldnāt have been accepted then
