I’m not saying the same will happen, but athletes heal faster than we do, and have access to medical technology we don’t.
That was genuinely a miracle and not the standard for even NBA players.
It was also the finals and he probably took a massive risk playing on it. He would have been out weeks if it was the regular season.
Difference is his risk paid off and it usually doesn’t.

Playing on a soft tissue injury is completely different to a knee hyper extension. If it bends backwards and doesn’t twist sideways at all you can sometimes get lucky. I’ve seen terrible ones in Aussie rules as well where they’ve ended up only being out a few weeks like Giannis. KD and tyrese are not relevant in this situation

I always wondered about that. For some reason everyone says it’s Paolo’s team but to me, he’s not a consistent enough shooter to be his team. I’ve been telling everyone it’s Frank’s team and everyone looks at me crazy. Is he not clearly the better player?

Last year Franz was only a marginally better shooter than Paulo. Franz is also a career 32.4% 3 point shooter.
I think the conversation of who is better now is fair, but people talk about Franz like he’s Dirk while Paulo has no shot. In reality theyre both below average efficiency scorers.
It’s the interior scoring where Wagner shines.
Franz is definitely the more complete player of the two. Far better shooter, better playmaker, better defender, overall just has a higher IQ for playing the point forward position. I love Paolo but his game hasn’t evolved as much in the past two seasons compared to Franz.
I know I’m in the minority here but I think Franz is our best player. I don’t think it’s by much. They’re basically 1A and 1B, but with the game on the line I want the ball in franz’s hands. It really comes down to efficiency and defense and that’s where Franz separates himself from Paulo
If you look at on/off net rating, Franz is clearly the best player, since 2022 :

Always unsettling to see these things, in any context, but especially when the guy who caused the injury just walks away la-di-da while the other guy is on the floor clearly screaming in pain.

As a football (soccer) fan, I’ve always wondered why basketball players never check if a player is okay or help him up.
You play to the whistle. It’s not like soccer where the game can continue without any stoppage for minutes. There will be a stoppage fairly quickly, a player will foul another player, or a ref will call for a timeout if it’s a really bad injury.

Honestly, I’ve seen way more guys showing concern than being indifferent. Both in real life playing from elementary to collegiate, and being a rabid fan since the 80s. Most of the players are good people.

It’s bad, but there is still hope that he just extended his leg awkwardly. It hurts like hell, but it doesn’t automatically mean permanent injury or tear. Worse is seeing someone go down without contact or landing awkwardly, this one was awkward so there is still hope. Fingers crossed.
Yea i had a really similar injury like this playing soccer. It hurts like hell when it happens and you can’t put weight on it, but after a day or two it feels a lot better. Best case he’s out for 3-4 weeks.

Hyper extension doesn’t normally tear anything fully, it’s just extremely painful because of the bones clacking together plus possibly a partial tear but that doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed done

I’ve hyperextended my knee a few years ago and I was fine after about a month, but it was indeed very painful and it just “feels” terrible because your knee is literally bending the wrong way for a second.
However I’m sure there are different severities to this kind of injury…

Finally got it together, two games out of second, had we kept rolling we are sitting in the top 3 seeds in the East by the All Star break. We were finally going to be a top team in the east.
The team weathered Paolo being out. I started to feel hope that they were turning the corner. I knew I shouldn’t have felt Hope.
