Love and Trust forever š„¹š«¶š»š
Might be my biggest sports regret that Smart didnāt win a title here.
Obviously I was happy we did it but it was bittersweet winning without him man
Yet*
Yeah.
I’m sure the C’s would’ve wanted him to stay but he just wasn’t delivering on the court. His defense regressed and his offense remained poor.
I think he had a questionable work ethic. The C’s have helped develop some non-shooters like D-White, Walsh, Grant, Horford become respected spot-up guys, but Smart’s shooting never really came around. And it’s not like he’s some low pedigree athlete, he was a top 6 pick. The fact that he’s never become a respected shooter despite relying on 3s so much is telling.
I think Marcus has always worked hard
Unfortunately I don’t think Marcus worked smart all the time. IMO, his diving for loose balls, putting his body on the line, wasn’t always necessary and likely destroyed his body.
To your point, if he invested more into practicing his shooting rather than those extra physical hustle plays, he might’ve had more in the tank.
Bullshit
Your brothers are always going to be your brothers. Great pic!
It says a lot about Smart the person that even right after he was traded, he still invited Brad Stevens to his wedding. Always a class act and happy to see old friends catching up after the game
I think Brad is pretty unimpeachable. I find it doubtful that anybody has a bad thing to say about him. My guess is he didn’t do what it seems like Ainge would do and quietly shop guys, even make trades for guys without ever talking to them. My guess is Brad had a really emotional conversation with Smart and let him know that he thought he might have to move him to make things work for the team. When you build up trust with someone, you can work through difficult things together. Brad is the best, we are lucky to have him running the franchise.
I donāt want to downplay Ainge either. He was instrumental and irreplaceable for this franchise and easily could have had a couple more Titles to his name without bad injury timing/luck.
But I agree, Brad has been amazing. Jrue and KP both said that Brad gave them the heads up about a possible trade and they appreciated knowing in advance.
You canāt always do this if itās a player you otherwise really want to keep, but get a possible offer you canāt refuse, but itās nice to know he has open communication with the players.
I think Ainge has a much different personality. He is a serious competitor. As a player, he was a total prick. I don’t think he is like some kind of terrible person, but I think if he heard something like, “Player X is upset you traded him,” his response would be a Mormonized version of “Fuck that little crybaby bitch.” Brad seems like the kind of guy who has stayed in touch with and in the lives of every player he ever coached. I think he is a massively influential human being in the lives of people he is around a lot and is a fantastic leader.
He hand picked that zoot suit to quietly say he is still a Celtic at heart
I really hope that he comes back to contribute to the organization in some shape or form eventually, miss Smart.
Iām not crying youāre crying
No I’m not. It’s just raining on my face.
It’s too bad he didn’t play. It might’ve been the first standing ovation for a Laker.
Rondo got one I think shooting the buzzer beater in 2019 or 20
I agree it might be so, so it is actually good he didn’t play lol

I still have irrational dreams of Marcus Smart and Rob Williams coming back to the Celtics to come off the bench willingly, and helping us get another ring
Heāll be back one day, I just know it. Christmas 2026 āļø
Smart looks like heās about to go down for a long winterās nap
In a different timelineā¦
Pajama day?
Iām wondering if weāll ever actually see Smart play the Celtics. Seems seldom since he left. Bro always just in street clothes when he comes to town.
