Through no fault of his own, those injuries and the timing if them suck. I’m hopefully that he can get back to his old self after another 2-4 weeks and he might earn himself some value, even if it’s not from the Pistons.

But yes Duren earning a bigger slice of the pie hurts Ivey’s chances of his own extension.

Regarding Ivey, it looks early to assess contract value. Every game, he seems to be inching toward closing games. He adds scoring punch and will likely settle into the rotation by the new year. He should be in rhythm around all-star break. That’s when I think it would be fair to assess his value.

Before his injury I think most would have predicted the opposite. Ivey was looking like an ascending star right before he got his leg broke. I have faith he will eventually come around and hopefully we can resign him at a lower number or a shorter prove it deal. It would be really sad for him to be the odd man out.

tbh I don’t really see the place for him on this team anymore, he’s the obvious guy to go if they want to make a consolidation trade (which they definitely don’t have to do, but if the right guy is available it’s worth thinking about)

A. Duren’s offense is way better this year, how much Pistons have you watched? He’s not as good as Sengun is now, but he’s really good and compliments Cade really well.

B. Duren is way better on defense than Sengun (and much improved this year) which is arguable more important as a center

C. Segun is underpaid, he should be on a max with his current production, one guy being underpaid doesn’t dictate that another guy should be paid less. Each guy and teams situation is different.

Yes he can’t shoot 3s and yes he needs someone to feed him the ball, but I wouldn’t really say that 19 PPG on 66% FG is limited offensive game

His offensive game is far from limited though.

Yes and no, his offensive game isn’t as limited as you think and he is taking big leaps in that sense.

He is also a year and a half younger and a crazy physical specimen that they would be investing in, not just the current product, but a ton more potential.

He compliments the Piston’s best player beautifully too, that matters. That said I think he would come in in the low-mid 30’s and Sengun might be a bit underpaid.

He’s averaging 19 PPG, man. 4.4 offensive rebounds a game and scoring over 40% of his own baskets. Yeah he can’t shoot, but he’s doing a ton on offense for the Pistons

That’s how it works with a rising cap and supply/demand. Sengun money is just a ballpark and it makes sense if he’s seen as the best available young center. He’s only 22 so it’s fully possible we haven’t even seen the best out of him yet. Sengun was quite limited defensively when he got paid, yet no one blinked about him getting the bag.

Also, I have now seen people say his offense is limited and also his defense is limited. Yet, all numbers and analytics suggest the team is better on both sides with him on the court. Admittedly I’ve watched very few Pistons games but from what I’ve seen, nothing suggests he’s bad on either end and he’s seemingly improving every season.

You could also flip it and say that it’s absurd he ends up with Jalen Green money, considering how the latter is inconsistent offensively and a turnstile on defense.

The offensive rating is 108 when he’s on the bench and jumps to 122 when he’s playing

+13.21 net rating when he’s on the court overall, -7.79 when he’s sitting

He’s worse than Sengun but the only centers better than him at this point are Jokic, Wemby, Sengun, Bam. Maybe i’m forgetting someone but he’s approaching top 5 center talks and he’s 22 averaging ¹⁹⁄₁₂ on 70% TS in 29 MPG
