As Michael Jordan walked into court for today’s proceedings, a fan was playing the Chicago Bulls’ into music.
Unprecedented level of trolling going on here
It’s hilarious but it’s the greatest intro for a team ever lol
“From North Carolina…”
At guard
Number twenty three
it’s 6 6 next
KENNNNNMMNNY OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMEEEEEEGAAAAAAAA
Lame.
I HEAR THE BATTLE CRY
6’6”
At witness number 6
That should be in Game of Zones (RIP). MJ at trial about knight’s horses with Pippen and Rodman as his lawyers. Rodman mumbling an argument, and grumpy Pippen sitting with the Jurors. Easter egg of Jokic being a stable master.
You should hear bayern’s goal music.
I wish they were able to play that when Barca were getting destroyed 8-2 but alas COVID
Best intro in German football got to be this: https://youtu.be/mxJGScfVOkQ?si=KnWLLUpoiwKGfMI_
I’m definitely biased but it actually is.
The year Ryan Helsley was the best closer in baseball his intro to this song went hard.
it’s like a cute little European version of VTech
Alan Parsons couldn’t begin to imagine what impact a throwaway instrumental track would have for decades after its release.
They play it right before the start of the Chicago Marathon and I gotta say it’s the music that gets me the most hyped, it turns it into like a spiritual experience.
You’re thinking of the Dallas Stars
EVER!
MJ is untrollable. It’s impossible.
The man has the worst fashion sense I’ve ever seen and he’s literally never given a fuck or changed what he’s worn. Definitely untrollable.
He’s the only man post 1945 to rock the Hitler stache in public without anyone really saying anything.
That Hanes commercial is a master class in cinematography
Michael Jordan has great fashion sense, it’s just stuck in 1988
May I introduce you to Timothy Theodore Duncan?
And you can’t troll him as well. He’s immune.
he’s been trolled at least once https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NpT1XFDjJKA
Nope. He’s on the same level as Carlos Ray Norris.
Impossible
This isn’t trolling at all. No way MJ is would be bothered by this. If anything it hypes him up!
Yeah why would this bother MJ? Probably gave him a rush of nostalgia.
Is this trolling? What would they even be trolling him for?
What’s the court case over?
Edit: He’s testifying in a NASCAR antitrust
23XI Racing are suing NASCAR over what they say is basically a monopoly issue. MJ’s team refused to sign NASCAR’s new charter agreement, claiming the system gives NASCAR too much control over revenue, race access, and team independence. They argue it squeezes smaller teams financially and limits competition, so they took it to court instead of signing.
So you are saying he took it personally?
He took it persuenally
Michael Jordan? Never! /s (just in case…)
I’ve never pictured a meme reading a comment so fast in my life 😂
https://imgur.com/rISoznf
Exactly lol
Money wise this isn’t even worth his time
It’s the principal of the matter
Underrated comment.
That really makes it much funnier/lighthearted that a billionaire is just suing to get more money, rather than it being a serious case like a murder trial
Eh its kind of a big deal in Nascar world. Imagine if the NBA withheld all of the financial information about the league from the teams and they had no understanding of how well the league itself was doing. Its not really just about money, the France family has absolutely run Nascar into the ground and i think people just want accountability.
Sure, but it’s not a coincidence that the $4 billionaire wants to extract more money from NASCAR.
I truly hope it results in a better outcome for the fans, but right now it’s just billionaires battling billionaires.
Most of the nascar team owners are not billionaires. Its been pretty unsuccessful.
God this place is exhausting. “Court sucks, the only way you could win against a corporation is to have a billion dollars”. “Lol, fucking billionaires suing billionaires. Who gives a fuck eat the rich”.
I’m more familiar with his AMA Superstock and Superbike motorcycle teams, but he’s definitely the underdog here. I know him being rich is not the point of your post, but that amount of money is nothing compared to a factory Ducati/Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki team (engineering, sponsorships). I’m sure it’s the same in Nascar.
Wait, what????
Are you claiming that a factory Ducati/Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki AMA superbike team is worth more than the estimated $3.8 billion that MJ is worth?
I truly cannot believe that.
The number #1 most valuable NASCAR team, Hendricks Motorsport, is valued at $315 million.
https://www.forbes.com/teams/hendrick-motorsports/
You think a Superbike team is worth more than 10x that?
TIL
Yes, Michael Jordan is a huge NASCAR fan who grew up watching races with his family in North Carolina and now co-owns the 23XI Racing team with Denny Hamlin, attending races, watching from pit road, and even testifying in an antitrust case against NASCAR. Childhood Roots: Jordan grew up in North Carolina, attending races at Darlington, Rockingham, and Charlotte with his family, stating he “grew up in NASCAR”. Lifelong Fan: Even before owning a team, he’d set his clock to watch races on Sundays, developing friendships with drivers and owners. Team Owner: He co-founded 23XI Racing with Denny Hamlin, fulfilling a long-held interest in the sport.

What the ChatGPT
So? It’s a tool to look up information. Information that’s relevant to the topic.
It often hallucinates information and misrepresents sources because it is mindless.
I wouldn’t put much trust in it. It’s useful for some tasks (generating some text, rewriting something, etc.), but for any in-depth research, I would mostly avoid it.
You really have to double-check everything it says, and if you do, you’ll often find serious errors or even complete fabrications.
Somehow lately search has become way worse for me, I spend more time searching and double checking than I used to. It doesn’t help when a lot of searches point back here
That’s not in depth research though
As opposed to redditor comments which hallucinate information almost all the time?
And? Here’s a tidbit and you can go factcheck for yourself.
“Here’s a tidbit from a notorious liar who has no rational brain. Go factcheck for yourself.”
I’ll skip listening to the notorious liar and begin by researching myself, thanks. Seems like a better use of time.
You’ve never used google before? Thought it was interesting to share with the class.
That’s google AI which hasn’t been around for 20+ years. Yes I’ve used the actual google to do my own research.
I mean so does chatgpt. It’ll read a million+ words, going thru every link all the way thru page 19 or whatever by the time youve read link 1. Im not saying you should just regurgitate its output verbatim like this dude is, but its a relatively competent research tool when used appropriately.
Yell at clouds if u want, but its just Michael Jordan’s history with nascar lol
And the man owns a team. There will be more than enough distinct, long-known information for it to get a passingly correct answer, at least to the level either of us care.
It’s a useful research tool. But it does not read a million plus words. If you ask it to link it reads like… a small selection of the top hits. Its contextual memory for information fed in is nowhere near 1 million.
Still great for like… an initial overview or to summarize sources but it isn’t scouring every single link possible. You still gotta do a lot of the work yourself to find any obscured information or connections which are more nuanced.
Nah it’ll do that if you hit the research button. It’ll read the main text of a couple hundred different links. Iunno what that equates to in word count. Surely not a million, yeah. But at the end of the day this question doesn’t matter that much, people just wanna be mad about ai
I mean, this is one reason why it matters.
Most search engines like Google promote sponsored results, but you can just scroll past those; once LLMs start doing that (seemingly very soon) things are gonna get real dystopian real quickly. People who already blindly rely on AI to do research for them will just be getting programmed, effectively.
Regardless, it’s already an issue because AI just makes shit up, and students are skipping the part where they learn how to do their own research and going straight to ChatGPT, so they’re not smart or resourceful enough to realize when it’s lying to them. My mother is an English teacher and every time I see her she has like seven new examples of how one of her students made themselves look like a moron by blindly relying on AI. It’s useful for a run-down, not for actual research
It does matter that people are unskeptically using a tool that has next to no comprehension of what it’s “reading” and often makes things up or completely misrepresents the information that it is mindlessly spitting out.
Anything it says has to be taken with a massive grain of salt. It’s better to do the research yourself. Then you can more easily cross-check what your sources are saying, evaluate whether they are reliable sources, and feel more confident that an actual brain was behind the information you’re using.
Maybe one day generative AI will actually be intelligent enough to be a reliable research tool, but I don’t think we’ve gotten there yet. Currently, it’s solid at generating text and can maybe point you to some sources (although often simply searching on your own will turn up better sources). But I wouldn’t put much faith in the answers it gives you, not for anything of any importance or complexity.
AI search is absolutely flawed. Not sure why youre pretending like it isn’t. This is how shitty misinformation gets spread.
The problem is that ChatGPT often makes mistakes. It generates text that simply is not true. It has no brain. Even when it cites sources, sometimes if you read those sources, they simply aren’t saying what ChatGPT claims they’re saying.
It is a useful tool for generating text, but I’m not confident in it as a research tool.
Its relatively easy to smell when it has solid information and when its interpolating something that seems true tho. You should never trust it explicitly, but for stuff that it wont get wrong, it wont get it wrong. Michael Jordan’s one of the most famous men who has ever lived, and buying a NASCAR team is a huge event. Shits prolly on Wikipedia even. Chatgpt is not getting that egregiously wrong in 1000 tries, cuz theres nothing it would ever need to infer.
I’m not sure that it’s so easy. It will confidently tell you something and even cite a source, and then if you read the source, sometimes what ChatGPT told you will be completely false or unsubstantiated.
“For stuff that it wont get wrong, it wont get it wrong.” Sounds like a tautology. This is one of the dangers: that you are automatically assuming there is information that it won’t get wrong.
“Shits prolly on Wikipedia even.” - if the main time ChatGPT is accurate is when it’s using readily available, easy-to-find information, why not find that information yourself? Then at least you know where you got it and can be more confident that it is real and not a hallucination.
He also owned a Superbike team in what is now MotoAmerica (FKA AMA Superbike) for 9 years
It’s crazy the fall off NASCAR has faced. I used to watch it as a kid, everyone I knew had a favorite driver, and no I ask those same people and they can’t name a single modern driver.
Also shout out to my GOAT Bobby Labonte. That’s my king
Can’t watch it ever since Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton retired. Whenever I try, I just don’t know what to do with my hands.
Feels like the shake left my bake when those boys retired
I aint been first, but last ever since
Ever since Mike Honcho spread his cheeks in Playgirl, Nascar has never been the same. What happened to the game I loved?
What ever happened to Gary Cooper? The strong, silent type.
It was self inflicted by having a bunch of high end executives with inflated egos who couldn’t think they might’ve been wrong on some things. The playoffs, stage racing, cookie cutter tracks, and even length of the events were the downfall. Now F1 is starting to catch up to NASCAR in terms of viewership in America and you even see more F1 related things in everyday stores than you do with NASCAR in America. (although F1 might’ve shot themselves in the foot with the AppleTV deal but we’ll see)
I was thinking part of the problem is a lack of star power, even I know who Jeff Gordon and the Earnhardts are, but now I realize that might be intentional. Nascar comes across to me as an org that hates when a name becomes bigger than the company
Yeah playoffs for a racing league is stupid.
The only good thing that came out of it was one guy went for broke to qualify for the playoffs and wrecked his car riding the walls on a turn to pass a bunch of cars to the finish line. Which was awesome but promptly got banned so you would be disqualified if you tried that now.
Heeey I drove by a shop recently that has that old green #18 interstate battery logo across the wall and was joking with my partner about how low down the chain the shop had to be to still be repping that after all these years
Are you able to explain whether MJ’s in the right/wrong to someone who doesn’t know the first thing about the sport?
Not even remotely close because I couldn’t even begin to tell you anything other than fast cars are neat
Haha fair enough. A lot of the time with fandom ignorance is bliss anyways so I’d say you’re doing it the right way in that regard
I believe he’s in the right. If teams are investing 20-40 million for a charter (basically a permanent spot in the field every week) then they should not only be able to keep it for as long as they want but also be given a bigger piece of the financial pie since the fans are there for the teams and the drivers. They’re the biggest aspect of the sport whether NASCAR wants to recognize it or not.
MJ is closer to being in the right but it’s certainly not a slam dunk.
Bobby Labonte has nothing on Dick Trickle
NASCAR has done a horrendous job at promoting its drivers
Meanwhile more and more people I know are getting into F1
I too grew up a Bobby fan
Southern California, so different demographic, but I only knew one guy growing up who liked nascar
Kid me loved Rusty Wallace and the day I first tried a Miller Lite is still one of the most disappointing experiences of my life.
He’s from my home town! Used to race at CC Speedway.
i wouldn’t be able to contain if i were his jury lmao. I will just be like “i got you my goat”
“Why should the court excuse you from jury duty?”
“I cannot remain impartial on account of LeBron being a bum, your honor.”
“These case has nothing to do with Lebron sir..”
“YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!”
Funny enough, that ended up happening in jury selection. One of the best reporters for NASCAR said this on Twitter:
A couple potential jurors earlier were dismissed because they were huge Michael Jordan fans and felt they couldn’t be impartial. They appeared giddy just to walk by Jordan in courtroom.
Can’t blame them tbh.
Yeah it was pretty wild when I met MJ. Even though he broke my heart at 9 I was still excited. I’ll never forget what he said to me too “Who are you?! How did you get in my bedroom?!”
Psssh. I can’t stand celebrities who think they’re too good to interact with fans. MJ is dead to me now.
They’re talking about Michael Jordan not Michael Jackson, sir
Yeah he broke my heart at 5. Totally unrelated.
Definitely no way I could be on this jury. I respect the GOAT and I also am a NASCAR fan that doesn’t like the sanctioning body.
Pretty sure I saw one winked and pointed at him after disqualifying himself 😂
I didn’t see it Michael… but I believe you
They ruled out multiple people from jury selection due to this. The case is in North Carolina so tons of UNC fans in the jury pool
Do they also investigate if a jury is a Pistons fan?
Before the trial started when they were picking jurors, apparently one juror answered “yes” to having strong opinions about MJ and 23XI (his team), to the point it would affect his opinion on the case. When they dismissed him, he pumped his fist towards MJ to show support and the courtroom laughed - and the judge said, “Well I appreciate his honesty” lol
You would commit jury tampering to help a billionaire. Fuck you.
why is a Bulls fan anti-MJ? that man is solely responsible for your franchise being at all relevant
Seriously nobody shrieked “Frrrooooooomm NORTH CAROLINA!”?!
Dude that’s exactly what I did in my head as I heard the music lmao
I am unable to control myself. Literally anytime it’s played. 😉
YOUR STARRRRR WITNESS… AT 6’6”….
Holy aura
Seriously. Guy hasn’t played in over 20 years and people still freak out when he shows up. He is the closest thing to a living legend we have today.
100%. His degree of fame & level of aura was/is just different. Closer to a Michael Jackson level rather than the usual superstar iconic athlete
He managed it perfectly. A global brand that everyone knows while also living his life quietly making every appearance mean more
[deleted]
hes in the news when he wants to be, he doesnt really make appearances in shows and television like shaq and chuck for example, doesnt coach. he just lives
Not really. How often do you really see MJ talk? Before this year with those NBC interviews, the last time he spoke publicly was Kobes funeral?
I like that he doesn’t do much press. Keeps the myth around him to some extent. Brady and other athletes of this caliber are much more accessible.
How often do you really see MJ talk?
He doesn’t talk because he’s never been a good extemporaneous speaker. His brain grabs the wrong word, he blurts it out, and then he kind of has to run with it.
It was much worse earlier in his career, and he got better at post-game interviews by his late career, but there’s a reason his recent NBC appearances are pre-taped and edited.
Do u mean just basketball?
That’s all I needed…
We can do the same for Chauncey with The Final Countdown!!
What a shame it is that whenever the 2004 team reunites now in Detroit or wherever, Chauncey won’t be a part of it :(
He dropping 35 on the Judge.
*Nascar
Absolute cinema
Dude should have brought a portable speaker
Honestly impressively loud
The only time they would ever be acceptable
You hear this music, you’re losing against MJ in any contest
Unless you’re Larry Bird
They started using this song for their intro after he retired, so Larry’s safe.
The song is called Sirius by Alan Parson’s Project
Dang that song went from hard as hell to soft as fuck
If by “soft” you mean smooth as fuck, yes.
Sure
Middle class white r/nba users when song doesn’t mention killing rival gang members
You get it
Thank you
The music was way too soft.
I held my phone to my ear and only heard rain
Intro
FUCKKKKKKK
It was me guys and I did bring a portable speaker it was loud lol u can see him chuckle when he hears it.
https://youtube.com/shorts/XsG0n0L2V60?si=7dK2Z2gpL4ll1QXs
I thought he chuckled at the question/statement (which i couldn’t hear clearly?)
Hope you do well in testifying today?
I can barely see him at all in this video.
Are you watching with the screen off?
WHAT TIME IS IT?!
Arraign time, woo
Michael Jordan brought so much joy to my life in my youth that it would be impossible for me to be impartial on that jury.
“Michael Jordan didn’t kill nobody!”
“Sir, this is an antitrust case.”
“I said what I said.”
My GOAT
This is so good. Only way it could have been better if Ray Clay’s lineup announcement accompanied it.
Absolute Perfection
This court case ain’t going 7. It’s a wrap.
LeBron never testified and participated in the legal system like that
+1 for MJ /s
That music actually just plays any time he walks into a room.
Can the goat also speak on Warner Bros. being gobbled up?
Space Jam and all that
song is by alan parsons project
Yes. It Siriusly is
thought it Darude - Sandstorm for a sec
judge already sweating bullets
“Who’s judging me”
“Hmpphhh, 50”
Next level shithousery. Genius. Really.
Your honor I’d like to call Mich- oh excuse me…..FROM NORTH CAROLINA!
You can barely hear it, well at least I couldn’t on the work computer, but now imma look it up. Used to love those intros
Circlejerk on the loose today
thats perfect lol
I did use a speaker
brilliant
Fuck yeah, hope the France family gets kicked out of the sport, they’ve been terrible for 20 years
“How are you feeling about testifying today?” Me: “Yeah Mike, how are you feeling. Please say something.”
This is fucking awesome…
“A 6’6 guard out of North Carolina number 23!…..”
Ah yes, the old Bulls into. Was there a metoo?
I’ve been on the floor laughing at this for a good 10 mins
The only thing that would have made this better is higher volume.
This is legendary
No one talks about the fitting of his pants? He used to always wear super relaxed straight leg and it looked horrible. Now that he is properly fitted with these and he looks good in them.
He doesn’t have anyone to cut his suit?
Did he rip his warmups off? I bet he had goosebumps. I have them just thinking about that song.
He’s alright but no Kenny Omega
this life is a joke 😂
I would have preferred Round ball rock, to be honest.
Kinda creepy…
Testifying?
MJ a snitch?
Street cred goes to Lebron.
LeGoat stay winning
MJ is suing and he’s actually fighting for the drivers and their teams. Him doing this actually increases his street cred imo.
Based pro worker MJ
A billionaire suing smh
Sounds like commie talk to me. Legacy points deducted
