[Highlight] VJ tip and a Maxey block for a Sixers win!
That was one of the wildest endings to a game that I’ve seen
They got a decent shot since the pass didnt bounce til right before the rim.
If that was a normal heave pass the game is over there
Should have never got the ball that far down the court with .9 seconds left but Maxey fixed it.
Maxey being able to run fast enough to get a speeding ticket in a school zone helped a ton
On the interstate*
Honestly, it was pretty much a perfect pass, but the defense just made a spectacular play after it.
I see you’re not familiar with the relationship between De’Anthony Melton and fast break layups.
I love him, but I’ve never seen a player smoke so many, lol.
They should have brought the clip back just a little bit more - to get that possession VJ had to get the steal on the inbounds right before x 2. He tipped the ball the first time called a foul which was overturned to no foul but they said gsw got the ball back then did it again and got the steal and TO then put the ball back.
Box score watchers will say he hasn’t been as well since the start of the year but VJ just makes winning plays for a rookie
Feels like so many rookies in this class are playing more like vets than rookies. Guys are smart.
Bro I legit read some idiot on here try to say VJ was not even a good defender and getting targeted. People are ridiculous on here… probably just trying to prop their guy up by bringing others down. I’m loving this rookie class.
announcer is garbage, felt like a 1st quarter play
Sixers guards doing work
Morey is an elite drafter
Has to make up for his awful contract negotiating somehow
Both the Jerry Jones and Howie Roseman of the NBA at the same time
Gotta keep things equally balanced
Damn what a dime by Buddy Hield though.
Facts. All bro had to do was dunk it
First game back from an ACL injury, no shame in going for the layup lol.
Melton was great today considering imo.
I hope he can keep it up, I still think losing him last season was the cold water on our hot start, great glue guy
Perhaps, but i think we looked pretty great all the way up until Jimmy fell on his ass which led to a 7 game slog that wasn’t necessary.
Any sixers fan knows 2 things: melton is awesome; melton is horrendous at the cup
Gather and dunk in 0.9 seconds?
going for the dunk might have forced the foul call too.
Also might not have got it off before the buzzer
I think he was trying to let the ball bounce a little so he could have more time to score. He only had .09
That’s what I thought. I thought he played it well.
.9
Classic Melton at the rim
Didn’t have time to dunk it.
Imagine if he wasn’t coming off a million injuries and actually went for it
If he goes for the dunk he probably does get fouled but he also might’ve just gotten packed. Tough call for him.
Got fouled either way tbh but they’ll never call that on the buzzer.
They will if its against OKC, or the Lakers, or really any non tanking not Warriors team
Or stopped and the two players would’ve ran him over.
Eh Melton is pretty short and I get thinking there might not be enough time. Just an outstanding play by Maxey
He had to release it before buzzer and he didnt have enough time to control it like that.
Crazy heads up play too. I didn’t know Buddy had that in him.
VJ also with the insane double steal to get Sixers the ball. VJ legit stole this game from GSW.
His half-court offense is a mess rn but he is starting to make some crazy defensive plays
Having a rookie this NBA ready is all gravy. The fact that he’s still able to impact the offense is a great sign. Having good defense is far more important in the modern NBA especially because Maxey is a smaller guard
Man, you just know VJ has “it”. Offense hit a wall after the scorching start but his defense and nose for the ball is great already.
He and Maxey are lit, and McCain and Grimes are promising. Bright future for the sixers despite Embiid and George albatrosses.
lmao the clock started and ran off about .04 seconds during the 76ers inbounds
went from 8.2 to 7.8
Looks like they the waited about half a second to start the clock once Maxey gets the ball to make up for it
I’ve never seen that before
Good catch haha
Looks like they started the clock slightly late after it had been inbounded to compensate for the mistake.
But the clock on the overlay is not the official clock right? The refs have their own clock no? Maybe the TV guys forgot to update it lol
I was coming to comment to same thing! Was watching it live and had to rewind a couple of times to make sure I wasn’t seeing anything.
That was just the score bug. The actual one above the hoop was 7.8 the entire time
check again my friend
Yeah I’m blind my fault
The shot clock above the hoop at the start of the clip pretty clearly reads 8.2.
almost one of the craziest shots ever for melton time considered
What an ending
How much contact is allowed on the block? I just saw the slow motion on TV and sure its a block but the lower body completely takes out the shooter. Shouldn’t it be a foul?
It’s got to be a foil the way the refs call the rest of the game. In crunch time they whistled Santos for a foul when he grazed Maxey from the side… this is way more contact before the block than that.
It’s some wild decisions.
There was a review to a warriors inbound to post. Where he’s got smacked hard in the face by VJ. Nurse challenged it and it overturned to just a deflection happening first so Post got a free smack to the face lol
Yeah…im surprised that got overturned
i believe he gets ball first that makes it legal
Just saw it again and its a foul. I’m fine with a no call but if they called a foul, you cant really argue against it
I don’t think that would have been called at any play that game.
Not sure about that
lol he definitely didn’t get the ball first
i cant see shit from this angle, I have no clue. Just guessing.
Peak Reddit comment
my first comment was “i believe”. this is a shitty camera angle to see anything. Is there another angle that they showed on the warriors broadcast that your fans are positive it was a foul. Based on this angle I see hand on hip (seems marginal to me) and then gets blocked by other 76er player and cant tell when and how much contact is down low.
nope, body contact well before contact with the ball
No, what makes it legal is the Rule of Cool. He was bricking that thing anyway
They have some bullshit verbiage about “incidental contact” in the rulebook, which is precisely to allow highlight plays that should by all rights be a foul.
warriors were up 1:14 and refs made 4 bogus calls in a row to bring Philly back lol
The warriors got away with mugging the Sixers in the fourth to get back in the game. Get over it
It also looks like Melton lost the ball going up and never really gained control for that layup attempt. That’s what allowed Maxey the opportunity to block it.
The way the NBA officiates its, contact after a clean block of the ball is considered incidental, contact before is a foul, thus its a pretty clear foul
thats a foul but fuck it great highlight lmao
refs are always terrified of calling anything on a buzzer beater I think I’ve seen it like 3 times in my life lol
Maxey goes up and hits Melton well before getting ball.
Yep, VJ was fouled but it’s ok
I’ll trust the Thunder fan to know what a foul is they see it often. SGA gets fouled a hundred times a game.
embiid flopped his way to a MVP and didnt even get past the second round once
dont try and talk back brah ur a sixers fan
Yeah Embiid did. I can be honest about the Sixers. Can you be honest about the Thunder?
Absolutley shameless
Well I wouldn’t be that hard on the Thunder but I’m glad you are opening up.
I know you are but what am i
We can joke about the Sixers and Thunders but let’s take a moment to appreciate that at least we aren’t Clippers fans. What kind of fucking loser would root for the Clippers?
even the clippers made more conference finals then the sixers lmfao
Come on Thunder fan. Clippers have never won a chip never will. The only thing more pathetic than the organization are its loser fans. I heard some Clipper fans are switching teams now?? Fucking losers 🤣
Incredible play from VJ saved a terrible ATO play from Nurse
He just doesn’t do anything. Well except run his best players into dust.
That’s TWO Philadelphia coaches who do jack shit for their team. Probably three if you side with Phillies doomers.
Our hopes and dreams of having a good coach lie with… Rick Tocchet
Guy won a Jack Adams idk why he gets the hate he does.
Well KP is actively terrible. Nurse just isn’t doing anything special. These are not the same. I don’t care about baseball coaches.
I’m talking about Sirianni lol. Patullo does technically do something for the team, even if he’s absolutely terrible at it
WOW what an ending to that game
clipping this at .001s after the basket to post faster is so garbage lmao
embarassing 2nd half and Nick Nurse should be fired but hilarious outcome
Nick Nurse just looks like an asshole aswell. That would be one reason
Agree but that challenge was cluuutch af
Nah it was garbage. He got bailed out
Back to back Warriors games where they come all the way back with their G League squad and end up losing
out of all the games today I’m glad I decided to watch this one, was frustrating seeing the sixers stall a bit at the end but the ending was worth it
We do that at least one quarter most games, usually the third. Not sure why we can’t figure it out
pass me the bleach
What a finishing sequence, holy shit
Goddamn I love watching Tyrese Maxey hoop
Never normal
The quick inbounds pass and run out was perfectly executed, incredible play… and wiped away by Maxey’s insane recovery.
BLOCKED BY MAXEY
VALDEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Insane ending but Nick Nurse still needs to get fired lmao
Crazy game but imagine explaining NBA rules and then watching the end of this game with someone
Little kids reaction at the end on the sixers broadcast was HILARIOUS
maxey has been incredible this year. making the case for an all nba team plus all star appearance this year
That’s insane
Watching Al Horford might turn this into almost expected
And Spencer guarding the ref’s shadow instead of an opponent
How do the warriors not get the ball in when they were up 1?! Even used a timeout, still couldn’t inbound the ball.
Love that I get to watch this back court for a long time
I fucking love this Sixers team
That shit was wild
insane ending
VJ on 5 plays in a row to close the game. wild for a rookie. that was a foul on melton though but game winners never get called so im not mad
one of the more insane finishes to a game this season
Melton has to take that ball all the way to the backboard.
Not enough time
The ball got blocked with ~0.3 seconds left. He had time. But I understand he didn’t know that.
0.9 on the clock man I get it
He had to wait to let the ball bounce AND see it was only 0.9 left. No way he was gonna make that
There’s a millisecond left
I think he was pinning that shot to the backboard no matter what
Yeah but with .9 he probably didn’t think he had time
NEVER IN DOUBT
Great fucking ending but that looks like a foul
He got ball first
that sixers aesthetic is sexy as fuck
If you don’t like that you don’t like nba basketball
Crazy ending to the game
I EDGE TO EDGECOMB
Holy shit lol
What a game finish!!!!!! 🤩
if you don’t like tyrese maxey, you don’t like basketball
WTF
flight is not gonna like this one
Narrowly avoided the nightmare on the other end, great play to get it back and a great block to seal it
GTFO of here doomers
The fact that we almost blew that without curry and green playing is pretty upsetting regardless
And Jimmy Butler
Wilddd. Honestly props to Melton for having the brains to run down the court asap. Too often guys just give up and stay in the backcourt
Yeah both coaches played that as well as you could. Kerr knew to try to catch them sleeping and Nurse made sure to tell them somebody has to sprint back and cover off the make.
What a pass by Buddy
Post was fouled before this sequence
Least we know melton and Seth are going to be immense game changers for us when Steph and butler get back. And we’ll see what kind of returns Kuminga can get us at the deadline
Maxey was in the first row after missing that shot, but he recovered and streaked all the way down the court to get that block.
Great hustle by Maxey
One of the best game saving blocks you’ll ever, would have been an incredible block even if it wasn’t a game saver, but a chase down from that far is crazy
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That 4Q was absolutely insane
What a finish!
I’m not familiar with this announcer but man she barely said anything! If you just listen to her words and no video you’d think Maxey hit the shot and then just blocks a shot at the other end
that is insane but we all are agreeing to not mention that the block was a foul, right?
ROY things
Holy shit that feels like an all time sequence
this is sick nasty !!!
Holy shit how fast is Tyrese Maxey. He outran his own teammate for that game winning block.
Why does the announcer sound like a high school student?
Tyrese “Luke Kornet” Maxey
4 black shirts in the paint and barely any box outs.
That inbounds pass was so fucking good
How many players are allowed to step on the court during live play? That whole finish just looked crazy
Great block but that’s crazy that they got that close with 0.9 seconds left
DeAnthony Melton got that D- inside scoring stat
he knew melton couldn’t hit the lay
Pat’s D on that Sixers possession is absolutely terrible. Allowed the tip to happen.
I love the Sixers more, especially that 2000s Jersey and court.
just dunk it
how many game winners will we get tonight
HERE THEY COME
Wild sequence. Im curious how that shot wouldve looked had it not been blocked cause he had to rush it lol.
Edgecombe looking like stud out there.
Love hearing a commentator that I recognize from a video game. Portland fans are lucky to have that guy from NBA Live series.
Was she alone in the booth announcing this?
why didn’t he do a two handed slam?
Shoulda went for the dunk
That was a good pass.
That’s a crazy ass sequence
Should be a technical foul on the Sixers? They had multiple bench guys standing on the court
Am I tripping or did the game clock start and stop before the inbound pass?
How is that not a foul at the end? Hand on hip, pushed midair well before the block.
Melton got absolutely leveled , like what lol ?
That’s just a massive foul against Melton. Ridiculous officiating.
Buddy Hield what are you doing bro
Lesbian announcers are so cringe
Clear foul
