Jayson Tatum on playing with his son Deuce: “He turned 8, I’m 27, it’s like damn can I play 10 more years? I can easily do that. So if it works out it would be cool.”
Jayson, you lasting 10 more years isn’t the hardest part. Deuce making the league is…
Let’s just be happy he did okay on the math part, small victories
I love seeing these dudes dream of their sons making the league. It must make them proud.
You dont understand, Celtics fans already project him as a first rounder
hopefully not a 1st overall pick tho, he’d probably join a team that inexplicably ruins his shooting form or bullies him into becoming a cod streamer
The thunder don’t do that. They’ll have his draft rights guaranteed
Hopefully not a 2nd overall either. Celtics had bad luck with that one.
True an inept franchise def the same as an accidental overdose
Yeah they died living as far away from Boston as they could lol
well we also got Bill Russell at #2 so… idk
Boston didn’t draft him.
eh fair enough. we might as well have though
Smh
The only thing he’ll be for sure is a first grader
He’s only 19, loads of potential.
Better we draft him than your organisation otherwise he will be out of the league before it begins
Little fucker can barely read
Yeah, but not until late in the first round. We’re anticipating an unusually strong draft class in 2026.
The little guy is super tall for his age.
Yeah his dad is tall. But Tatum is not a LeBron type star and wont be able to get him a spot so Deuce will have to really work most likely.
Dude if Tatum is still on the Celtics by the time Deuce is draft-eligible he will absolutely have enough cachet with that team to get his kid drafted assuming Deuce is seriously trying to be a basketball player. The question is if Deuce is going to end up good enough to be worth a 2nd round pick.
He needs to be lebron/giannis level marketable and bring in enough money for the celtics to give him that leeway
Not really Dame did it with his cousin and Tatum actually helped get the Celtics a ring. I get the Celtics are a more storied franchise with a culture but what’s the practical lasting difference between picking up Deuce and picking up Max Shulga.
Chris Smith got a spot with the Knicks when JR was around. Chris Smith may be the worst basketball player to ever be in the NBA.
People are seriously overestimating the level of talent you need to have your family benefit from nepotism.
He’s already a legend in Boston and his son is basically a Celtic celebrity at this point. If Tatum is still on the team in 2035 and Deuce is serious about going pro then the team will make it happen if that’s what the two of them want.
After the Isiah Thomas situation I am not sure how the org runs on loyalty
people love to bring this up like the celtics made him play lol
We certainly don’t get super stars in their prime dropped into our lap so we gotta run on something.
JR Smith got his little brother a full nba contract with the Knicks and Chris Smith is genuinely the worst NBA player I have ever seen in my life.
It doesn’t take as much as you think.
There are sons who turn out better than their fathers. That will never be the case for LeBron, and even matching Tatum won’t be easy, but we can’t say today that he’ll end up as a G-League player like Bronny. Steph is better than Dell, Devin is better than Melvin Booker, Kobe better than Joe, Al Horford better than Tito, and so on. Anything is possible.
Kid is 8
Kid better start working on his jump shot if he wants the Thunder to draft him
Have we ever seen a son turn out better than a father when the father was an all NBA level player?
I don’t think so, anyway… the father of Klay Thompson was the first pick of his draft (the Larry Bird year) and a college sensation. Dell Curry won 6MOTY.
Doubt it. Sabonis would’ve been close if his dad played in the NBA during his prime.
His mom was also a volleyball player at Duke
So you mean to tell me there’s a higher leaping Tatum to be drafted #1 overall in 11 years
Dames cousin was in the league
Lol yeah I was gonna say that little dude is huge. I remember a few years ago seeing him clips of him on the court pre-game and then finding out he was only like 5y/o like “Wtf!?” There was also some “bring your kid to work” typa thing where a bunch there was a staffer playing Duck Duck Goose with them all and you can just see how much bigger he is than all the other kids.
Obviously no one knows how good he’ll end up being but the NBA-level frame is probably not going to be an issue. Like Bronny is just too short; Deuce is probably gonna be 6’6+ or something.
Yeah, I’m 6’7 and my dad is Tatum’s height, and looking at pictures of Deuce standing next to Tatum, he seems pretty comparable to how tall I was at the same age. A kid’s height percentile as a toddler is typically a pretty solid indication of how tall they’re going to be as an adult
Not having NBA talent Didn’t stop bronny.
At least he can be on the court somewhat reasonably. Can’t say the same about most other basketball kids.
Crazy that people are already hating on Deuce. Can’t you guys just appreciate greatness?
clippers were dumb for using aspiration to feed kawhi leonard money when they could have signed uncle dennis to a 8m/yr contract
Uncle Dennis isn’t a real person. Has anyone ever even seen this guy? He’s made up.
Its just Kawhi with a fake mustache and baseball cap
I don’t think Bronny is that bad - without his dad he may get a few two-way NBA contracts and would likely play in Europe. The NBA has had far worse players.
He’s played about 117 minutes in 12 games and has some fairly decent defensive analytics

LePedigree is a thing.
It’s an interesting though experiment. What happens as we go farther down the Bronny/Thanasis Scale? Boston just pays Deuce $10 million a year to sit at the end of the bench. Cleveland signs Kyrie’s dad.
Bronny made it to the league…
I dont know if youve seen deuches highlights but I dont think its going to be that hard
It would be cool if Deuce made it. Then he could go against LeBron and Bryce. I think Bronny will have retired by then.
What about if he grows up n hes 5’9
They prob said the same thing about 8 year old shaq
Deuce goes to like every Celtics practice. I feel like he can shoot better than me lol.
Eh actually it is now after he had the Achilles injury. He may not be the player he was before the injury which will get him out of the league before 10 years
It’s cute that he has so much confidence in his own kid though. He thinks his longevity will be a bigger blockage than Deuces skills.
Yeah, nepotism would NEVER hit the NBA…
You are right but it really is a players son’s league nowadays

This a very weird comment
Wtf it’s a little kid maybe just delete this
Oklahomans are some of the strangest people on this planet
Imagine being such a weirdo you see a clip of a 7 year old and have thoughts that he’s gay. Not once has that ever crossed my mind nor have I seen something and thought wow that was fruity for a very young child. Even if he was, doesn’t mean he can’t be good at basketball.
Deuce watching this in two years, “I want to play soccer, Dad”.
Deuce gonna be the tallest kid in theater class. “You’reeeee aaaaa crook Captain Hook!”
Deuce, a world-class piano prodigy at just 9, being forced to do dribble drills and jam his fingers thus ruining his musical future.
Judge, won’t you throw the book at the pirate…
Maritime lawyer Deuce Tatum
Well it could be worse, he could want to become some sort of analyst or therapist. Perhaps some combination of the two… hm.
He’ll just play JT in the biopic then lol
Funny enough that’s what happened to Tom Brady’s son.
What if Deuce wants to make stop-motion films
I mean RISD is pretty close to Boston
Go Scrottie!
What if Deuce wants to do marketing for Wendy’s Carvers?
Wtf…. did you forget about the NDA?
a nicer Wendy’s with ham
Wendy’s is coming out with a ham?
like rudolph?
santa can’t do it
“Do you think a depressed person could make this?”
Stand in the place where you live…
A chair company reference??? 👏🏽
🎶Stand in the place where you li-…🎶
Three hours ago I thought this was funny. I just finished the final episode of The Chair Company and found this comment infinitely funnier
Saw someone on Twitter compare this to Bron and a laker fan replied saying Deuce ain’t athletic enough 😭
If athletically projecting a 8 year old isnt peak America, i don’t know what is
laker legend kendall marshall was at one time ranked the top fifth grader in the country. sports illustrated did a piece about it back in the day. more talking about the absurdity of it, but funny nonetheless. amazing he actually made it to the league
Oj Mayo got recruiting offers in like 7th grade too lmao
In Europe it’s worse - they’ve got 7 year olds living in soccer monasteries.
U mean like la masia? Lmao
Need to bring in the aging expert from Nathan for You
Delete Twitter my dude. It’s all bots and racist left on there lol
I keep it because of jokes like that
Someone yesterday posted that the Clippers sacked Chris Paul because he knows where all the trees are buried and I couldn’t stop laughing.
It fucking works so well lmao
I wish it wasn’t the fastest way to stay updated with stuff
Don’t forget the racist bots
As if Reddit is any better lol
Bot wise? maybe not. racist wise? Well seeing as how people say Reddit is very left leaning I would argue it’s not as bad as Twitter.
Not as bad in the mainstream subs, but it’s still “hivemind cringefest”
it’s not even the same planet dude
On a related note if there are any high schoolers reading this who are bummed they haven’t gotten their athleticism yet, there may be hope. You also totally might not get it either.
I just say that because mine didn’t really hit until I was like 19-20 and way out of high school. I went from barely grabbing rim as a senior to dunking off of one and two feet at 19⁄20, with no growth spurt or major athletic training to explain it. It was just my own natural ability continuing to come through on its own.
I got the athleticism late too but it was way too late to matter for anything, had fun dunking on 5’8 premeds in my University gym tho
bro is literally copying everyone
/s
Wooly Billy’s hairline
Sarc Mark is sadly not needed in this situation
What’s he talking about? JT is 19
Right? Missed opportunity by JT.
I know there have been advances and players are playing longer and longer but everyone in their 20s thinks “I can easily do that” until they’re no longer in their 20s lol
that would be cool
Having an 8 year old at 27 years old is insane lmao
Right wtf. He’ll be able to go to the bar with his son and drink with him at 40.
Where my children of teen parents at, my parents had 4 by 22 #MormonWay
Well when you’re a multi millionaire you can get away with having kids young. And it’s generally better to have kids young provided you have the financial ability to do so anyway
People listen to the Morris twins talk? Wow.
Yeah buddy not everyone gets 18 years careers but I love the attitude
Especially with a glued together Achilles
KD doing well so far
Good sir, can you please also post that clip from the live stream where Tatum talked about the Morris twins and scouting reports? That shit was hilarious
What did he say
Big Deuce and Little Deuce following in the footsteps of Wheelchair Deuce
Never had an original thought in his life
Bro is already 27 w an 8 year lmfao wrap it up
Start dropping his Deuce off at basketball camp
He’s only 8! Geez let him decide what he wants to do 😩
Bro you’re not even playing now
I love how much this man lives for Deuce. Basically every one of his scenes in Starting 5 (season 1) was about how much he loved his son. It was so beautiful
Morris Twins vs Jokic Brothers WrestleMania 50!
Duece watching this when he’s full grown topping out at 6’3 and unable to dunk a basketball gonna feel like a failed son because his dad expected him to also become a top 0.01% athlete just because he was and a couple other nba player’s sons were lucky enough to be
LeDeuce.
Technically, it’s 11 years. If you only last 10 more years, you won’t be able to play with your son.
NEPOTISM
Anthony Edwards kids are going flagrant 2 on sight
It’s kinda nice seeing the Morris twins still like to do everything together lmao.
Kids name is Deuce?
“Boy it’s out the mud, we got Jason Tatum”
Funny how nepotism is despised but now with sports it’s covered like a reality show.
Some weenie hut -> weenie hut jr type action
Deuce
He named his son Deuce?
Damn Deuce is 8 now. Time fucking flies bro I swear. I still see Kiyan Anthony as a 10 year old kid. Seeing him ball out like his dad on Syracuse is nostalgia.
This guy doesn’t have an original bone in his body
Lord help him if he’s a bad player because “Deuce is a deuce” is free real estate.
Jayson, you haven’t played even played 10 years. You’re less than halfway there.
Doesnt Duece mean poop? “I’m about to drop a deuce.”
It means two, poop is the slang definition. his sons name is Jayson Tatum jr so his nickname is deuce
Makes sense. Bout to drop a deuce here.
Oh I mean uh yeah that’d be cool to play sports with your son professionally
Wait wait wait you mean other nba players think like this too? But yall told me only a supreme narcissist like LeBron thought like that?
Bron really ruined the league
is deuce any good at his age right now?
Magic Johnson thought the same
What if he does play basketball but in WNBA?
Always tryna be someone else lmao
Assuming his son can get into the NBA as a 18 year old.
No pressure tho!
“You changed your name TO Latrine?”
i mean it’s not impossible but let’s be realistic here
I thought his kid was special? Is his dad special, too?
Bold statement to make after tearing your Achilles. I like Tatum so I hope he’s right, and he is pretty tall, but unless you are KD tall, it’s usually not so easy.
Sure you can bud, sure you can. You can do anything you want on doggie heaven.
dude needs his own personality
I am not a fan of when players get into nba they get there family in as well. like the ball family, bronny, and giannis brothers.. Like we are paying people to sit bench…
But there are a ton of players who made the league on the own volition despite their dad’s playing. Like nobody is questioning whether Steph should have made the NBA just because Dell was a good player.
Obviously a lot has to go right for Deuce to make it, but it’s certainly not impossible. I’ll take his genes over mine
Yeah, I don’t get the bitterness. In the NBA they are all genetic outliers. Tim Hardaway JR isn’t in the NBA because of his father. Maybe from being tall and being taught to shoot from a very early age, but not because of the name.
I mean i get that. If they go to college have good stats all that get drafted yes they should make it but with bronny and other they don’t even go to college they just start
Not sure how many college classes Cooper Flagg actually went to.
He was there for 1 season, and finished that 1 season, with a 4.0 gpa.
1 season. Not even one year. And you have no idea what classes he took. There are some absolute joke classes that athletes get offered in college.
writing course, a health and nutrition seminar, and a sports business class
Haha, thank you for proving my point.
Heh? So tell me .. you have the opportunity to get your family paid millions legally and you don’t have to foot the bill yourself and you’re not doing it? C’mon now.
I’m even more forgiving in Giannis’s case given their background.
I get that.. I do. But when giannis is on a 150 million dollar contract just give the family 2 million and they can retire! 😭
He probably does that too I’m sure. I think both approaches are fine-especially since no organization would feel forced to part with money they wouldn’t want to willingly, or had the budget to do so. These are mega corporations after all.
I think it’s pretty straightforward; will this 12th man who will barely play be more valuable than this 12th man that will barely play and make your superstar happier & more likely to stay with the team. The latter would have to be pretty terrible not to be worth it.
Shut up. If someone lined up a job paying you 8 figures you would take it in a heartbeat. The amount of nepotism in NBA front offices more than allows for some black men to put their sons in position.
That’s how you build generation wealth the right way!
Balls are good though
Yeah, Lamelo getting to the league didn’t have anything to do with Lonzo or vice versa. They were legit top five picks each which is pretty wild to think about
The ball family has 2 good people the one in g league rn sucks!
There are no Ball brothers in the g league
li angelo not playing anymore ? i dont keep up but he was drafted into g league
hes a rapper now
Oh! i did not know that!
Y’all are so weird about nepotism in sports. They’re there to entertain and make money. The moment players stop doing either, they’re gone.
The two Ball brothers that are good enough for the NBA are in the NBA. The one that isn’t never got close. What’s the problem
lonzo isn’t that good
Giannis didn’t get his bros in the league. They earned it on their own.
Same thing with the ball bros. LiAngelo obviously didnt make it, but lamelo is legit.
Bronny is the only one who really you can say only made it in the league because of his family.
Though what im not a fan of here is Tatum just assuming his kid is gonna be in the NBA. Thats a lot of unnecessary pressure and expectations for the kid.
Honestly, I think he’s just goofing around about it. I wouldn’t remotely take it seriously. It’s dad humor. (We don’t know anything about what his expectations for his kid really are).
Bronny would have been a project even if he hadn’t had his health scare. There have been much better players to go undrafted. The craziest thing is him getting a 4 year guaranteed contract.
Back to the topic: yeah, i really don’t like this trend of players talking up their children to the public. That goes for lebron and Tatum. Then they get defensive about it if the press brings it up.
Let your child find their own path. Don’t put a spotlight and expectations on them to a national audience. It’s not right.
